I had this issue too, but I managed to solve the problem. Need to say, it was all firewall settings problem.

Little specs here: Win 7 Pro - 64bit; ME3 - Normal Edition incl. DLC From Ashes; firewall - Outpost pro 7.5.2.

When running ME3 and Origin I noticed that these processes asked for some kind of permissions:

eacoreserver.exe
masseffect3.exe
origin.exe

(noticed originservice.exe and some activation process pop up, but right now I dont have any rules set up for these two).

All was about allowing several TCP and UDP connections through various ports and some control of acitve window, dll's etc., but I think this depends of what kind of firewall you are using. You just need to turn firewall into wizard rules mode (or similar for different firewall) and create the rules as the confirmation windows pop up. Before this I searched for solution in Origin FAQ and have found an article about this mentioning the ports but not the direction (inbound or outbound). So I left the work for my firewall in learning mode. It works great now.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Sorry for my english, 'cause I´m just mid-european guy. ;)

For the port thing, opening the following ports helped make ME3 run... for a while.
TCP:
80
443
9960-9969
1024-1124
18000
18021
18060
20910
27900
29900

and UDP ports:
1024-1124
1800
29900

This occurred with me when I was making a purchase and although I was charged I never received the Bioware points.

Okay, I too am having this problem.
I had it with the demo and figured, hey, with the actual game, it might just work.
But every time I load it up "Origin (EA) is no longer running. Mass Effect 3 will now close."

I've changed my firewall settings.
I've made sure Origin In-Game is running/isn't running/ various combinations.
I've tried the Origin /register thing in the command promt.
I've taken off UAC, just incase that was screwing it up.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled/repaired/updated Origin and my games several times.
I've restarted my PC several times also.

No luck, at all.
Please does anyone have any suggestions? It'd be nice to be able to play the game someday.

I've now determined that on a clean install of windows 7 x64 with all updates applied and all necessary drivers confirmed to be a flawless install with no security settings changed... defaults, no 3rd party programs installed..

Origin will QUIT unexpectedly for no apparent reason occasionally.... there is simply nothing at all that can be done...

attempted reinstall of origin may resolve it.. but would REQUIRE removing it completely FIRST as for whatever reason... attempted reinstall without prior removal doesn't seem to do anything.

However even after a reinstall, still occasionally can get it. It's totally unpredictable.

However i was able to reproduce the problem by causing my internet connection to lose connection for a few moments..... why origin would just completely QUIT without any crash message is beyond me though.

One permanent solution that SEEMS to work thus far is to run origin in offline mode.... however this is pointless if you have any of the DLCs that REQUIRE an internet connection to play.

Starting in Offline mode, I had the same problem.
So my only option is to repeatedly uninstall and reinstall Origin and ME3 and hope for a miracle?

EDIT:
Removed Origin and all games completely. Reinstalled, and still the same problem.

And any attempts to use EA's game support e-mail service have completely denied me the ability to even log in.

EDIT:
Okay. Facepalming a million times right now.
Double-handed, what has gone wrong with my life, Picard facepalming.

God damn you Avast! internet security. I thought I disabled you already.

Apologies for my raging and complaints.

So guys, any of you managed to get a solution? I just bought the N7 Digital Deluxe Edition and I couldn't play it since then. I REALLY expect someone to come with a good solution.

I just installed windows 8; and I didn't have this problem before. However I don't remember playing this game before or after I got my new provider modem which connects me to intranet and doesn't give me a direct internet connection.

When I want to make servers I have to go directly to my provider's customer website and configure my own hardware firewall there.

I wouldl ike to start by obtaining all the things it has to listen to and forward before I am going to uninstall every origin game / reinstall the whole thing

I don't know if this is significant, but I don't have {EF7E931D-DC84-471B-8DB6-A83358095474} anywhere I can find. Is this a significant file that I need. If so, how can I get it?

That looks like a hexadecimal number used in the registry. Not a file. Where does this question come from? If the registry itself is bad, you might need a more complete uninstall to solve the issue...files alone would not change the registry.

If origin itself keeps dying, there might be some log files somewhere under "C:\\\\ProgramData\\". When a program keeps mysteriously closing, there is a possibility something it links with doesn't work right...and mixing 32 bit and 64 bit could be related. You really need a developer to look at this, it isn't something the help desk would come even remotely close to having information on. I suggest you contact one of the moderators and ask for help.

I have been in chat with three technical supporters and on the phone with another.  I have exhausted just about every troubleshooting method in the book.  I think the problem might be a 32bit/ 64 bit compatibility issue. If so, how do I fix it? if not, has anyone else come up with a solution?

the compatibility styarted in  windows Vista and runs through AMD systems try 32 bit with intell cpus and g3eforce viseeo cards

I fixed the issue- Use a crack. You wont be able to play the game online, but thats better than not being able to play it at all.
