I guess this sort of a mix between a loosely structured fan review and a fanfic - I thought of it yesterday as just a fun (and tongue-in-cheek) way to collect my thoughts as I progress through the game. Not sure if I'll end up keeping it up the whole way through.

Character - Catherine Shepard. Earthborn, War Hero, Vanguard turned Adept, Paragon.
Important plot points -
Freed the rachni
Kaidan lost on Virmire
Wrex killed by Ashley against Shepard's wishes
Council killed, but purely a military/strategic decision ("concentrate on Sovereign"), is very alien-friendly
Genophage cure saved
Heretics rewritten
Collector Base destroyed
Garrus, Samara, and Kasumi killed on suicide mission

- So I've been hearing some chatter in the hallways about how Hackett and Anderson are walking around in full helmeted armor even when everybody else is in their regular uniforms. That's kind of weird....

- Vega's here to escort me somewhere. Probably some school field trip where the kids all get to look at the crazy Reaper conspiracy theorist who got herself relieved of duty.

- Wait - Anderson's here? On Earth? Doesn't he have any work to do at the Citadel?

- : checks Codex : Okay, seriously? You resigned from the Council and let them appoint that loudmouth jerk Udina in your place? Sure glad I argued so intently on getting you appointed instead of him!

- OK, so to make a short story...well...short, a huge attack is under way, it looks like the Reapers, and some higher-up finally decided to let me out of my Crazy Person Box as a result. Got it.

- And the gang's all here - here comes Ashley Williams.

- Lieutenant Commander? Guess nobody read my report about her shooting Wrex in the back on Virmire. (Though, if some ****** like Mikhailovich was involved, maybe they promoted her *because* of that.)

- Ashley apologizes for not keeping me in the loop. I tell her, "It's OK, it's not like you learned the Reapers were coming and didn't tell me." Or, say, resigned from the Council and didn't tell me. : glares at Anderson :

- In to see the defense committee. Hope this goes better than all the other times I've tried to convince a three-person panel to do something about the Reapers.

- Turns out I don't need to do much convincing - the huge Reaper trying to blow up this building kind of made the point for me. (Hey, I'm trying to look at the bright side here.)

- OK, Anderson, what's with all the wise-ass comments about my shooting ability? I took out those husks, didn't I?

- Clearly Big Freaking Explosions are the theme of the day. Oh well, better that than Harbinger and his constant ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL. (I suppose it's too much to hope that I won't have to deal with that eventually too.)

- You want *me* to go convince the Council? Shouldn't you be doing that? Oh, that's right - you quit. Still, the rest of them wouldn't even talk to me about the Collectors....

- Made it to the Normandy past a bunch of big ugly something-or-others shooting at us. Anderson still wants me to go to the Citadel.

- I'm not sure how I'll be able to get any help in time, though - unless Vancouver and London are the only cities under attack, it looks like Earth is going to be toast within the next 12 hours or so.

- Then again, maybe the Reaper attack won't progress much while I'm gone. Kind of like how Feros got attacked by the Geth but then nothing else happened until I got there. Or how Elias Kelham contracted Kolyat Krios for an assassination and he just happened to attempt it right after we interrogated him. Funny how things seem to work out that way...

- OK, metaphysical speculation over. Off to the Citadel! I mean, Mars! Or wherever the hell the Alliance decides to send me in the next ten seconds!

- Where'd those gunshots come from?...Oh, great - Cerberus is here. I thought I'd finally gotten away from those ****s.

- No, Ashley, I'm not associated with Cerberus any more. You might have guessed that from the fact that they just tried to kill me.

- I mean, Vega gets that I cut ties with them after I blew up the Collector Base, and he barely knows me.

- LIARA! Wait, though - is this innocent, kind-hearted Liara or dark, haunted, ruthless Liara?

- :: Liara executes two wounded Cerberus operatives :: The latter, evidently.

- So...who's running the big creepy space station in the Hagalaz system if Liara's here? And how did Hackett know she was the Shadow Broker? Guess we have some catching up to do....

- Ashley. Shut up about Cerberus already. Sheesh.

- Checking out these data pads - sounds like they were suspicious of this Dr. Eva. Wait, though, did one of the workers here really call another one a "stupidhead"? What is this, the Alliance Pee-Wee League Science Camp?

- We finally make it to the database and...oh joy, it's my least favorite xenophobic paramilitary wannabe fascist dictator and covert organization leader!

- You really think you can "dominate the Reapers"? Are you completely insane? (And why am I even asking that?)

- They're going out of their way to obscure whoever that is with the Illusive Man, which makes me think that either (a) it's Miranda or Jacob, or (

it's someone we think is on our side who will later be revealed as a traitor. Unless it's---

- Oh...wait. I'm on Mars and I can't actually see that. Um, never mind.

- No, Liara, I didn't just have another Prothean vision.

- And NO, ASHLEY, I WAS NOT JUST RECEIVING SECRET MESSAGES FROM CERBERUS.

- Seriously, both of you stop looking at me like that.
