I can confirm that patch 1.02 doesn't fix this. I managed to get to the Docks: Loading Area for the first time tonight, did a bunch of side quest stuff, finished Hanar Diplomat...now I'm trying the Paragon track for Aria: Eclipse and have to go back there an hour later, boom, black screen, freeze.

SOMEONE PLEASE FIX THIS.

only 3 freezes in the citadel elevator so far but nothing major and it rarely happens to me

I can't even access the Docks from the Normandy now...it doesn't show the holding area as available. I tried reloading a previous save...nothing. For whatever reason, I just can't access the area. Which is REALLY frustrating as the Hanar Diplomat and a few other quests go right through there. It worked first day I played it...now crashes EVERYTIME I try to go there. Let's hope this is cleared up soon...

I've tried it about 10 times now, and each time it freezes. What a shame. I can't finish those quests. Guess we're stuck waiting for another patch. Maybe I'll just have to play something else until then.

An additional note: was unable to go there directly after docking on the Citadel by arranging ground transport. Option was not available, but all the other areas (Presidium, Embassies, etc.) were listed.

Happen to me as well, I tried a solution that I saw in another thread and it works for me everytime.

"Press PS button to go to XMB when the loading screen appear, leave it there until it finish loading and show a black screen, press PS button again to go back into the game, and the level should be loaded"

You can only access Docks: Holding Area directly from Normandy after some quest is done in that area.

I had the same problem as mentioned earlier. I also hadn't unlocked the Holding Area yet so no access from Normandy. BUT I worked around it. Tell the docking officer you want to go to the hospital. You're then in the elevator, immediately select Holding Area and there you are. At least that worked for me. After that the area is also available from the Normandy.

Yup. Black screen every single time ... I have to get out of bed and do a hard reset ... Very annoying to say the least ...

EDIT: "PS button work around" crashes the system for me...

Phew, I thought it was just my game having problems. I had to get down from the Embassy area to the holding bay, I had to restart three times then after trying to go there from the docking bay instead, I gave up. Thing is, the first few times I went there I didn't have a problem until I started the Hanar/Kasumi mission.

Looks like I'll be going through the Normandy root, hopefully we'll get another patch.

It is a major issue and bioware has not mentioned awareness of this issue. I hope they know but havent said anything at least

This definitely need to be fix, there's quite a number of missions that requires you to go to Dock:Holding Area.

Just got the patch 1.02 last night, haven't check if that fix the Dock:Holding Area problem though, will try it out tonight

When I first encountered this problem I thought it was one of those one-time bad luck things, I didn't realize it would happen the next 5 times in a row when I try to reach that very same docking area.. totally took me out of the experience, I don't feel like picking this game up again until Bioware patches it up, especially after hearing about all of the other problems people are having..

Bioware, if you're reading these, PLEASE give us some type of feedback and what you intend to do with these problems, if anything!!! I want to be able to enjoy the game without worrying about whether or not it will suddenly become totally unplayable (which it already is apparently for some people)

same to me...I rarely can go to the holding area...Most of the time 90% it goes black and I have to reset the PS3 :S...and I need to go there to solve some missions. today it happened 4 times..I gave up and continued to play other missions , but it is frustating

You can only be taken directly to the Holding Area from the Normandy if you've already been there once.

If you've never been there before and can't, try going back to the Normandy, then choosing an area that starts you in an elevator (Purgatory seems to work best). From there, immediately choose to go down to the Holding area. Worked for me.

Then everytime after you need to go back there, you can ask to be taken there immediately from the Normady, and that has always worked for me.

The only problem is that leaving the Citadelle seems to bug the Hanari Diplomate side quest, as leaving the Citadelle after you start the side quest but before you end it bugs the quest.

I have played the game 2 times already and no problem! Now, on my 3rd time, I got all kinds of crashes and this one in specific is really annoying! My question to Bioware is: why it is only happening now and why we still don't have a fix for it?!

in all honesty your 1 of the more lucky ones. On my new ps3 i had 5 hard resets on the citadel and of course the poor frame rate issues, but to have issues on your third play through u sir got it made. I had to go into the ps3 safe mode and correct hdd corruptions and defrag my ps3 after those hard resets to run the game as good as i did. Others were not as lucky as i know my friend had invisible characters and the odd animations.

The PS button seems to be working for me, but I really hope they fix this.

This happened to me too. The first time was after I played for three hours straight without saving. That was totally my bad though; save often kids!
As long as I go to the refugee area straight from the Normandy, I never have any problems. Although, the Citadel is always kinda laggy for me.
