Are any of the missions time-sensitive?

Just wanted to clear the air on something before I really start getting the hours in: will putzing around on sidequests or docking mulitple worlds between missions have any negative impact on them? For example, I have the Grissom Academy side-mission lined up, but I was going to do some stuff on the Citadel and maybe take care of a different side mission first. But the summary for the Grissom Academy makes it seem urgent, so I'm worried that ignoring it for too long will make things go awry later on. Just as an example of what I mean by time-sensitive missions.

Ordinarily I'd just assume ME3 breaks/handwaves the timeline like the last two games, but I've seen comments saying things like how some missions sneak up on you, so I just wanted to check it out.

Also no spoilers please, I'm only a few hours in.

Thanks in advance.

edit: Whoops, it just occured to me that this might have gone better in the gameplay forum...my bad, mods, go ahead and lock if it's a problem.

From what I understand there are two types of timed quests. Main Quest Oriented and Side Quests. Side Quests are good up to a certain point in the story. Main Quest Oriented ones are quests that are tied to planets that you are trying to negotiate with the leaders of. You get these quests from the two parties you are dealing with and they are timed to (I'm not sure whether its a timer based on how many missions you've done or whether its timed until the priority mission to resolve the issue is on that planet, I assume its how many missions you've done) either the priority mission on that planet or how many missions you do before doing them. Side Quests are good up until the halfway point in the story and the end mission of the story. All side quests picked up in the first half are good for the first half, second half for the second half.

So basically, only story missions advance the timeline (like in the first two games)? I won't have to worry about ignoring certain side quests as long as I get to them before the priority missions?

I think so too.

18 hours in, that's what I've been doing all the time.

Some side-missions though cannot be completed when you get them, because the system/store stock, etc. might not be available until later on. So do everything you are sure you can and then go for priority missions..

Question. I've been trying to get 100% in new map points as I play just so I have all the war assets I can get but some areas don't have that and I swear I scanned every inch of it.

The places to scan are the reaper-infested ones.

Although Ninmah Cluster seems "empty". But I had a mission last night before going to bed to go there, so it might not be empty after all.

Grissom Academy is timed, as is a certain mission on Tuchanka.
