So I go to do the first N7 mission after doing the intro missions you have to do, and when prompted to switch disks disk 2 would not come off its spindle in the CE tin and when it finally came out, it came out cracked and is now unreadable. The crack is just in the spindle, it has not touched the data but it's still unreadable.

How do I go about fixing this?

Yeah the second disc is hard to come take out, you have to be very careful trying to remove it Sadly you're probably gonna need a new one Disc 2.

Would email bioware or EA directly if your local retailer you purchased it from won't take it back. These cases from Star Metal Pak are horrible. If you do successively get yoru disc out without damaging them, I've seen people recommend taking finger nail clippers to the little plastic nubs on the spindle.

Definately email Bioware or EA and explain what happened, maybe they'll send you an entirely new collectors edition or a disc 2. Email Valve also, they're nice guys maybe they would help you out.

These really are some of the most horrible spindles I've ever seen. I don't get it: is there really anything wrong with regular DVD spindles that they're not good enough for games? Heck, use the 'two piece' ones that lock the disk on, but pop it right off when you press 'em, not this 'spindle is nearly as hard as the metal case' crap.

It's not a question of the local retailer not taking it back, it's that it's sold out. Only reason it's an issue is because the N7 disks are specially marked so I can't just exchange the disc for a regular version.

I was hoping posting here and Tweeting EA/Bioware would get their attention without having to call because I work two jobs and it's hard to try to contact customer support and be on hold forever when my available hours to do so are so limited.

Yep, it took me a few minutes to get the discs out because I wanted to be careful. I used some toenail clippers to shorten the little plastic bits that hold the discs down and now they pop in and out no trouble.

I have the collector's edition as well and I had a hard time getting it out. It is of poor design so I'm am going to be careful and maybe keep the disks in another case to keep them safe. The tin is very nice though.

I haven't had this happen to me but I do feel for you. I was afraid ME3 Collector's would be exactly like ME2's where it was impossible for me to remove the first disc. Second one came out no problem but the first always gave me anxiety. I hated seeing it bend with my effort and pictured it snapping it half everytime. ME3's imo happens to be worse. It takes more effort just to take out BOTH of the discs. My only recommendation is to put your discs in a seperate case. It's what I'm doing. Sure it's not in its pretty tin case I paid for but I'll take it over the heartache of breaking the game.

Why would you email a company that has nothing to do with the game?

Same reason people email IGN thinking they're the ones that make videogames. Some of the emails they get and have read on podcasts (at least in the 3 Red Lights days, their others shows don't read those emails as much anymore) were hilarious.

I contacted my GS and they were able to get a new copy shipped to them from their corporate office so I did a swap tonight. Since they had a couple of promotions going on (Power Up coupon of the week plus another promo) that allowed me to get $140 for my old 360 Arcade from Sept. 08 I upgraded to a Slim. While the HDD transfer process has been going on and after I got both disks off, I've been using a crappy PS2 game to limber up the spindles by repeatedly putting it in the tin and taking it out;.

Its very difficult to get the discs in and out, so what I did was get two old jewel cases to temporarily store each disc in the mean time. At least this way I can have the N7 case on display on my Collector's Edition shelf.

I use a CD binder for all my games, it makes like a little easier, most for transport but it came in handy with this CE box, what a ****** poor design. Love the outside, hate the inside.

These things are nasty to get out of the cases. It's not just games. It's videos. They put these relatively fragile disks in these too tight so they don't fall out in shipping, but they're hard to get out. Sometimes I use a needlenose pliers to squeeze the center pieces together to take the disks out. I once bought a $1000 software pack and had disk 12 break taking it out in the middle of an installation. That really made me upset.

Mine chipped too after I had gotten it out and someone put it back in. I can't find an e-mail for Bioware or EA. Grrr....

****** poor design on the manufacture end. I just took clippers to the left and right prongs and it seems to work fine.
