I do play western RPG's as well I own every Bethesda RPG from Morrwind to Skyrim. And I stated 3 or 4 times in the thread that my Last Oblivion save had 320hrs on it and all quests complete. Not only that but I buy every Bethesda game on all 3 platforms and complete them all on every platform.emyln wrote...
Why don't you read my post carefully. There are many different types of RPG's. Now that we know your idea of the best RPG is Lost Odessy, and your first RPG was Zelda, I think its safe to say you prefer the traditional JRPG type of RPG's. The one where you explore tons, where you can collect to your heart's content etc.Soulwatcher1974 wrote...
Read all 7 pages I said Lost Odessy was one of my all time favorite RPG's. And guess what its leiner, but its still one of the best rpg's that I have played to date.
Also, there is a VERY BIG difference between Japanese RPG's and Western RPG's. Most Western RPG's are pushing the envelope and trying new different things. For whatever reason, the japanese who had a strangle hold on RPG's have stagnated in the past decade, re hashing the same old same old with slight differences here and there. Take for example the Final Fantasy series.
You don't consider decisions like which of your companions should live or die, or the different endings in Mass Effect or the Renegade/Paragon dialogue to be significant at all. You're seem to want more of the same traditional RPG's with dare I say turn based combat.
This is not a dig, I enjoy those kinds of RPG's as well. I don't like FPS games but I still like Mass Effect, the combat is fun and I can always turn the difficulity down.
PS. Did you play the game with full RPG narrative decisions on? You made it sound like most conversations were cutscenes which is not playing the RPG mode of the game.
I even bought DA 1 on PC and PS3 and I lost track of how many times I completed Dragon Age on both systems. Heck I even bought DA2 but only on PS3 and that was enough for me. EA ruined DA as well.
