After 6 hours of game play, sadly I can say I'm a little depressed. I mean, it's an okay game still, but lacks the feeling the last two installments have. Not being to see my Shepards face again from ME1 in ME3 kinda took away the "emotional" attachment. (I don't even know who you are!!) Auto-Dialog. I think Ashley was right about Cerberus controlling Shepard, I barely have input in what he says! Even the neutral option is gone, when a selection of dialog actually pops up. Is it me or is Liara ugly now? Characters look different now. Can't tell of its for better or worse yet. Combat is fun, as a big player of all three Gears of War I see a slight resemblance but not how they say. Anyway, just my opinion.

About half of the BSN community I think.

I don't have a problem with the game so far, feels like an improvement to me.

I'm just thinking to myself...

...ISN'T LIARA SUPPOSED TO BE THE SHADOW BROKER? You know, like, busy... brokering? Not working on some dig site.

But yeah, what you said too.

EDIT:

I do like the game in some ways, dislike it in others. I don't like the lack of freedom you have compared to Mass Effect 1 and 2, but I do like a lot of the character interactions and the variety in weapons and armor.

I don't really have that "Mass Effect" feeling yet, but the ME2 didn't have it either for me the first time I played it. Now it feels like ME, so I'm expecting 3 will be the same by the end of this playthrough/start of my next.

This is my first time playing ME completely blind, so that might be part of it. Usually I have some sort of guide, this time I'm avoiding that.

Not even a bit, actually liked it better than ME2.
And im excluding combat while saying that.

If anyone is really dissapointed then they did set their hopes for the game too damn high.

I'm on the half of BSN that's not disappointed with this game.

It improved with each game.

So far I'm having a blast with it.. Things look great from where I'm sitting and I'm thrilled to just be back in a BioWare game! The face issue isn't a big deal to me, but I see that a lot of folks are pretty upset by it. II'm too early in the game to comment much on dialogue options though, so you may be right there.

Don't give up on it though! Maybe the honeymoon is a bit rough but there's probably still a great game in there for you.

The only problem I have with it is that my todldler isn't letting me play as much as I'd like!

It's hardly just him is it, there's plenty of others.

I'll reserve judgement until I've played the game.

First couple hours were a bit shaky, but since then it's been fantastic.

She kind of explains early on why she isn't very busy.

She still is....check latter on the game. She also explains why she is working on the dig site if you talk to her on the ship.

Yeah sometimes the honeymoon has you with food poisoning, stuck in a hotel, praying for whatever angel or demon to come and bring you solace.

And sometimes your just stuck in a hotel because of monsoon season.

And sometimes the honeymoon is awesome.

Doesn't mean you get divorced just because of one bad moment.

I think I have a unique perspective because I only played 45 minutes last night because I something to do. So as it stands I have 45 minutes of playthrough. I like the tone and sense of urgency that they have set. I'm not accustomed to only having 2 dialog choices, but hopefully it'll get a little more complicated as I progress through the game. So far I don't know why ME2 needed to happen storywise (other than being perceived as 'ex-cerberus') but obviously as I play, the ME2 story will become more relevant.

Its a nice game. But it feels unfinished to me. Like they just slappped it together at the last minute and rushed it. Some things are buggy. Others are sloppy. I'm not impressed.

I've actually considered selling my disc...

BioWare is starting to make THQ look decent. Which is bad imo. Considering THQ has a worse reputation with game making.

The game is amazing (so far)

The only things I have to 'gripe' about are no local MP & DLC shenanigans which is completely un-campaign related.

People in general seemed to expect a game heavily focussed on RPG elements, which is a focus the whole franchise has been drifting away from ever since ME2. These folks are the disappointed group. It's an issue of false expectations.

8 1/2 hours in, and aside from having to recreate Shepard's face, so far so good for me. It's more Mass Effect 2 than Mass Effect 1. Yeah, the convo has been streamlined so that there's less clicking, and I like picking up quests via eavesdropping, but I wish I could go up to the person and ask them for more info on what they need.

There is still a bit of "go fetch" going on, and the "find someone who needs this thing" quest like DA2 had. But at least there are no MMO map markers.

I'd have been disapointed if I had not played the demo.

Just like the demo it lacks that sparkly polish that differentiates a AAA title from others.

I was, until I restarted my import as an Infiltrator. I've been an Infiltrator the past two games, and decided I'd go Sentinel at the start of this one. Had a hard time connecting with Shep again. It was probably a mixture of the class change, the auto dialogue, the fact that my Shep's a Spacer and probably shouldn't care that much about Earth, and that there's only two dialogue options now when you *do* get options.

He just didn't feel like *my* Shepard.

Strangely enough, now that I'm playing Infiltrator, again, I feel like I'm starting to become emotionally invested again.

Not saying the game's bad or not - still haven't decided. It definitely reminds me of DA2 at parts, but not the *bad* parts of DA2, necessarily.

I won't mention spoilers, but the only really *bad* thing (minus the fact the auto-dialogue doesn't reflect my Shepard, and I went from a pure Paragon, to a Renegade, so I'm not constantly talking about how important Earth is to me) is there's an emotional moment on Mars that they keep trying to repeat through the game... they've repeated it about 3 times now in my playthrough, and it's at the point where it has no emotional impact on me now. I won't say what it is, I'm sure people who have played know what I'm talking about, and I plan on posting this in the Story/Campaign forum. But it just strikes me as bad/cheap writing.

But yeah. Don't know if I'm disappointed yet. Once I can import my FemShep's face, and do an alternate run with someone who clearly wouldn't say anything the auto-dialogue has been making my Shep say, I'll have a better answer to that question.

That's how the devs were selling the game right up until they got very quiet.
There is a thread on one of the other forums with pages of Dev quotes.
