I find the trick to avoid romancing Tali every game is just to play as FemShep sometimes. You then end up romancing either Tali or Garrus every game.Stygian1 wrote...

I romanced Liara in 1 but I didn't really like her character change and how she developed in 2-3. So I went with Tali, because I really liked her character in 1 but was confused as to why I couldn't romance her.

If I romanced Garrus--I always choose Garrus. He's my best bro and it's impossible to break up with him. Although I felt REALLY guilty when I turned Kaidan down. In my first Garrusmance, I went on Garrus' date first so I never got the "I know why you cheated but I still love and want you back" talk with Kaidan. He just accepted that I had moved on and we were like brother and sister.
In my second Garrusmance, I went on Kaidan's date first and got that dreadful conversation. Really tough. Won't be doing that again.
I find I have to do loyal playthroughs to continue my first romance. I guess you can technically do a Thane romance and not have it affect your ME1 romance (much), but that just seems way too depressing.
I'm actually looking forward to seeing how it plays out when you go from either Kaidan to Garrus, or Garrus to Kaidan. Wish there was some little jealosy-banter... but that's just my inner fangirl who likes such things, lol
I think they're both a little to mature to engage in such snarky behavior (such as the catfight between Ashley and Tali), but I would have appreciated some kind of acknolwedgement--even if it was just like...I don't know...finding Garrus and Kaidan on the ship somewhere and one telling the other congrats and take care of her or whatever. It certainly didn't seem like much of a love triangle.

Speaking as someone who has played ME3 twice, once with Miranda as my LI and once with Liara, I actually vastly preferred how Miranda's was handled in spite of the minimal screen time she has.Seracen wrote...
Still, strict ME2 romances got screwed (I mean characters that weren't in ME1). To be fair, anyone who didn't romance Liara kinda got screwed, with VS a close second to Liara.

Kicked Liara aside for Jack without a minute's hesitation.
And I'll happily kick Ashley aside for Miranda if I ever import that Shep into ME3.
Even though Jack and Miranda got bent over a barrel in ME3, I MUCH prefer them and their weak romances because of how amazing they were in ME2.

Liara's is written so bad it's ridiculous. She'll tell you you haven't been together in years even if you got back together 6 months ago in LotSB, she'll repeatedly call you "just friends" and it's like the entire romance exists in a bubble. I thought it was pretty much the worse romance in a single game in the series.

I agree. The conversations with Liara have been horribly overdone since ME2 and the fact that no matter if you break up with her or never initialize the romance, it still feels like there is something going on between her and Shep is just plain annoying.tvman099 wrote...
