I had the same problem when I preordered SW:ToR.
I ended up preordering a second copy and gave my old SW:ToR forum account to my brother as a birthday present.

Yeah, well fortunately I somehow ordered a second copy of Mass 3 CE for the PC. I could let my brother have this.

Well, as far as I can remember the BSN has always been tied to the EA accounts. But it wasn't until midway last year that they started 'converting' EA accounts to "Origin" accounts. Otherwise the details are the same, new label only. Incidentally, that's why I had my licenses transferred, because I was fed up with my old account and wanted to start fresh. Didn't really get any hassle, just had to wait. Sorry it's been, well, impossible for you, OP.

I wonder what happened to the good old days when there was no Steam or Origin and you could just install your game with just a CD key and PLAY IT without having to tie it to some other bull.

VICTORY ACHIEVED

You are now ready to chat with Sourabh.
you:
Hey
Sourabh:
Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is Sourabh how may I help you?
you:
Can you help me check the date of birth associated with this account?
Sourabh:
May I please have your first and last name to update our database?
you:
----
Sourabh:
Hello Philip
you:
Hello
Sourabh:
Could you please tell me date of birth as mentioned on account
you:
It should be -----
you:
but apparently this is not the case
you:
I am trying to correct this
Sourabh:
I am sorry for this as we can not change date of birth as mentioned on account
you:
If I can provide proof of purchase for any of the games on the account, will you be able to tell me the date of birth?
Sourabh:
No
you:
Why not?
you:
Showing proof of purchase is a more sure means of identification
you:
Are you still there?
Sourabh:
Yes
you:
Is there absolutely no way to verify my identity, other than DOB?
Sourabh:
No
you:
Can you use your better judgment as a customer service representative to determine whether or not I am the actual person?
you:
I can provide CD keys, purchase numbers, and everything associated else with the history of my account, but for some reason I am being told the date of birth is innaccurate
you:
I registered this account 5 years ago and I think it is extremely sad that I have no way to authenticate my personal info or ID in any other way
Sourabh:
I do understand your problem ,Could you please allow me some moments of your time so that I check it from your account so that I make changes into your acco0unt.
you:
Yes, thank you.
Sourabh:
You are Welcome
Sourabh:
I apologize that you had to wait longer than expected. I appreciate your time and co-operation.
you:
ok
you:
I don't mind as long as I can get this resolved
Sourabh:
I have even confirmed it from my supervisor . I am sorry for this as we can not change date of birth as mentioned on account. Please let me know why you want to change date of birth that you mentioned yourself
you:
I can only say that my date of birth is -----, and if that does not match what is on the account, the account info is incorrect
you:
Did I register the account with a date of birth as -----
you:
thats possible, but if it is anything other than ---- it is not my real date of birth
Sourabh:
No
you:
If I have no way of changing my date of birth for the account, can I find out what it is?
Sourabh:
There is no way to change date of birth once you used while creating an account. If you want to make any other change . please let me know
you:
If there is no way to change the date of birth, I would like to provide proof of purchase showing that one game on another origin account I own belongs to me
Sourabh:
So you want to transfer game from one account to another?
you:
Yes
you:
And that requires my date of birth
Sourabh:
I have checked your account details and you have Credit card information listed, and if you are able to provide me that information , I will be able to transfer your game from one account to another
you:
I have been dealing with EA customer service for several days about this
you:
ok
Sourabh:
Could you please provide me your last 4 digit of Credit Card ?
you:
-----
you:
I can provide all the order numbers for times I have bought EA/Bioware points as well
Sourabh:
Thank you for the information provided
Sourabh:
Could you please tell me which game you want to transfer ?
you:
Should it be the game on the account you are speaking to right now, or the other account I have?
you:
I would like to move Mass Effect 3, N7 collector's edition
Sourabh:
We can only transfer your game from one account to another , still it is rare exception.
Sourabh:
May I know your serial code for the game ME 3 ?
you:
Yes
you:
-----
Sourabh:
I have checked your serial code for the game and it is linked with some other EA E-mail Account? May I know if you have some other EA E-mail Account
you:
I do. It is ------@gmail.com
Sourabh:
Thank you
Sourabh:
You are providing correct date of birth for this account -----@gmail.com
Sourabh:
May I know on which account you want to transfer your game?
you:
I would like to move my games onto ------@hotmail.com
you:
from -----@gmail.com to -----@hotmail.com
Sourabh:
Okay. Please wait
Sourabh:
I apologize that you had to wait longer than expected. I appreciate your time and co-operation.
you:
no problem
Sourabh:
I have disable your game from account ----@gmail.com and provide you a new game under -----@hotmail.com as per your request. I would request you to please check it under your account -----@hotmail.com
you:
I will check right nw
Sourabh:
Sure
you:
It works
Sourabh:
Great
you:
Do you think you can enable the collector's edition content as well?
Sourabh:
Your collector edition contents are already under ------@hotmail.com
you:
Ok. I guess it will just take some time to update

you:
thank you SO much
you:
I have been trying to get this done for ages
Sourabh:
It's my pleasure to assist you
Sourabh:
Thank you for contacting EA. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
you:
No, that is it

I would encourage any of you going through this to be persistent. Let them know you are NOT giving up. It must have taken me a total of 6-8 hours of time talking to these people before I got to where I wanted to be. If they EVER tell you it is against EA policy and say that their supervisor says the same, specifically ask to talk to their supervisor. If that doesn't work, try someone else until you get it.

I am. I gave up though. It seems that any games I bought on my former (and long obsolete) email address from when I lived in New York will have to be re-purchased.

My billing rate in real life is $150 an hour. I can't justify spending $1200 worth of my time to regain software I can replace totally for under $100 on Steam. It really is a giant scam though, the way the companies are doing this online stuff.

Why not use public/private keys or some actual identification, instead of things so volatile as email accounts?

So the lesson learn here is to agitate them to the point just give up themselves and help you. Unbelievable how horrendous this service was for you TC. Frankly, I might well have pirated the damn thing myself just out of frustration. You reading this BioWare? Piracy is a better option than using EA's customer service. Might want to look into that.

I had a similar issue that took my friend 2 hours to solve, and for me it took ****ing 5 days, to fight through the customer support. I had an issue back in 2010 summer with crysis maximum edition, the ****s shipped it with 2 CD keys for crysis, when it should have had 2 separate keys, 1 for crysis, 1 for the rest of the content. my friend had the same problem. And it appears ALL! the versions shipped to europe had this problem and somehow it ****ing took em 5 days to admit their mistake, even though i had photos of the CD-keys, let the support guy see what happens on my desktop when i try to use they other key etc. etc. a lot of un necessary **** only to get a CD key that i paid for, and a support guy sneering "remember to write this down" i ended up replying "Tell your boss to remember to give us the ****ing keys we paid for!"

I think it boils down to if your lucky enough to actually reach some indian laborer who can speak proper english and actually understands the issue at hand.

So it took em ****ing 3 days to get to me in person, then 2 more days AFTER THIS! to finally admit EA messed up with packaging and give me a key for the warhead -.-

Edit: not to mention they made me jump through a **** ton of hoops before and after that chat session, total of 17 emails back and forth from the support. For friend... took 1 chat request, which i also originally did. waited for 1½ hours. then he got the request for screen share, they asked him to show him try and install it. and they gave him a new key right there -.-

not to mention the screen share program is so broken some of their messages pop up in the middle of the old messages from time to time

My favourite bit was when OP got the same person as before, and basically just went "Oh, it's you again, never mind. Return to your duties."

Glad it all got sorted out in the end anyway.

EA is behind the times. Most big corporations are outsourcing to China now. India's days are numbered. If I go try and speak with EA CS and get a guy named Hamid, I will laugh so hard (for those who saw the new Beavis & Butthead season).
