"In general, we want our users to play the game and then write a review
that will hopefully help give guidance to the rest of the community as
to whether the game is of high quality and is worth playing. If a user’s
review is devoid of criticism and is simply disruptive, offensive
material, we’ll remove it."
Interesting . . . .

If they are going to remove all the 0's, they should remove all the 10's. No game deserves 0 or 10.
No game deserves numbers.

I doubt it it just says " devoid of criticism and is simply disruptive, offensive material" will be removed. So basicly they will keep the 10s and get rid of the low scores.
Though the PC score is sitting nicley at 2.7 so I think they backed off of taking all the bad ones down.

There are legitimate 0 and 10 games, but they should be very rare.
ET for the atari 2600 was a 0. I could see on of the Gran Turismos getting a 10. The games are out there. Mass Effect is neither of these, I personally give it a 9 so far, but it could dip to 8 or 7 with worse bugs or a bad ending.

Reviews that attack homosexuals (ME3 relationships) are just wrong.

Hey you for Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64 both deserving of a 10!

They should, the review bombing has to stop.
It never will until Metacritic figures out that it's the height of idiocy to let every mouthbreather on the Internet write a review and rate a game without any attribution.

It's better then letting the critics do it, I can at least sort threw the user reveiws to find a good one, the critic reveiws are all making it out to be damn near perfect.

Great so they take the right of free speech away because EA complained?
There is a difference between "complainig" and "crafting an argument based on your epxerience that's backed up with sound examples". Complaining is not useful (in terms of a review). What's useful to a gamer who is trying to decide to buy a game is when a reviewer lays out their opinions as sound arguments and provides context and examples.

This person says the truth. All the people playing/about to play the game are blind out of excitement. We will have to see your reaction after you finish the game.

Okay, how is spreading disruptive and offensive material going to improve anything or provide a fair review?

They should do this. That type of "review" is not useful at all.

I'm not sure I'm quite seeing what your point is. Are you unhappy that you can't find an opinion that agrees with yours among professional critics? You seem to be saying that a "good one" would be one that doesn't rate the game highly.
Which implies you already have an opinion and don't really care about reviews- which is fine. But it has no bearing on whether or not metacritic's reviews are useful. They're totally garbage because there is no barrier to anyone putting up a review or scoring a game- you don't have to have played it, or even have a copy.
When the dribblings of some troll with a chip on their shoulder and no copy of the game are given the same weight as a games industry professional, it's clear that whatever number they come up with is categorically useless.
