Heres what worked for me:

Restarting mission...
Watched full Illusiv Man / Mirandas father speech...
Looked back after their talk...
Left a few enemies alive (didn't wanna waste time if it didn't work)...
Ran through the door - and voila... For some unknown reason I was allowed to proceed...

Btw - I watched the whole vid to start with seeing as its an automated event that Shepard looks back...

Dunno why it works, but it does now...
Atleast restarting the mission doesn't take a heck of a long time seeing as it wasn't to far into the map, still annoying though...

Seems to be magically fixed for me. I checked for an update this afternoon and it grabbed a 900kb odd file. Tried just now and worked fine. Dunno if someone higher up pushed a fix to me, but thanks if you did :)

I just had this issue tonight in the same spot. I sent my save to a friend and he did not encounter the issue using my save. After that room he saved and sent it back. I have been able to play no problem since.

I had updated my game and changed all my video settings- but every time I entered that room I crashed.

I had the latest ATI driver, but i was out by a revision, I upgraded my driver and then at the EA tech support person's recommendation, i re-ran the game by running as administrator. that got me past the door

I have another maybe fix (I tried all the suggestions above and resorted to figuring it out myself). What I did was go right up to the doorway where it crashes, quick save, then edge forward into the room and quick save frequently. When I crashed I reloaded the quick save and I was pleasantly surprised to see it worked first time! It might take several tries for other people (if it works at all). It might sound like a bit of a noobish way of doing it (well it does to me) but it worked so... Hopefully someone finds this helpful!

After attempting to update my game (which did grab a small update but didn't fix the problem), I tried this.  I just went up near the door, then held down CTRL and walked forward while repeatedly tapping the QuickSave key as fast as I could.  It still crashed, but after restarting my game and loading from the QuickSave, I was on the other side of the doorway and moved on.

Just had this issue a while ago... Steps that I did:

- Updated the game (right-click -> check for updates)
- Saved before the comms terminal before going up the ladder to the second floor
- Ensured I finished the entire cutscene on the comms terminal, including the part being asked to "look back" and see Miranda attacked by Leng
- Stayed at the monitor a few seconds more before going up the ladder
- During the fight on the second floor, I ensured I was very close to the door, and passed the point where it crashes, before killing all the enemies.

I'm not sure exactly which step actually made it stop crashing, but hope this helps!

My previous checkpoint save was pretty much straight before the door and even if I load it from there it still crashes :S

You're a hero!
Was trying to fix this crash for days now, came to the forums, read your post, tried it and I'm past the door! :wizard:

To me it this problem seemed like the Illium CTD issue from ME2. I would always crash walking through the hall going under Liara's office on Illium. The only way to stop it was to turn off shadows.

Turning off shadows worked for me getting past this area with out a CTD.

This works. I tried all sorts of graphic settings changes and nothing worked but this.

I've solved the problem by sending my company inside the room before me :)

This solution appears to have worked for me, akthough not the way Willasrulz10 said it worked for him, so It may be that I just lucked out and it didn't crash this time.

When I tried his suggestion I crept slowly through the door, tapping the quicksave key repeatedly, and it did not crash this time.

I did get one crash when I entered in one lab room, I think it's related to character gaining xp (since that happens after you go through the doorway). I reloaded my save and it didn't crash. I'm not entirely sure if this is the same spot what OP means but I haven't had any crashes elsewhere in that map.

Had same issue.  Fixed like some of the others by setting anti-aliasing and shadows off in the graphics settings.  I also turned them back on after passing that area.  No more problems encountered after that.
This was after reinstalling and playing in Windows mode.  Neither fixed the problem.

Not sure if its a ATI/Radeon issue.  My graphics card is a Radeon HD 5800 with the latest driver,
AMD Catalyst 12.3

Just FYI: I ran into the same problem just now. I have the game updated; I set my team in before me; I have an NVIDIA, not ATI card; I've tried sprinting into the room a few times... Sounds like the "fixes" are pretty random and just require luck.

I'm a bit disappointed that BW hasn't fixed this in the month since it was reported.

I have encountered this problem again right now and cannot proceed in the game as none of the suggestions above have worked. In the past sprinting has worked for me but after 10 or more attempts not this time!!!!!!! Bioware please fix this!!!!!!!!!

Ditto--still bugged. Changing my graphics/sprinting in/sending my team in first did not help.
Going to restart the whole mission and hope it works.
BIOWARE what is the status of the fix since it was noted earlier that a dev has enough info/saved games to reproduce the problem?

quick up date--went back to a Normandy save before the mission start, replayed it.
DID NOT turn off graphic settings. The only change I made in my game play was to dash down to the door, but did not kill all the enemies. I let a couple live and no crash when I entered the room. I killed the last 2 from inside the room. I could go in and out of the room without a problem after and carried on with the mission.

Hello again Bio--any update on the fix!

none of these options worked for me.

I had laira and Eva in my party. Once neither were in the party I could proceed.

I'm guessing it has to do with one of them saying some lines about 'look a way to proceed' but the game not finding those line and crashing.

With Garrus and Ash I had no issue.
