The Issue : When I try to speak to someone using the in game voice chat, the blue speaker button does not light up showing that I am transmitting.

Settings : My voice chat setting is set on push-to-talk and Always force audio is off (not related to a transmit issue anyway)

Workaround : If I set my microphone boost in windows to the absolute max 100% volume and +30dB, AND if I put the microphone very close to my mouth AND speak really loudly, then the transmit button will light up and seems to transmit. My mic  works fine in other applications like : Ventrilo, Steam, Teamspeak and Mumble that do not have this problem.

Hypothesis : Here is my understanding of how voice chat applications work :

Always on : When the voice comm is set to always on, the application will have a sensitivity setting and try to actively detect when the user spears compared the the background noise, and try to only activate the mic when the user actually speaks.

Push-to-talk : Whenever the user presses the talk button, the transmit icon should light up and the application should be transmitting whatever comes trough the mic, because the user activates him himself, there should be no sensitivity checkup involved, basically whenever the user presses the button, the application should be transmitting everything that comes through the mic, whatever it is.

Basically right now, the game in the background works exactly as if the voice was set to "Always on" at all times, but when you set it on push-to-talk, it acts as if you temporarily activate your "Always on" for a short time. Meaning you press the button, nothing happens immediately, but the game will start checking what comes through your mic while you keep the button pressed, and if it deems that the user spoke, then it will actually transmit.

Just wanted to second that I've noticed also that my mic doesn't work unless it's volume is set so that it has audible hiss/feedback, so I think your theory might be right...

Yeah I can't get voice chat to work for me either. I really don't want to edit any microphone settings in windows for one lousy game.
