I think it is very similar to ME2. That was a challenge and so is this. I'm just trying to decide what class I think will benefit me the most long term on Insanity...

I beat it ME2 with an Adept but I'm really curious to know how well Engineer Clones and Turrets hold up in ME3 on this difficulty..

i guess i beat ME2 on insanity so many times that i just dont find it as challenging as ME3. maybe cuz i rolled a fresh Sentinel, maybe because im getting used to things still. but i find i actually have to strategize a lot more.

Actually, I think that ME3 Insanity is significantly easier than ME2's version. Maybe it's because I imported from ME2, so I started at level 30, but the game was really easy. AI is better, but enemies are not nearly as tough or precise, it seems.

Just for the record, I was playing Infiltrator class. I rolled with Mantis V and I thought the game was easy. Then I got Black Widow and...well, God mode.

I'm trying a NG+ run tonight to see if it is harder. I didn't expect vanilla Insanity to be too hard it wasn't in ME2 either. On my regular run I only remember dieing four times. Twice right before you get to the Primarch's sun and the other two defending the last batch of missiles in London. The first part of London was probably the hardest though. I had to take that very slow.

NG+ is even easier so far :D

Nowhere near ME2's NG+ Insanity.

i disagree about ME2's difficulty, but probably because i didnt import yet. starting fresh is kinda tough. and yeah, playing an infiltrator in ME2/3 is like playing a sneaky in Skyrim; broken =S

we'll see how my important vanguard does

No Way. If you really want a challenge. I suggest doing "Clean Playthrough" of ME1 & ME2

starting straight on Lvl 0

Insanity on a "Clean Run"- that's the REAL challenge. I did Engineer class on ME1. It's much better in the long run.

The whole point of Insanity is not what level you're at but how "strategic" you are.

yea ive done about 5 clean insanity runs in ME2 (and 5 more with full squad/Shep skills), and i facerolled through most of them on my Vanguard and Adept. still was fun, but also easy.

maybe im just having a tough time with the Sentinel and new game mechanics.

I find it easier. Not all of the enemies have protection unlike ME2 and the Vanguard is a beast in ME3. The charge/nova combo is great, and I'm able to charge constantly.

With an Adept nothing can stop you.

The main chunk of the missions seems to be pretty easy on Insanity. But the fights at the end of each mission can get pretty difficult. I would say the end fights are harder than ME2, but everything up to that point is easier.

I'm finding it quite doable. IF you start with your ME1+ME2 Characters.

..start on level 31/32. :) And lots of powers.

I am soldier with Incindiary + Disrupter Ammo with squad bonus. This way you don't have to waste any points on amm upgrades for your companions. They get your ammo powers. And that time you need to take out shields on turrets or heavy mech, just use a character with Overload + Disrupter Ammo for a few and switch back to Fire ammo. :)

If too hard, just enjoy the story and play through another story line/romance choice on Insanity and get the achievement that way with your full powers since you'll be able to then start with high level Sheppard.

I hope that helps.

Agree on the not as tough part. As a vanguard, you go from ME2 having to headshot something, to in ME3 not having to shoot things at all.

There are definitely some challenging fights though. And of course I died a ton as a vanguard not knowing the levels and charging around like a madman.

It makes no sense to not import your ME2 character. It is Shepard's story after all. The game should have been balanced around that.

I started a new Shep for my 1st ME3 run (starting on Insanity) and I disagree that Insanity has gotten easier at all. I'm not exactly dying a lot or getting stuck anywhere, but at most, I'd say things are different, not easier.

The only thing ME2 Insanity has over ME3 is that enemies are a little tougher and that universal protections make CC harder. But enemies are slow and don't really have any decent way to drive you out of cover.

ME3 baddies are generall pretty easy to CC because protections are uncommon.* Shep & co also move faster and better. OTOH, there are more enemies types now, and quite a few of them can kill in 1-2 hits. Regular enemies also grenade spam, which is a PITA. Enemies are generally faster, smarter and is better at flanking and working in teams.

After playing through the demo last week, I went back to finish off a few ME2 PTs... Granted, most of us here have played ME2 Insanity enough times to have basically memorized the levels, but damn, ME2 was sooo much easier. Despite having to 'go slow' with protections, it was like playing with a permanent ARush on... Having now gotten a fair way into ME3's campaign, I'm not sure I could go back.

I'm not trying to say that ME3 Insanity is an impossible gauntlet (b/c really, it's just not), but I just can't say that it's 'less challenging' than Me2 Insanity. Granted, importing/NG+ might be totally skewed in the new game.. but I'll probably have to try it see what some you are saying.**

*I'm playing Soldier right now, so for a long time I've been w/o a really good powers set. I just got Squad Cryo, and I did notice a drop in difficulty when using it... Player class might have something to do with difficulty.

**Strangely, I never felt ME2's NG+ Insanity to be 'that' hard - just a bit more of a grind early on. Maybe ME3 Import/NG+ doesn't scale as well because players get a full power set very early on.

To me, the only thing that made Insanity in ME 2 a bit more difficult was enemy accuracy and durability. In ME 3, enemies go down a lot faster but they are also much more aggressive. The difficulty comes not from having to unload an entire clip while under accurate and deadly enemy fire, but from having to protect your flank and making sure you prioritze targets.

I find ME 3's insanity to be more enjoyable personally. But I am finding it a bit easier if I really pay attention.

I'm actually finding it to be very doable. The way weapons work (no longer only effective against certain types of defenses), the way powers work (Things like overload and warp aren't limited to one protection type), and the fact that you can get up to level 60, among the other changes like the fact that not every unit has secondary defenses, then there's dodging, grenades and melee... makes the game a lot easier. If I wasn't playing on Insanity I would be a little disappointed.
