But then he runs off to hold the line, and I literally raged for 30secs thinking "NO YOU LUMP, I MURDERED AN ENTIRE RACE FOR YOUR LIFE AND YOU RUN OFF. YOU QUAD." (caps intended to convey sense of rage)
And then he came back all bloodied and hungry, and I was really confused. =P

I made the decision to leave the queen to die because I was worried it was an either/or choice between her and Grunt, and I sure as hell wasn't going to leave Grunt to die (bros before, er, spiders).

Yeh I wasn't unhappy that Grunt survived. You could say I was confused and happy too. But I'm actually feeling kinda guilty that I essentially committed genocide for a bro. =|
I think I take this game too seriously. =P

I feel bad too but the rachni queen was pretty twisted after what was done to her, I really didn't trust her in the long run and didn't want to leave the galaxy in danger of her turning her rage on every living thing in site after the reapers were eliminated..... and this is something I'll never experiance myself in the game since it's a far off future and this is the last ME... yeah, I win. I take the game too seriously.

This might be a bit spoiler-ish, so SPOILER. (I know it's a spoiler forum, but I think it's just good form to warn)
For this mission I took The Prothean with me, and he mentions a few times about how the rachni were one of the few races they didn't subjugate because they were worthy enemies. Just an interesting observation, dunno if this means anything later on in the game (I haven't finished yet),

This is just one of those times where you would only choose the renegade (leave her) option if you were intentionally trying to make things harder for yourself.

Wasn't sure about Grunt's fate, because I hadn't read the spoilers for him, but with the music and all, I expected a heroic death.
And then he comes all bloodied up and joking/being actually hungry?
Go Grunt!

I can't confirm this, but I've heard rumors that his survival is actually tied to his ME2 loyalty rather than the Queen choice.

Actually the "Downside" is the Krogan force is slightly smaller (but you gain legions of spiders to build the Crucible).Lambchopz wrote...
If you save the Rachni Queen she adds Rachni Workers to your roster of forces or whatever, and they help build the crucible I guess. As far as I know there's no downside to saving her.
