oh, some things are nice. weapon and armor customization is great, I found Boo and got my fish back, music is nice, Citadel is big again.
but overall? this is the last bioware game I will buy on release date/for full price, and the major reason i didn't cancel my preorder is mostly for old times sakes. Mass Effect 1 and 2 helped me pull through a difficult period in my life, part of the reason why I got as attached as I did. I've met some great people thanks to becoming part of the fandom. for that alone, I chose to give bioware my money. but mass effect 3 taught me to get detached again. and for that I'm also thankful, as it will save me both heartache and money in a future.

The Normandy is soooo dark. Why is it so dark?
Face Import bug. I mean really?
The camera is way too close.
Other than that, it is great so far.

One thing I'm seeing occassionally is the notion the game was rushed or the dev team didn't try as hard somehow. It's disheartening to see that because I can tell you the development team worked *incredibly* hard on the game, including a ton of personal sacrifice (hours worked, holidays skipped etc). This was a labor of love for the team and we're all very proud of what has been accomplished. There are bugs that got through (face import. we know) but they are being investigated for fixing etc.
It woud be nice if Bioware would show the same dedication (or at least show some sign that you care about customers at all) when it comes down to known problems that have been addressed in dozens of threads all over the forum. To point out only two of them:
- lack of FOV adjustability
- excessive keybinding to the spacebar
I completely understand that Bioware may not be able to paste an answer in every single thread since topics like these two come up every day. But when I read the 37th topic about a horribly narrow FOV and Bioware continues to completely ignore the topic and there still is not even a single statement regarding this issue, then the people sure will be pissed off.
I have yet to see a professional ME3 review that does not mention the controls/key binding to be messy and in need of improvement. That said: I still haven't seen the slightest effort to address the problem on the part of Bioware whatsoever, nor is there any statement on whether the issue will be addressed at all.
I am aware that Mass Effect is a console port and both the above mentioned problems originate therein. But if you just don't care about PC customers, I expect you at least, to be honest about it.
There is a statement regarding FoV, ON TWITTER.
It goes something along the lines that the game looks worse with different FOV.
Anyhoe, working "hard" doesn't always result in better product.
And yes, i am dissapointed so far, because instead of improving existing features, they decided to go and
strip or change them for worse. Other thing i can't wrap my head around is the community which will find amy reason to justify "less is more" approach BW/EA decided to take.

Only had some complaints really. Parts of the story were crap, ie, poorly written, but I guess thats just due to simply skipping alot of the true story for action, and an attempt to lure in new players, while also attempting to please older ones with imported saves.
The spacebar does all... Its ****ing annoying as hell. Died quite afew times trying to cover and ended up rolling away or vaulting over something getting me killed.
The squadmates... dont come across as well as previous installments personality wise.
Thats pretty much it though, the game was solid through and through for me and I enjoyed it.

How could anyone think it was rushed...hell the game was delayed for 3-4 months to add more stuff and make it even better, yes I agree that the endings were slightly weak however they arent as 'bad' as all the ragers are making out yes I would have liked slighty more varation in the endings bar the change of colour but it was a good closure to end of the trilogy.
Well done ME Bioware team for the hard work (However I will not forgive EA for the Day 1 DLC fiacso)

I love the ME series and I *want* to like ME3, to see it as a great end cap for the trilogy, but I"m finding that hard to do at this point...

But those things pale next to the rush I got during some of the fights- they felt like actual combat should: frenetic, fluid and harrowing. Each fight gets my adrenaline going and at my age and history of playing video games (42 and playing them since the 1970s) that's NOT easy to do. Previous Mass Effect games, I always knew how to approach the battlefield- put squad mates here and here, hold the chokepoint or create one and turn on the Magical Murder Machine.
In Mass Effect 3, I can try that- but it never goes the way I plan- and that's AWESOME. The bad guys use cover and flank better, they screw up my plans and use terrain really well, forcing me to adapt MY plans in the middle of the fight. Last night I was playing and a fight was starting to go poorly for me- under a lot of pressure, I slipped to the side using my cloak (Infiltrator, natch), got to higher ground and was able to completely wipe the enemy from the field in about 5 seconds because I was able to get them in a crossfire and negate their advantage.
The enemy has done the same to me (much to my chagrin), and it makes each fight feel more... the best word I can give it is "real", although that's a poor term (I've been in actual, real combat, so I try not to compare videogames to it).
The story is visceral and haunting- i found myself misty-eyed (something I NEVER do at a videogame. Movies, sometimes, but a game? Never) at one point. At another point an event happened (no spoilers here!) and I had my hand over my mouth in a gesture of complete shock. And later I found myself laughing myself silly at another event that occured.
The game isn't perfect; no game is. But it tells a great story in a way that's fun. I've had very few frustrations with the controls (unlike previous ME games, which could infuriate me to no end), although I will say i don't like getting into and out of cover much- but that's really just me getting used to it.
In short, it's a masterpiece in pretty much any reasonable sense of the word. It doesn't have everything I would have wanted if I were designing it. But it's a great game and to answer your question, I'm sure some are disappointed.
I am not one of them.

I have no doubts Bioware works hard on every project, even dragon age 2. I play the game more for the story than anything else and I feel like the endings ruined the mass effect series for me. If my Shep can overcome death, she should be able to overcome the Reapers and ride off into the suset with her LI and the Normandy crew. They are her family and in no way should she have been separated unless she was dead...again.
Bioware set the invincibility expectation when she died and was resurrected in ME2. Now Shep has limitations and vulnerabilities and all of a sudden can't save everyone....it is hard to buy into. I wasn't expecting it to be easy but I expected to have the option. What is done is done but yeah I am pretty disappointed.

I've gotten about 4 hrs into the game and I've sadly felt ME3 to be disappointing overall so far. The slimmed down dialogue options, the insane amount of auto-dialogue I constantly have to listen to my Shep say (and not even want to be said much less), bad (Chinese kung-fu movie bad) lip-syncing, bad lighting graphics and horrid running/walking movement that has Femshep looking she's trying to walk/run through hip-deep mud have really given me a bad taste.
I love the ME series and I *want* to like ME3, to see it as a great end cap for the trilogy, but I"m finding that hard to do at this point...
Don't worry too much. I didn't liked the first hours too, but after the mission rescuing the Turian Primarch everything gets better.
After 4 hours I was thinking: hell, no... another DA2... But now, after 9 hours, I'm enjoying the hell out of it.

While I have no doubt that the development team worked hard, by definition if this represented Bioware's actual best effort there wouldn't be any DLC.

I have the game and can't even play it because of a 'release date check'....retarded.

The bugs I understad(though the dialogue dropping off is rather annoying, i can live with it until a patch) and it's a well made game. But it just doesn't feel like a RPG anymore, it feels like it was tried to be turned into a movie.
Though I do have to say the gameplay is really good and the tone/theme of the game is amazing, almost enough to make me forgive the autodialogue and lake of conversations were there really needs to be some.

The face import didn't even bug me. I recreated my original Shepard from scratch and fixed problems he had in ME1 and 2 (huge cheekbones) and made him look as though he had aged.

I mean what is someone to think when you modify a stock photo online for one of your most popular characters? Thone is one of your most asked questions and it seems so half assed. I can't believe the artists didn't have a huge amount of concept art for it. There's also very simple stuff like the journals not updating near as much as they should or even explaining certain mechanics as well as you should have. Most of the game is great but these oversights really tend to bring the game down.

I don't think it's meant to be a personal attack on the devs. I think the majority of people understand how huge an undertaking it is to make a game like this. But there seems to be a fundamental disconnect between what fans of the previous games want to see in a sequel and what the devs think is cool or an improvement. We saw the same thing happen with Dragon Age 2. I'm sure the devs worked extremely hard on it, and it was objectively a pretty good game - but it wasn't the game that (very many) fans of DAO wanted to play.
I'm sure we all know that you guys have done this as a labour of love, but we still have the right to be disappointed if it's not the game we wanted to play. I guess everyone has different ideas about what that game should be.
They dont, check the spoiler forums

far as dissapointment.
well i really liked mass effect 1 and i think that's the best one far as story and roleplay.
mass effect 2 and 3 seem to handle gameplay better , but seem to forget about a decent plot and or roleplay.
i prefer the first game.

Some might like the game more for what it is, some might realize that due to the auto dialog and inconsequence of many large decisions playing different Shepards is less interesting as in the previous games.
