Bioware's Hard Work

Having played and thoroughly enjoyed every single Bioware rpg since Jade Empire and SWOTOR, I came to be emotionally invested in Bioware's success as a company. My faith and respect for Bioware was unshakeable. I loved them for the compelling characters they gave me, and the incredible worlds they created for me to explore. For the deep, loving care and detail they put into developing their universe, which could not help but exhilirate and thrill me every time I set foot within it.

Where the **** did it all go wrong.

Knowing Bioware's great pedigree and reputation, and fuelled by promises of closure and emotional satisfaction, I expected a lovingly rendered story which would fully expand on and finally conclude the characters and the universe which I had actually come to care about. I expected a truly desperate, epic battle with the promise of either a bright, hard-won and well deserved future or an obscure grave for all civilization.

Instead we are railroaded into three variations of the same exceedingly grim and lazy ending which ultimately fails to deliver on anything Bioware promised, and instead leaves a gigantic ****ing cliffhanger made up of several dozen cliffhangars (Omega and Aria? What happens to my (Emphasis on the possessiveness, here.) crew? WHAT DID I JUST DO TO THE GALAXY?), all of which are pretty much doomed to go unanswered til the end of days. This, more than any of the glaring imperfections and examples of lazy, shoddy writing (A blatant Deus Ex Machina is not how a story is satisfactorily solved.) has ruined the Mass Effect franchise for me. And there are certainly plenty of those unforgivable imperfections. All five minutes of the hard work they put into creating Tali's face() via photoshop(http://www.gettyimag...image/123488108) demonstrates that. I still have a hard time believing that Bioware could possible betray us like that.

Perhaps it is my fault for not expecting that Bioware, after having successfully carried its torch for so long, would stumble on the final leg. You've failed, and I'm certain that my opinion is shared by many others who, like me, were hardcore Bioware fans who expected the very best from you and were given **** for their trouble.

I agree, i dont dislike the ending, but it could have been done much better, for example just because the mass relays were destroyed dont mean FTL wont still work just slower, galactic civilization would be more spread-out, so why does it seem to imply that the galaxy hit a new dark ages with the kid asking about space at the end.

Also what happened to the fleets, did they just vanish at the end?

Why do all choices when talking to the illusive-man at the end trigger the exact same event, is there no way to save anderson?.

I own every single bioware game, some on PC some on Xbox some on both, i honestly thing the EA buy-out was the worst things that has ever happend to bioware, they took the soul from the team.

The ending would have worked if it was a one game story. I didn't want to wait 5 years, like 250 hours of gameplay, like 200 dollars, across 3 games. To get 3 "martyr" endings with different color lights.

Yes, they did a hard work, but at the end, they messed it up completely.

I think I would gladly pay for a happier ending through DLC or a Mass Effect 4. I wouldn't mind if someone found a way to bring Shepard back like they did at the beginning of Mass Effect 2. Another project Lazarus to give him a third chance to live. Though it would require a miracle with all the tech and/or mass relays gone.

I don't see how they can hope to create another game in the ME universe now that could possibly recreate the vastness and scope of the galaxy now.

Seriously, its seems they wanted to bury the ME franchise.

Y'all have said all I could.
It's not that the endings themselves are bad, it's that the execution is so poor, and there's not a single ending that can give you that real "Heck yeah, I saved the Galaxy, I'm a hero!" feeling. Yes, this is a more realistic outcome, yes most military heroes have to make a great sacrifice for the greater good of our world, but this is a science fiction story involving giant space cuddle fish harvesting the social cultures of the entire galaxy... I'm pretty sure the attempts at realism should have been left at the front door in ME1.

The saddest part of all this is that if any of these issues are ever addressed? The questions like what happens with Aria and Omega, what happens the other Fleets, or the fate of the Normandy Crew? If BioWare ever addresses them, it will be in the form of paid DLC that we have to shell out for, and if they ever do decide to give us a happier ending I'm sure it will be yet another 10-20 dollar purchase on the Origins Store.

Steptroll I totally understand what your saying. I am hoping the heads at Bio-Ware actually realize how much they have destroyed their creditability as a company that produces epic rpgs or even good rpgs. I never going to expect anything good to come out  from them again.

I wanna keep comments clean and leave out cusses but this is just how much BioWare ****** me off  with this lastest fail. You charged $80 for that kind of  crap?

First Dragon Age 2 and now Mass Effect 3.

BIOWARE: REMEMBER WHAT MADE YOU POPULAR KOTOR, BALDUR'S GATE SERIES ME1 DRAGON AGE ORIGINS

Please note: They did not have half assed garbage endings. Hero always wins
I am not saying not to try new elements but you take a successful concept and change it to an absolute failing concept.

Don't tell me Dragon age 2 was a success, one of the worst rpgs ever, only got sales cause of how good Dragon Age origins was. Dragon age 2 had crap storyline and lmao the recycled dungeons that no one bothered to hide at all(were you guys not even remotly embarrsses at that). The  first Bioware rpg, I quit after 10 hours and will never bother to finish. Mass Effect 3 is only getting sales now because of how good ME1 and ME2( was a bit short but the dlc filled it up, still not as good as the first in terms of story line.)

Do you honestly think we play and liked the  bioware games  for the fast pace combat or semi realisticness of the combat? HELL NO., we play your game cause of the EPIC STORY DRIVEN GAME. So what the hell happened to the story??Seriously how in world did bioware think those endings were gonna be passable to the fans who were following this game since ME1. I mean really? Way to dump cold buckects on our heads after ONLY 30 HOURS (edit: to be honest it had about 15-20 from the savefiles) of game play with an endings that feel like it came out of someones ass rather than their head.  Notice the the highlighted 30 hours, that how much time for 1 play through doing everything probably alot less if you skipped the cinematics you have seen before.  Did I mention it has 0 replay value cause the endings suck so hard?

Mass relays getting destroyed = humanity getting ****ed cause of lack of resources and over population. Thats why humans moved to colonies in the first place. So why put in all the endings? You have no good ending and the CONCLUSION IS TRASH to a good story. Did I meantion the gameplay is 100% the same as ME2 with a little bit of element of ME1? Took a lot of work to do  that huh? Added with our crap endings. WORST GAME IN 2012.

Why release tali's face in a lame photograph why not have an proper scene at her home planet. I know some fans do not want founding out her face, but since bioware did release it, at least make it properly. WTF with protheins looking like nothing like ME1, why use Dragon Age 2's dumb idea on changing races already developed in the past.

I seriously wish I did not put faith in Bio-ware after Dragon Age 2. I just wasted $80 on the worst game of 2012. User rating of 6.1 IGN LMAO. Last time I ever pre-order a BioWare game, I am so not looking forward to Dragon Age 3 which obviously gonna be a copy of Skyrim from the interviews. We can see from Mass Effect 3 the heads at Bioware has no longer any good ideas.

To fans that have not bought the game yet, you are so lucky, you get to save  $80 or $60 whatever verison people bought. DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU LIKE THE ME SERIES AND STORY CAUSE IT WILL RUIN IT FOR YOU.

The least Bioware can do is refund half the money they scammed off the fans from buying this game LMAO. YEAH YOU SCAMMED US BIOWARE.

WORD OF ADVICE:  REMAKE THE  ENDINGS ( so people get that awsome conlusion to an awsome begining of a story) AND MAKE SURE CRAP LIKE THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN.
If you plan to charge proper endings in dlcs for $XX.XX amont of cash. You can just go F*** yourselves BIOWARE.

Thats my little rage cause I was pissed at the game when I wrote this. Agree or Disagree with me Bioware fans. but at least let yourselves be heard.

And for those that AGREE with me make a bigdeal out of this, we did not deserve to be treated like this by BIOWARE, game was not worth the price.

It wouldn't sting so much if Bioware hadn't had a reputation of having great world building and storytelling beforehand. Or if the reviews hadn't all been thinly veiled attempts to keep EA's ad revenue. Honestly, I wouldn't be so mad if that hadn't been the case.

ME3 had the potential to be a truly great game. There are little bits of greatness in there - Grunt's assault on the rachni nest and the Codex entry on Harvesting were legitimately awesome - but so much of it is overshadowed by glaring flaws and shoddy writing. With the exception of Wrex's conversations on the Normandy, I didn't feel like I was meeting old friends one last time to kick ass and save the galaxy. I felt like I was talking to cardboard cutouts of people who look like my friends but can't give me the time of day.

how did u find the original?

The technical term is crowdsourcing - show the picture to millions of people and someone is bound to have dabbled in stock photos and will recognise it, aggravated by the fact that the picture looks blatantly out of place and thus attracts attention.

So is TESV: Skyrim too. It's still a good game even if main quest completly break in the middle and water glitch/save corrupt and other thingy they got at release and beyond. ^_^

Except that pesky broken import tool, awful endings, lazy Quarian resolution, chunks of missing exposition, truncated ME2 squad roles and lack of dialogue choices.

I do love the hell out of multiplayer though. I expected to have reversed reactions.

At least in skyrim you building towards something, In Mass Effect3 the ending kills off all your accomplishments, no mass relay no one gets back to their planet.

One thing I'm seeing occassionally is the notion the game was rushed or the dev team didn't try as hard somehow. It's disheartening to see that because I can tell you the development team worked *incredibly* hard on the game, including a ton of personal sacrifice (hours worked, holidays skipped etc). This was a labor of love for the team and we're all very proud of what has been accomplished. There are bugs that got through (face import. we know :( ) but they are being investigated for fixing etc.

Ill just post this dev quote

Dont say they didnt work hard just because you couldnt be with your blue alien at the end. There are many things affected by how you play the game (Krogan survival, pavalen vs thessia, reapers die or retreat, life stays the same or changes forever, sheppard survival, the normandy survival)

Anyone with a critical mind can see at LOT of work was done to make this game

Geez. The Talishoop is laaaaaaaazy. Thought they put more into it than that.

I'm all for Shepard sacrificing himself and blowing up the relays and all that stuff, but then you have to explain the consequences of such actions. You can't just say "THIS HAPPENS, HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE GAME, ROLL CREDITS". How can you not show the impact it has on all the people you just spent 3 games meeting and helping? Kind of shocking that BioWare, or any developer, could make such a gigantic oversight. It's like... less than half of an ending.

I dont have much of a problem with them, I feel quite acomplished when i destroy the reapers, save my crew and survive at the end...
