Patching the game on Xbox 360 will cost Bioware $40,000. So don't expect that patch anytime soon, until they can get their money's worth by cramming a lot of other fixes in.
Where are you getting this $40,000 from?

An indie developer said thats how much it costs to distribute a patch on XBL for his titles I think while back.

I can somewhat get people that put hundreds of hours in the 2 first installments, 80 bucks, to have a certain amount of expectations. That's why I'll play with with 0 expectations when it'll be 19.99$. If it's like DA:2, probably in 2-3 months I *might* have a glance at it.

One is how "rushed" the whole thing feels. I understand the galaxy is at war and Shepard's gotta haul ass, but I have a feeling there wont be any moment to just take a break from the main theme. Like you know how in ME2 the main theme was basically "Collectors are abducting humans, you gotta stop them" well even with that there were these moments where you could just go a Club and chill, or help someone that had nothing to do with Reapers/Collectors. Even some missions, like pulling a hiest for Kasumi, I didnt feel like the Collectors are always on my case......From the short time I played ME3 it doesnt seem like you can do that. I dont think we'll be getting a break from the whole "Reapers are gonna kill us Dx" theme, no matter where we go. Its understandable, but still.
Second is the Normandy's new look. Dont get me wrong I actually think its a cool look and I love the new rooms, but for being the "spearhead" against the Reapers and Shepard's main vessel? From my PoV, and comparing it to the Cerberus themed SR2, its like the Alliance took a 5 star hotel and turned it into a dark, unfinished factory. I'm kinda depressed that I'll have to save the galaxy in it lol.
Third is the dialogue. The dialogue itself is ok but there are just really wierd changes they added, like the helmet option. You can choose if you want your helmet on/off/default when talking, which is fine, but even if you choose default Shepard takes his helmet off in situations where he doesnt even need to. When I met a certain character on Paleven's moon Shepard didnt need to take off his helmet for any reason, in fact he was in the middle of a warzone so he probably should have left it on, but I guess he did so anyways and somehow had time put it back on again in a matter of miliseconds. Another is you cant go back in conversation with a character about the same stuff more than once. So if you talk to Joker about whatever and you want to leave to continue the conversation later, basically all you'll get out of him the second time is " 'sup ". Unless he has something new to say. :/
Thats just my humble opinion though and other then those, I really love this game! I'll still enjoy it and have a blast, especially with the weapon customization!

Lets say it costs 1/3 for production of ME3 to be pushed out. They'd make their money back three times when two are sold. I'm sure $40,000 is nothing for them to push a patch after all the hype they put out their, for us to make sad faces at the import section. :[

I'm shelving ME3 while I play through the first 2 games to hopefully get some saves that will work and give them some time to patch out some of the bugs in ME3.

Only other thing I was dissapointed with, was the lack of / choice of squad members. They just felt distant / out of place. Didnt really "gel" like they did in ME1 / ME2. But I guess thats the cost of appealing to a larger audience, the part which cannot be bothered with the dialogue.

There is a lot of auto-dialogue... I don't mind it, necessarily, because the game's cinematic feel blows the other two away. But it was a bit of a shock to me. To be honest I think I prefer it this way, if we can't have both.
Not having Shepard's face is... augh. I mean I made a new one that's as close as I could get it but, the change is driving me nuts every conversation.
This Dianna Allers chick is... wow. I can't stand her face, voice acting, or body. I heard she's based of a real person, and I don't know anything about her and I mean no disrespect for her, but this digitized version of her is really bad in every respect.
I'm sure Bioware worked really hard on it but there are a lot of aspects that feel a little skimpy. I think its only though, that so many parts of the game are so well done that the flaws, even minor, are really standing out.
That said overall my impressions are positive. The game is more cinematic then the previous two combined, which I am absolutely loving. Even if I choose responses way less frequently- and Shepard seems to be a lot grumpier- he talks WAY more then he used to and feels a lot more like a fleshed out character. This is a HUGE improvement. I wish his face wasn't just a little different...
Also the guns, especially a lot of the DLC guns, are really amazing and very fun. The Chakram Launcher and the N7 Crusader (I think that's the name... the shotgun). are very fun to use.

I have Me1, and Me2 (DD)
and I paid for the collector's edition of me3...
So, yes I understand expectations.
Honestly, I was scared after reading all of this comments that I've wasted my money.
But the game has been great so far.
Maybe it's because I'm nore of a casual gamer, I don't know.
But I don't feel all of the complaints, auto dialog doesn't make me feel like it isn't my Shepard, because I still get to make the big desicions, or how to treat a character....
I don't know, I just haven't felt like it's a bad game, or like it's a shame to the series....
I feel it's a good installment...
Honestly, so far, it has surpassed my own expectations :/

For me, the game is the best out of the whole series. It's a great mix of the two previous games. The auto dialogue is annoying, and the fact that I can't import my shep's face is even more annoying. But the game is still absolutely incredible.

After 6 hours of game play, sadly I can say I'm a little depressed. I mean, it's an okay game still, but lacks the feeling the last two installments have. Not being to see my Shepards face again from ME1 in ME3 kinda took away the "emotional" attachment. (I don't even know who you are!!) Auto-Dialog. I think Ashley was right about Cerberus controlling Shepard, I barely have input in what he says! Even the neutral option is gone, when a selection of dialog actually pops up. Is it me or is Liara ugly now? Characters look different now. Can't tell of its for better or worse yet. Combat is fun, as a big player of all three Gears of War I see a slight resemblance but not how they say. Anyway, just my opinion.
Yes and no. I mean.....the game is choc full o epicness (14 hours in) so I can't really say I'm disappointed. The combat is unbelievable and once the game gets going, those great Bioware moments start popping up. I'm not loving only two dialogue options on the right side of the tree instead of 3 (We were getting some of that in ME2 but now it seems to be a hard fast rule). This limits how many personalites/characters you can create effectively and might impact replayability a LITTLE bit (Not something I'm going to shriek and have a fit over). Seems like there is a lot more "forced" dialogue, where Shep is talking without the player getting a dialogue tree.
I'm also not a huge fan of being forced to walk up to a friendly and initiate a conversation while pointing a gun in their face. As an RPG fan, little things like that which impact immersion (being able to holster the weapon when your character ABSOLUTELY WOULD in real life) are a bigger deal to me than adding "mulit player". But I'm not naive enough to believe that from a business standpoint, multi player isn't the much bigger money maker and that drawing in more fans from the shooter crowd mean big profits. So I'm not annoyed and understand where it's coming from but these things that are not to my taste PERSONALLY.
That said, the fun factor I'm having is as great, or greater, as any game I have ever played. It remains to be seen if it will have the replayability of it's predecessors.

It's a good thing the endings are hard to get, but I shouldn't have to spend more money just for that extra boost.
And no, I'm fine with MP being in the game. I'm just mad it affects the SP campaign in the ways that it does.
Other than that, only other problem I've had so far is bugs. One of which prevented me from completing an entire mission without a complete restart.

I'm sorry Jarret, but a good chunk of Mass Effect's fans are disappointed, myself included. I don't doubt the amount of effort the gameplay devs worked, but the writers failed immensely on the endings. I can't say any more without spoilers, but maybe the writers should at least give us some kind of... explanation to the ending. Because, right now, many of us don't have the closure that was promised to us.Jarrett Lee wrote...
One thing I'm seeing occassionally is the notion the game was rushed or the dev team didn't try as hard somehow. It's disheartening to see that because I can tell you the development team worked *incredibly* hard on the game, including a ton of personal sacrifice (hours worked, holidays skipped etc). This was a labor of love for the team and we're all very proud of what has been accomplished. There are bugs that got through (face import. we know) but they are being investigated for fixing etc.

Everyone but Shep moves like they have metal rods in their backs during missions and on the Normandy Shep seems to put one in as well. The stiff back issue is also present in faces that early in game look like plastic. Unlike the stiff movements though the face issue has gotten better later in the game.
That is something I do not understand. Why don't the faces look and move like they should from the start?
The only other thing I have found in the game that annoys me is the squadmates. Aside from a overload or two I have found no use for them nor do they seem to do any real fighting. I am playing as an adept on insanity and have yet to find a situation that required the aid of my squandmates.
In ME2 squadmates played a major factor and had huge impacts on game play but in ME3 they seem to have fallen back to their role as little more then eye candy from ME1.
