I am enjoying the game thus far however the writing certainly could use improvements and greater attention to detail. What is most disappointing is omitting the neutral dialogue option, consequently replacing it with autodialogue. While I can appreciate some scenes requiring a particularly flow that wouldn't be natural were the player allowed to frequently interrupt. It removes an element from the series many of us preferred.

Beyond this the squadmates from ME2 having such a fleeting role proof enough we cannot trust the devs going forward. A recall Elite Magnet/Midget (forget his name) and even Smudboy going into lengthily debates noting the variables would prevent their inclusion. I myself, made similar arguments at times but lowed the sword, so to speak over time, especially when Garrus/Tali were announced. Devs assured people they would have a role, that ME2 would be important and while a few do. Only the two fan favorites being squadmates is a severe letdown. I often wonder if the only reason those two were chosen is because BioWare knew the backlash would be immense.

Once I have played more into it. I can comment further, although I have read the plot leaks. Overall the game is good, great perhaps in some areas, but in others it misses the mark.

The game is an excellent shooter, just too bad it doesn't really feels like a good RPG anymore. Too many cutscenes and autodialogue gives me the feeling I'm watching a movie where I can choose what they say rather then develop my character. Also the small things in autodialogues and such that is forced onto my character makes it feel like I no longer control's him. It feels like Bioware allows me to control him, rather to play him in a way. There are things in the game that railroads your character into a specific mindset or path and I don't like those things in a RPG.

Kind of sad really as Bioware was one of the last big developers when it came to making good story based RPG's. And if this is what we can expect of RPG mechanics from a Bioware title in the future I'm afraid I won't be buying any more games before they have been released and I can see the forums and people's reaction to them. Seeing the changes they made to DA2 and their promises that they learnt from the feedback. Then seeing ME3 and that the game gives the same feeling that they focus on action and let the rpg bit be well a minor part of the game is something I do think is bad.

Oh no worries, Witcher 2 comes in April for 360. And Witcher 3 will be coming around the corner. And that ain't considering the myriad of other indie, and triple A titles around.

I'm playing ME3 to the end to see my story come to a conclusion. But DA 3 is going to get plenty of laughs from me. The Fish-Elves, the bipolar homosexual mage with major personality changes, and the lesbian pirate just there for the good ol' fan service.

Ahhhh...who remembers Minsc and Boo?

i like how this game isnt heavily focused on just rpg, its obviosly that bioware is trying to make a game that everyone can enjoy and all my friends like me3 the most so far including me. Its damn good and if you think me2 and me1 is more enjoyable gameplay wise or rpg wise i think you are retarded.

You're obviously the call of duty trash that Bioware brought over.

Now now, let's keep this generalization to a low.

I haven't met an avid CoD fan yet that likes ME 2-3. Infact I know a few of them that quit after ME1 because they thought what made the game unique from other 3rd person shooters was taken out.

I didn't hate any of the ME games but there are some seriously damn stupid people at Bioware if they think they'll get the CoD gamer's interest longer than a few days. Even the multiplayer segment isn't up to snuff with the offering an average CoD game gives, or a good GoW match.

So a difference of opinion equates to being retarded? Well aren't you wonderful. I might debate this but alas, I prefer dealing with people that at least have a sense of maturity.

What I've found interesting is reading the story forum and just how much peoples attitudes towards the game change after they see the ending(s).

I played through ME1 and ME2 twice over the past week. I finished my second ME2 playthrough right as ME3 unlocked for me on Monday night. Game was fantastic until I hit the last 20 minutes. I won't touch ME3 ever again.

One thing I'm seeing occassionally is the notion the game was rushed or the dev team didn't try as hard somehow. It's disheartening to see that because I can tell you the development team worked *incredibly* hard on the game, including a ton of personal sacrifice (hours worked, holidays skipped etc). This was a labor of love for the team and we're all very proud of what has been accomplished. That kind of a reply goes a long way to make me feel better about the current state of affairs. A look "to the other side", if you will.
As was said in another thread, it is incredilbly easy to personify the big company, letting all the things that bother you pile up and roll into one evil bun (from Origin to the neverdying debate over hairstyles). Different departements, marketing, all that jazz - but how could we even try to separate them? To our eyes it IS one big towering name. So this input makes it easier to see/feel that the game was made with love and that, for me at least, counts as a big positive.

Now, must wait for patch...must wait...=]

Witcher 2 I haven't played yet, I play on PC so I have the options to do so. I played the first one and it didn't quite grab me as I hoped. Not sure why but a bug screwed my savegame over and I never really bothered starting over. I was in act 2 or something when that happened. For my RPG fix I have TES games, they provide open world and allow me to play what I want the way I want.

I will probably play ME3 just to conclude the story, DA3 I will not buy unless iut turns out really good.Which I strongly doubt it will... Seeing how they said they would learn from DA2 and then making ME3 a lot similar to DA2 with regard to heavy focus on combat, not so much on RPG stuff I doubt they will ever learn. :P Just how they take things you have done previous and alter it to fit their story show's they don't care that much for the choices the player makes unless it fits their story perfect. If it won't fit the story, then a easy rewrite is just done and voila they can go on telling their story.

Minsc and Boo are 2 characters you simply cannot forget. That is how you make RPG characters unique. :)

I'm enjoying the story ...
... even though their doing too much (endings for every single side character).
The voice acting is excellent ...
... the writing feels forced at times,
... and the pacing in some of the edits is really really bad.
The cutscenes are well framed ...
... but character eyelines are schizophrenic.
The game has too much gore/blood for my tastes ...
... so I just don't use certain weapons.
Even though it starts with an attack on Earth ...
... it feels like it takes forever to get the story moving.
I dislike some of the changes to the interface ...
... and some graphics look worse than ME2 (not sure why).
I loathe the missions that are basically nonstop action ...
... they are simply exhausting to me,
... and I find myself hoping they would just end already.
Collision detection has some problems (really bad in MP).
I spent part of the intro stuck inside Anderson,
... and many missions I'm outta ammo,
... and I can't pick up more,
... because the one I need is beneath the terrain (though visible).
... (occaisionally I can stand directly over it, spin, and get it)

All-in-all ...
... I cancelled my preorder, then I bought the download after the forums were shut to non-owners.
... The game is better than the demo (even though demo is IN the game).
... The demo (IMO) does not do the game justice (those two levels are blah).

Maybe not the best example there if you're trying to make a case for the modern characters being worse. Minsc was tons of fun... but kind of preposterous, no?

Considering my expectations were incredibly low, not really. Feels were had at multiple points, and I anticipate a significant amount in the up coming Geth/Quarian arc. I just hope the endings don't completely kill the game for me like I think they will.

I'm glad I didn't pre-order CE for $80. Seems like a lot of people are disappointed with the game, especially with the ending. Gonna wait for some price drops, and maybe by then Bioware has fixed the problems.

You know what else is disheartening?

Seeing Liara in flashback when I romanced Tali and didn't voluntarily speak to Liara the whole damn game.

I am disapointed with the conversation bit in the game. I hardly get a say in what my character says in this game. I pick an option, but then Shep keeps talking for several minutes. Saying stuff and behaving in a way I don`t want him to. Shep doesn`t feel like my character in this game at all. I couldn`t import the face either, and it wasn`t possible to create the same face in me3 as the one I had in the other games. That bit disapoints me alot.

I haven`t finished the game, yet. But I am guessing I am at least half-way through it. So far I only have 5 squadmates (one of them I had to buy via dlc). Is that it? Only 5?

7, including DLC.

And I think the autodialogue is influenced by past decisions, and your renegade/paragon score.
