I'm sure by now, we've all discovered the horrible truth about the face importing!
I noticed that when attempting the import, there's a code at the bottom of the screen with lots of numbers and letters.
Is there any quick and easy way to extract this code from an ME2 savegame so I can attempt to manually replicate it?
That is, if that's even possible!
I'm not certain if i can type in the code or watch the number update as I tweak the facial features with the sliders.
I've been searching the internet for an hour or more now and all I can find are complicated descriptions about Gibbed I don't really understand and can't follow.
Surely, there must be an easier way to find this number?
I assume the savegame has recorded it somewhere, somehow.
I would be very grateful if anyone knows how or where to find it.
I don't want to play Mass Effect without the Shepherd I've been seeing the last 2 games, so until i find a way to resolve this, I won't be playing!
Is there a simple way of finding the ME2 face code?

Start ME2 with the character you want to import. Open your Menu, go to Squad. The Identity Code at the top left of the screen (above your Shep's name) is the face code. You MUST include the periods every three characters when you input the code in ME3.

Yes, yes that great exept it doesn't work with imported characters.

I tried that as my second alternative.
The code everyone refers to was not there.
I did eventually find a tool to extract the code, but I think it didn't work.
Or it didn't work as intended, because something went horribly wrong.
The last 6-9 numbers completely destroy the appearance of the character, changing the hair color, removing the hair completely and turning the eyebrows albino.
I did that by entering the number manually.
I guess my only practical recourse is to wait for the official patch fix!

Finding the face code is easy if you still have ME2 installed. Load your ME2 game and load any save game. Go to "squad" in the menu. Above the picture of your Shepherd is a code...that is the face code.
Here's the real problem, as I discovered last night: the code is importing into ME3 verbatim - when I compared the code in ME2 they were identical. So it seems that the values of some of the codes are different in ME3 thus giving the different appearance. It's not an import error...it's a change. So, for example, the hair color code in ME2 for my character was a reddish gold; in ME3 that same code was dark blonde, etc.
What I ended up doing was screenshotting that squad picture, printing it out, and then sitting there in ME3's face editor trying to use the new options to get close to what I had before. It won't be perfect, I found that the old hair styles, hair colors, etc. don't exist in the new game, but at least closer than the default.
