I basically agree with the OP, it is the first blatant section of the game which is scripted in a silly way. There's not even a need for her to nearly escape after a chase scene. It'd be easy enough to script a reason for Ash/Kaidan to be injured, and the robot body recovered some other way. Marauder Shields is a blatant other event, also Kai Leng. Sheesh. As an adept (and as a vanguard) watching passively during various cutscenes in the story when I'm screaming at the screen to Stasis or Singularity the heck out of the bad guy - very annoying. Thane's death is another example. Also, Legion's death is nonsense. Lots of silliness.

Sure, it's scripted, but not only did I not die to her on my first runthrough (on insanity, by the way), but I reloaded before shooting her. The OP's a troll, just whining because he can't use biotics on an enemy that gives you every indication that you can't use biotics. Sure, it has a health bar. Good for you. You try a warp or throw, see it doesn't work, you have more than enough time to shoot her. Would it be nice if you could use biotics or tech? Sure, probably. Is it the mammoth thing the OP's claiming? Not even remotely.

To be honest this whole scene was crap. Suddenly having pistol makes no sense, immunity to powers makes no sense, the way Shepard dies if you fail makes no sense, and so on.

Also, getting screwed because on a replay I chose the Scorpion and nothing else as an Engineer.

It has nothing to do with metagaming, it's just the game mechanic designed to make the scenario more interesting. It isn't meant to be taken at face value; it's offering a challenge whereby you win or lose depending on how can a shot you are.

If you think that only the use of firearms is preventing your Shep from dying you should try to shoot her with a Scorpion.

You might be very surprised.

Unfortunatly the game automatically switches to you heavy pistol if you are carrying one.

I agree with OP, unfortunately it's just one of the many moments when the game became too dumbed down.
Not to mention that during the original chase, I had 3 biotics available (Shep, Kaidan, Liara),
and I find it very hard to understand why they couldn't stop her.
My soldier femshep could even outrun her.
And IMHO, the situation when Kaidan/Ashley get beaten could have been changed too (I dislike the fact that everything involving them ends up the same - that the terrible decision from 1st part doesn't really affect the story/world, at least not enough for me).

In short: the scene was poorly written/scripted.

But then again the whole biotics was done bad in ME2/3 after how they worked in ME1 and how they should work lore-wise.
