Thoug there is more canned dialogue, it hasn't eradicated the amount of dialogue wheel conversations either. It just prevents you from bringing up a new dialogue wheel to go through a no-choice dialogue system. It also has the plus of letting me know when I've exhausted all dialogue options with someone. Instead of bringing up a dialogue option to choose topics I've already looked into, I just get a "Commander" response and I can keep moving.
This. As someone stated earlier we gained the fact that now most people on the Normandy have something to say about the last events (or simply nothing to say and you are done with it). If you remember ME1 and ME2, Joker and a couple of NPCs were about the only ones having a line about what just happened, either way you would go through "Hey, let's talk" to find out that you were facing the same dialogue choices that were brought the other dozen of times you tried to talk to them earlier.
Now you have people moving around the Normandy, talking with eachothers (Garrus and Liara having a drink on the observation deck, the hilarious scene where Garrus and James are sharing their high feats on the crew deck, Javik checking Jack's former quarter, etc.) it definitely brings life to these characters instead of the constant "Can it wait for a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations." And let's add that you can further talk to them on the Citadel.
Are you telling me that you were fine with how it was in the previous games?

If renegade Shep didn't salute Hackett it would break the unity of the story and also seems petty and pointless. Such exploration is more suited to the earlier games in the series perhaps.

Let's face it foks Bioware doesn't make RPG's anymore, they do "cinematic story telling" It's not like they've hidden this fact.

Seriously, who thought my renegade Shepard should be saluting Hackett?
Oh, I don't know, probably every goddamned person who has a clue on military protocol? Since, you know, Shepard was in fact "reinstated"?
I've seen people complaining about renegade Shepard saluteing Hackett several times now. I really just don't get it. You don't become an N7 marine by blatantly not following protocol.
Especially after all the **** Alliance and everyone around Shepard have been doing I can easily see why he might rebel. "Now YOU want my help?! Oh sorry I forgot to salute"
Sure Hackett has always been on Shepard's side, but I can still see the want to object against the system in general. Besides like Anderson said "If you weren't Shepard you would be in jail now for all the **** you've done" so it's not like anyone has the guts to discipline Shepard. Actually that's what the "Ruthless" profile was for.
But yea yea Bioware stated Shepard is afterall a pre-determined character and it seems ME3 solidifies it by making so many past choices irrelevant. Thing is Bioware didn't say that when they made Mass Effect 1. They just decided to change things mid trilogy because it became convenient.

I'm just curious why Bioware thought people would actually enjoy less dialogue and having decisions made for them without us being able to do anything about it? The constant backlash from Dragon Age 2 wasn't enough? Do you people even listen to a word the people that play your games even say? Or is it just bow down and lick EA boot all day long? Seriously, who thought my renegade Shepard should be saluting Hackett? Who thought it was a good idea to take one of the most criticized aspects of Mass Effect 2 and make it standard? Zaeed dialogue? Really? We needed more of that? Who thought it was a good idea to take one of the most criticized aspects of Dragon Age 2 and make it standard? I need to sit there and fight endless waves of npcs during almost every mission?!
Dialogue? We don't need no stinkin dialogue! Don't need no player choices! ONE ENDING FOR YOU! MORE ZAEED! EA told us to make Gears of War!
Because Bioware/EA wanted to attract the FPS/CoD crowd (the stupidest thing ever). And the irony is that that CoD/FPS people don't like the RPG elements that are left in the game so neither group the fans and the new players are satisfied. The problem is that the CoD crowd won't care and will not play the game so only the fanbase is ****ed up. It's kind of double FAILURE.

3 minutes in. Shepard meets hackett at the ending of ME2 arivall.
Q: Where's the salute there?
A: It's no where.
Just pointing out the obvious.
So could we can the answering machine replies about 'breaking precedent' or 'break unity of story' since it's clear that this kind of thing have happened previously in the ME story?
As for Zaeed kind of dialogue for everyone (from what I gather from reading in here), that's just lazy. Since when did 'more' mean 'less' ? What people wanted were more 'meaningfull' interactions with npcs. Instead it sounds like laziness took over and the decision to just do as little as possible with conversations was taken.
I'm frankly quite disturbed by the fact that it sounds like several major parts of the game were done in a way that would normally be thought of as 'cutting corners' in a product we were told got extra time devoted to it after it was claimed to be finished. Quantity over quality is what I read as being Biowares 'new' mantra from all the issues that are brought up by people.

I was then abruptly and rudely rebuffed by one of their wives and another user because I was an "Idiot who plays too much CoD and has never played the game." Which is slightly hilarious because one; I own and beat the game, and two; can;t stand and therefore never touched any CoD or likeminded game in my life. The other two I sent messages to never replied.
Glad to see we're so open minded over in Edmonton.

That's what it's come down to -- if you don't like that which Bioware provideth, you're "an idiot".
Couldn't possibly be a failure on their part.

Half way through? S*** dog, wait till you see the endings
