I've only done 2 missions in like 3 hours of playing, just because I'm enjoying my time exploring and talking to people. I'm super early in the game, but I love it so far. Its more interesting and layered than any game I've ever played.

WOW!! ...and to think I was very excited about this game a month ago! I had it pre-ordered but decided to cancel after the demo...didn't like...to take a wait and see approach. Now that the game has landed, I'm reading the same sort of divisiveness seen with DA2...definitely a very bad sign!
It's true that everyone has their own opinion and no game can satisfy everyone......but this talk of autopilot dialogue, lousy endings, etc, etc, is hard to ignore. I really loved the series and to have it ruined would be a crime to me. I think I'll skip ME3 and leave my ME experience intact. A repeat of DA2 is something I will do everything to avoid. Sooo sad to have such a great series end this way. Prefer not to chance things now..after DA2 and TOR being disappointments. Hard to believe this is the state of things.
Oh well...at least I still have ES5 and the FO series. So sad!!
Don't be a fool, it's just internet hyperbole making mountins out of molehills. ME3 is great, it has sucessfully blended genres together an made a very good product. The auto-piolt diolouge isn't an actual issue, The siolouge is more like Lair of the Shadow Broker, where shepard will have maybe one or two line that he says on his own, as either a banter or a continuation of what diolouge you pick, and the rest are the things you pick. They streamlined the diolouge without cutting out too much to make the player have too little control.

I disagree, and I cosider myself an RPG player - not only on the PC, but P&P as well.
Even if I look at ME1 strictly from a RPG experience way, ME1 isn't the chest of gold many people picture it. It only gets really good, if you do not look at the sidequests at all.
Lets face it, most of the ME1 sidequests are boring and repetitive. The levelrecycling was horrible and that contributed to the fact that you rarely could remember what character appeared in what sidequest. When I met Helena Blake in ME2 I thought "What? Who are you?" I had to look it up in the wiki to make my brain remember a blurry scene. The same with Nassana Dentius. The romances were weird as well. I'm just replaying ME1 and Ash thinks I'm totally into her, even I never said even one encouraging word to her (In my eyes she's a xenophobe bibletumper - exactly what I'd never want). Granted the Main story was phantastic, but if you want to have all those little people to re appear in ME2, you'll have to force yourself through all those generic sidemissions that all work out more or less the same. Also as a Roleplayer I thought the invernory management crampy and having to manage up to 150 items was a pain. I don't say that the next-to-non-existant inventory system of ME2 was better - I'm just suggesting, that it wasn't the wonderful Roleplaying experience either. Same for the Leveling system. ME1 is far from being a bad RPG, but it's not roleplaying heaven as many state.
Besides... I'm not fond of EA either, but you cannot channel all your wrath at them due ti ME1 being so different. Bioware was with EA already when they made ME1 - just launch it - the EA Logo comes directly after Biowares.

Obviously you didn't take the time to enjoy what the game has to offer. 13 hours??? You must have only done the main missions, and nothing else. Therefore, I'm not sure you are a real RPG "expert".

Please enlighten me, what does the game have to offer then FPS level after FPS level. Please tell me where the rpg aspects come in.

Show us some screenshots, I doubt the cloth textures look different on yours than on his. They look identical to what i am seeing in my game. The game does not have high resolution textures.

You lost me at rating the graphics 10 and you have obviously not seen the Witcher 2 graphics if you claim that Mass Effect 3 is the best looking game graphics wise for the PC.
Read all pages I said it 3 times I have not seen the Witcher 2, but I do plan on buying it on payday.

No and neither do most games out there unless you download mods.

What did you expect when you rush through a game?
Five hours in, and I am barely able to explore in the ways you can in other Bioware games. The intro feels like it is rushing the player along to the plot you are supposed to understand beforehand. I have no clue how a person can get through any Bioware game in under 15 hours, buut still, the OP does have a point.
Sure, the games ME2 and ME3 are incredibly fun to play, but I think a lot of what Bioware games, well Bioware games was sacrificed to appease....nvm. Me2 and Me3 have great story, but it's not the same. Everything is ooh shiny! and not so much heart. I am not talking about all the little emotional punches yo find in the cutscreens and plot twists.. It just all seemss a bit shallow after playing games like Jade Empire, KotOR, ME1, DA:O, DA2, and the older stuff.
But the game is incredibly enjoyable so far, maybe that is all that matters.=|
Edit: Another thing they forgot to include is the happy ending. This will not do >

Play Witcher 2 with DX11 and everything maxed out. Actually start searching for screenshots and videos of it. The game has high resolution textures built in. Also Bethesda released the already made high resolution textures. Since all AAA game developers make high resolution textures and then scale down so they can fit it in the consoles.

Just like not every one likes JRPG's. Personally I hated Fallout, and Oblivion is the only Elder Scrolls that I enjoyed, that said I put in 80 hours and was done. Like many others, never advanced far in the main story. Assassin's Creed is also considered an RPG and appeals to different gamers.
Its not wrong or right, it's just a very very different form of RPG. Bioware has always always focused on story first and leading you through that story. Is it linear? To an extent. Its not YOUR story like in Oblivion, its Shepard's Story. And since you're playing Shepard, its your Shepard's story. There is a huge difference. I think people who loved the old RPG's like Baldur's gate series, Planescape, Ultima 4-7, and all Bioware games love or will love Mass Effect. And not to get snobbish but mentioning Zelda as your first RPG does not lend any weight to you being a hard core RPG gamer.
You say you got confused about the story up till the last hour? Errrr... I would simply say that you don't seem to like story driven RPG's. The reason there aren't 200 different types of cheese and 10 different houses you can buy in the game is because this is a galactic invasion and you're trying to rescue the galaxy. If its not important to the story or goal, it should not be in the game (Relatively speaking). Story is Bioware's and Mass Effect's STRONGEST Selling point and if you were confused by the story, its no wonder you didn't like it.
Bioware is the ONLY game company out there making such focused story driven RPG's and while you might not like it, its at least an advancement or evolution over the other company who just re do the same old formula and harp on gamer OCD to collect everything to sell their games.

Uh no. Mass Effect games are primarily story driven third person shooter games. RPG elements are secondary to the story and third person shooting. It is not what I would call an RPG game.LinksOcarina wrote...
Mass Effect is an RPG though, an RPG with shooter elements.
It's just not the style of RPG she particularaly likes. That is what I was getting at basically. I personally think that is a tad narrow minded, but to each their own.

Soulwatcher1974, I seriously think you have a major problem if you think all RPG's are the same. You said you spent 800 hours in Oblivion. But while Oblivion is an RPG, it is also an open world RPG. The difference being that the story in Oblivion was secondary to the gameplay and exploring.

Read all 7 pages I said Lost Odessy was one of my all time favorite RPG's. And guess what its leiner, but its still one of the best rpg's that I have played to date.

ME1 wasn't even close to "outstanding". ME2 however... now THAT was outstanding. And from what i've seen so far in ME3 demo and couple of videos on the internet, ME3 can be even better.

It is still a roleplaying game, the fact that you play as shepard and make decisions etc means that you are playing a ROLE= RPG
