Is there a way to skip the intro movies?

Does anyone know how to skip everything before, say, James comes to get you? To be honest, I wouldn't mind skipping everything until your first dialogue choice, but that might be a bit drastic. I just want to get into a new game, check out a new face, etc. without waiting through 5 minutes of prologue I've seen since the demo.

It's a cinematic experience. You can't magically jump to the part of the movie that's good, can you?

I wondering this myself. The reason being is the character generator looks nothing like your in-game character so I find myself going through the process over and over... wasting time watching the same video for minutes on end...

A simple yes (with steps) or no would due.
At least there's no unskippable cutscene before a major battle where you have to take control of a character with 45 unallocated skill points. And you can't save once the battle begins, only after it.
That you know of.

Being able to skip the opening cut scene on subsequent playthroughs was one of the most requested features in ME2. There was even a fan-mod made that did it for you. It isn't difficult so I would have assumed that this was one of the first things they would have added.suprhomre wrote...
I don't think we could do that ME2 it's only natural to assume it would not do for ME3 either.

The various methods with which to skip the intros in ME2 are documented in several threads, on this and other forums.
www.gamespot.com/mass-effect-2/forum/any-way-to-skip-the-opening-cinematic-53200964/
http://social.biowar...-2992808-1.html
And even in the wiki, masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:Long_intro_in_me2_-_any_way_to_skip_it%3F.
I haven't done a very thorough test of the delete/rename method in ME3 yet, since what I did try caused the game to hang when starting, forcing me to exit out. The basic idea should still hold true, but someone more patient/knowledgeable than me might have better luck with it.

Thanks, RaXelliX, just a few questions before I give this a try. May I ask where you got this fix from, or did you create it yourself? Have you tried it and confirmed that it works? And what all does it skip, exactlyl?

I created this myself. It removes a references to 2 startup movies. The ME3 one mentioned here before and StartupLoop.bik
Although i may (i stress may) have discovered a bug this causes. Namely after ending a mission the cutscenes (generally departing scenes etc) quit abruptly to where you are talking to Admiral Hackett. Not sure if this is normal behaviour or it is caused by this mod. But ill test and see.

I suppose you used the tool that's been going around? Under what section should I look for the relay jump video thingy?

What bothers me is the damn relay jump video... Can't skip it, can't even replace it with a 1KB "blank" file like in ME2. That gets really damn old.
I suspect the relay jump video is actually a hidden loading screen so removal may not be possible.

Any way to get around these? I'd like to do a second play through but man...I've seen all that stuff already you know? :-)

Congratulations on making a file that doesn't do squat. Is it a scam? I didn't backup my files so you are welcome to tell me what it actually does, thanks.

Both the modified and original are included. Did you unpack them to the correct folder?

What I'd like to skip are those parts of scenes which don't contain any skippable dialogue but force you to sit and watch to the end. These aren't movie files, they are in-game cut scenes but pressing the space bar does nothing, and you can't skip them.

Actually yes. You need to create a keybind in Coalesced for "slomo 2.0" and another for 1.0. The slomo command governs animation speed, so at slomo 1.0 everything moves normally, at slomo 0.5 everything moves at half speed, and at slomo 2.0 everything goes twice as quickly. Giving yourself a 2.0 slomo key lets you fast-forward through any ingame render. It also lets Shepard run quickly through large spaces, though 2.0 is fast enough that you're likely to lose control and slam into things so if you're going to use it for that I'd recommend doing 1.5 or something instead.

Agreed. This is what I did in Mass Effect 2. I kept playing with the character creator, so being able to fast-forward through the intro scenes was a big time saver. I used the suggested value (in the link above) of "slomo 8" though. I think I'm gonna have to do it again for Mass Effect 3, because I'm not very happy with my current Shep.Quething wrote...

1. Download the ME3 Coalesced Utility from: http://wenchy.net/me...alesced-utility
2. Unzip it to a new folder.
3. Find your game folder and make a backup of Coalesced.bin (Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\BIOGame\\CookedPCConsole\\Coalesced.bin).
4. Run the ME3 Coalesced Utility.
5. Open the Coalesed.bin file (same location as above).
5. In the left pane, navigate to: bioinput.ini > sfxgame > sfxgamemodedefault > bindings = (multiple)
6. In the right pane, scroll down to the bottom and click on the blank line.
7. Add this: ( Name="NumPadSix", Command="SloMo 8 | OnRelease SloMo 1" )
8. Save. Make sure you have a backup first!
Now you can hold down the numpad 6 key to fast forward through in-game cutscenes.
