Read all 7 pages I said Lost Odessy was one of my all time favorite RPG's. And guess what its leiner, but its still one of the best rpg's that I have played to date.

Why don't you read my post carefully.   There are many different types of RPG's.   Now that we know your idea of the best RPG is Lost Odessy, and your first RPG was Zelda, I think its safe to say you prefer the traditional JRPG type of RPG's.  The one where you explore tons, where you can collect to your heart's content etc.

Also, there is a VERY BIG difference between Japanese RPG's and Western RPG's.  Most Western RPG's are pushing the envelope and trying new different things.  For whatever reason, the japanese who had a strangle hold on RPG's have stagnated in the past decade, re hashing the same old same old with slight differences here and there.  Take for example the Final Fantasy series.

You don't consider decisions like which of your companions should live or die, or the different endings in Mass Effect or the Renegade/Paragon dialogue to be significant at all.  You're seem to want more of the same traditional RPG's with dare I say turn based combat.

This is not a dig, I enjoy those kinds of RPG's as well.  I don't like FPS games but I still like Mass Effect, the combat is fun and I can always turn the difficulity down.

PS.  Did you play the game with full RPG narrative decisions on?   You made it sound like most conversations were cutscenes which is not playing the RPG mode of the game.

I do play western RPG's as well I own every Bethesda RPG from Morrwind to Skyrim. And I stated 3 or 4 times in the thread that my Last Oblivion save had 320hrs on it and all quests complete. Not only that but I buy every Bethesda game on all 3 platforms and complete them all on every platform.

I even bought DA 1 on PC and PS3 and I lost track of how many times I completed Dragon Age on both systems. Heck I even bought DA2 but only on PS3 and that was enough for me. EA ruined DA as well.

"my first rpg was Zelda"
"I would rate the graphics at a 10"

What?

Other than that, I agree.

13 hours is WAAAAYYYY to short to even think about having gotten a solid grasp of the game. Way, way too short. I'm over that and haven't even been to Tuchanka yet.

I think you guys are confusing the 80's Zelda with todays zelda. And I have heard many times in this thread the Witcher 2 has the best graphics. I will own it on payday, but for now ME3 is the best I seen on my PC to date.

How is this thread still going? Anyway, the OP is either lying or trolling, becaus saying that you beat the game in 13 hours and that you "did everything the game gave me" is not possible, even on easy mode. You get like 10 sidequests as soon as you enter the citadel and those alone took me like 5 hours!

How is this not an action RPG but Mass Effect was? Just because you can drive on a barren planet and go into the same 3 buildings over and over doesnt mean its an rpg.

ME1 was on a 4gb disk. If it was on a 8gb disks like ME3 I'm pretty sure each landscape would of been different. But then again the scanning in ME2 and ME3 is much better than the Mako, am I right?

Before you bash read all 8 pages I said I only did the quests given to me. I did not go looking for side quests. You could hardly call them quests, each planet is a FPS level. I had no desire to play them if I wanted to play a shooter I would load COD,

Please explain the need to do pointless side quests. You are given very little choice in what happens in the game.

A little history about myself, I have been a gamer sense 1984 and my first rpg was Zelda (*80's Zelda guys)

Ok seriously, whatever happened to the term Action-Adventure. Lmao. Just like how Beyond Good and Evil is a decent RPG, and lets not forget Banjo-Kazooie! All those items, abilities, the storyline, the scrolling text! Just because we role-play as a character doesn't make it a full on RPG.

Haah.

Ok, first, you keep saying FPS(first person shooter), and that is an incorrect term used to describe this game, as ME3 is a TPS (third person shooter).Second, you don't have to look for sidequests, the game will give them to you when you pass by people that are talking, or when you talk to squadmates. Third, really, COD? Call of Duty is such a completely different style of game that the only simularities to be found are shooting elements and guns.

I'll say it again. You like exploration so you enjoy sand box RPG's which is exactly what all the Elder Scroll games are about.

I love story driven RPG's which you seem to hate.   I know many people hated DA2.  And I can't defend many of the decisions in ME2 like the inventory and re use of maps and the swarms of mobs that appear in waves.  But I could forgive all that because the story was amazing.  That was the FIRST computer game where when the plot twist came I was like  WTF!!! I was so supprised.  I also love the Mass Effect story and exploring the galaxy through the eyes of Shepard.

You obviously don't like FPS games which I don't either which is why I only play using Biotics, no guns, not much aiming either.   Exploration is not required for an RPG, you basically don't like story drive RPG's.  Accept it and move on.

You sir win the prize this is the best reply I recieved in 8 pages. The made the game with the intention to please as many people as possible. Which means gutting the RPG aspect of the game and turning it into a shooter. Because lets face it they are way more shooter fans out then then RPG fans. ME3 is all about the money!

Every game is about money. How do you think game develloping companies are supposed to survive if they don't want to make money.

Also, if you compare ME3 to ME2, the RPG elements like inventory system and Leveling system have not been cut, but expanded upon.
It's a compromise between the ME1 system and the ME2 system.

And seriously, this game was designed as an action RPG from the start, meaning, that Shooter elements play a role in this setting. The shooter elements in ME1 were... sub optimal, to state it politely. This has been improved along with a LOT of other things, the community wanted.
Go look through the old forums, look what the most people complained about, and look what they then changed.
ME3 is the product of Bioware listening to their fans.

Would you like it better, if they'd not listen to us?
Really, you don''t make sense here.

Of cause it might be, that ME3 doesn't fit your taste. Maybe it won't fit mine when I recieve and try it tomorrow.
But we are 2 in a community of tens of thousends, possibly more.
Look what people demanded after ME1 and ME2 - thats what we got.

If you want Bioware to not listen to the community and not to be interested in money, you are living in a very strange dream world. I want them to make ****loads of money to be able to continue producing good games while trying to please the community as much as possible.

Sheesh you didnt even bother to read 2 posts above you. Please explain the RPG aspects of ME3 to me, because I fail to see any.

So you don't consider developing relationships with your companions RPG?  Developing it to the extent where you can have a romance?   Or decide to ****** of allien races and eventually face the Reapers alone a significant RPG decision ?  If you played ME1, having saved/killed the Racnid Queen affects a decision in ME3, that's not an RPG? In ME2 you could  have killed off several companions who will not appear in ME3, that's not RPG?

Please enlightening us what you consider an RPG.  Seriously, please list for us what you consider essential to be an RPG.  What kinds of decisions do you consider important to be an RPG?  What exactly did Zelda have that you consider it a good RPG while ME3 isn't?

Please explain how you develope a relationship when most of the choices are made for you. I played the game start to finish and I had very little impact on the story. A RPG is all about choices, have you even played ME1. Look at how many decisions you had to make in the game. Bioware stripped ME3 down to a shooter with a story. And if you like it and are happy with it so be it, I am not going to knock you for it.

That does seem odd, as when you play ME3 it automatically registers you're game.

Elaborate, since I can't see what tech has to do with defining an RPG?

Alright, now I can see for a fact you haven't really played it.I'm like 15 hours in and can aldready see how all my choices have effected the game immensly. What they took away was the times when you would say something and get the exact same result. Theres still plenty of choices to be had!

Obvisouly I stuck to the main story, and the game is very much like COD. Once you get to a planet, they funnel you from point a to point b on a set path that you can not vary from. Heck you can not even advance or run away from battle until every mob is killed. They may have you click a few things on a level and guess you get a small CS and off to the next planet to rinse and repeat.
