I can’t say I know for certain why, buy please put
play/pause in the console versions of your wonderful game. I have played for
about 20 hours now, and thoroughly loving the story, and the history. What is
troubling me is that all your hard work in making the game look as good as it
does is being lost in the fights.

My mage can barely target let alone control my group when
more than 3 bad guys come a running. The tactics portion of the game is
seriously lacking. Putting in the option to automate action was a great idea,
but now all of a sudden I am again on the outside looking in. I barely get time
to put out 3 or 4 spells before the fight is over. I would like to use some
tactics that I have read about PC users have done, spell combos and like.

An example is fighting the reverent in the mage tower. I was
excited to face something more difficult but soon got really mad when my rogue
just stood there….. doing nothing…. at all. I switched over to her to get some
DPS going and low and behold my mage started casting like mad at the thing,
taking aggro from my tank, mage is made of paper and is dead in 2 seconds,
while my healer wastes several heals on him. Tank finally gets control again,
but the rogue is no longer back stabbing, but facing him….. what the heck is
happening here?! Long story short we wipe completely with him barely half
health. Laughable considering my love of strategy  games like NWN, KOTOR, and Jade Empire.

Please put play/pause in the game, make my Origins experience
much better, from hey this is pretty good, to Holy crap I love this game like
KOTOR did to me.

You can pause the game.

In fact, it is the most important thing for you to do in order to play successfully.

maybe I'm missing that, because the only pause I have seen is the radial dial for abilities and the pause button which brings up options/save/load and the like, and fills the screen. I'm talking Pause combat, switch between toons to see whos fighting what, how.

Am I missing it because the instruction book doesnt mention it, and I cant seem to find it under options.

On a console?  Then can you tell him how to do it?

I believe, and I'm entirely not sure since I have the PC version, that you pause the game by opening up the radial menu.

I had the console version when i first started playing. Traded it in for the PC version.

I don't remember exactly where, but somewhere under options you can set it so that when you turn on the radial menu, it can be set so you don't have to keep holding down the trigger to keep it open. The game being paused now, you can switch between characters and give them orders, and click the radial back off. Holding the trigger down was crazy trying to give orders, and this was a mind-saver for me.

Of course, the biggest mind saver was trading it in for the PC version, but that's a different issue...

The middle of the radial menu is also a targeting reticule, a faster way to direct a specific action against a target while giving orders.

On the XBOX360 if you go from the MAIN OPTIONS and choose the RADIAL to open when the LEFT HELD, then you CAN switch between characters using the LEFT and RIGHT SHOULDER, while doing this, issue orders individually to your party members using the LEFT STICK and the GREEN BUTTON which will be executed collectively once you release the LEFT RADIAL.

Wow, ok, i wrote an amusing and informative post and then the website did ... THAT to it. I'm not even gonna edit it, just leave it that way so whatever sub-human organism designed the formatting system can learn from it's mistakes. Seriously that's bad, no wonder people don't bother using paragraphs, spacing or grammar when the "submit" button just takes what you wrote, chews it up and then gobs it out in a phlegmy mess that resembles your post only in a way that roadkill resembles the animal it once was BEFORE the bus ran over it. Sort your forums bioware, you suck hardcore.
