A 10/10 is a pure fanboy bul**** review and that too cannot be considered as accurate.

This person says the truth. All the people playing/about to play the game are blind out of excitement. We will have to see your reaction after you finish the game.

And reviewing a game you haven't played is just as bad. All reviews currently on Metacritic are therefore irrelevant.

It's better then letting the critics do it, I can at least sort threw the user reveiws to find a good one, the critic reveiws are all making it out to be damn near perfect.

I'm not sure I'm quite seeing what your point is. Are you unhappy that you can't find an opinion that agrees with yours among professional critics? You seem to be saying that a "good one" would be one that doesn't rate the game highly.

Which implies you already have an opinion and don't really care about reviews- which is fine. But it has no bearing on whether or not metacritic's reviews are useful. They're totally garbage because there is no barrier to anyone putting up a review or scoring a game- you don't have to have played it, or even have a copy.

When the dribblings of some troll with a chip on their shoulder and no copy of the game are given the same weight as a games industry professional, it's clear that whatever number they come up with is categorically useless.

No I'm just looking at something balanced, I have yet to find a review that states how much auto dialogue there is, the lack of conversations in comparison with the last 2 games, and how you options in almost everything have been slimmed down.

I'm fine with people thinking this game is great, I'm not ok with "professionals" leaving out information so they can give it a higher score and thus make sure they keep getting reveiw copies so they can get reviews out early.

There's a difference between hate speech and free speech. Racism and the like is hate speech. People are free to express their opinions but posting something that's simply offensive to a certain race, lifestyle or religion is pure hate speech regardless of how you try to tart it up.

They did the same after DA2 not that it made much difference. This will go around the game news sites and it will just be seen as more publisher pressure trying to cover up for a poor game. Even if that's not the case.

Actualy it's all free speech. It could be something you don't agree with or just plain out wrong but it is still protected by the first amendment.

They should have just deleted every review that was submitted prior to 36 hours after the release of the game (IE all of them) instead of cherry picking the reviews that get removed. Then implement a new policy that game user reviews cannot be submitted until 36 hours has passed since release. Although I agree that the troll posts are a problem, this method is biased.

Thank God I don't live in America then. America's laws do not equal the law for all countries. Here in the UK, hate speech is against the law.

I don't care for the overall scores but I like looking at some individual reviews. It helps be know what to expect from the game and if it is worth buying.

That wouldn't be a review about the game as a whole. That'd be a rant about one particular moment or thing.

Not to mention that it's completely possible to write a review without going "THIS GAME SUCKS!" all the time. A proper review should address both the positive and negative things and possibly reflect the writer's opinion on those things when he/she gets to them, and not be a solid wall of text, rabbling about how the DLC is "stealing" people's money.

Obviously metacritic cares about metacritic. They need their user feedback section to seem legit. If this sort of thing continues nobody at all will take that section seriously, and it will hurt their site.

Free speech has no place on a privately owned website. If Metacritic wants to protect their site and get back to what Metacritic is really for, a place to read objective reviews of the actual purchasers and fans of the game and prosepective buyers of said game, then it is well within their "rights" to remove such content from their websites. Freedom of speech is still very well alive. If any of these reviwers wish they may create their own site (masseffect3sucks.com or what have you) and post their hate and nonsense all they want.

Now don't get me wrong I am not a fan of hate mongering/hate groups/crazies. But I think silincing them is just as bad as what they want, to live in a truley free society you need to be able to say whatever you want to without the goverment coming down on you for it.

Honestly the fact that a governing body can decide what is hate spech and what isn't scares the hell out of me.

No, I'd imagine they took away 'free speech' because they're a review site and prefer people leave actual reviews rather than bellyaching.

I mean, seriously, one of the '0' reviews I read seemed to be largely about homosexual relationships... I mean, seriously, if they want to bang on about this, why do they have to do it on a damn review forum? Can't they find one of those Westboro Baptist websites and do their yakking on there?

Metacritic is the game industry 'standard' right now. As long as that is the case (and fans/critics realize that) it will be the focus for user love/anger.

Its just the way it is.

With all the 5/5 herp derp! paid reviews out there, EA has no right to complain.

Truely free societies will never exist because life isn't free. You can't just do or say wherever you want wherever you go. If you left your room for once you'd probably notice that life is not like that. What you say there is a nice idea in a world of ideas. But we live in the real world. Well, most of us anyway.

Considering all the bad press this is going to bring it should be intresting how they deal with the second game in a row having the same thing happen to it.

Well, I'm not sure I believe anyone intentionally left out something to protect their review copy stream. That assumes a level of malicious intent that I simply don't think is realistic. People blather on about how reviews are fixed and paid for, and there may be some meat on those bones in some cases. By and large, though- I tend to assume there aren't any "bad actors", because otherwise I'd have to believe everyone was on the take. It simply doesn't work that way.

Anyway, I don't think that just because your pet issue isn'tcovered in reviews well gives any weight to Metacritic's reviews. The dialog options being streamlined is a very positive thing in my opinion; it used to be just a way for you to be naughty or nice, stacking up paragon or renegade points. Now dialog choices have heft to them; there may not be as many but they mean more.

If you can find value in some of the written reviews at MC, more power to you. I still think they're worse than useless because people pay attention to the numbers they generate, but the numbers are bad. Created by a bad process, poisoned by bad data, and manipulated by bad people.
