want to clarify how str/dex work for warriors

1) for damage, its entierly based on str right? dex has no factor in this at all, correct? I know daggers were suposed to be .5dex/.5 str for dmg, but not sure about other weapons. I actually heard daggers are bugged and only get X1 from str with no gain from dex right now o_O hope they fix that soon. so how do the other weapons work?

2) how does to hit work? is it a mix of dex/str or just str for melee weapons?

3) any other effects it has on warriors?

basically
im wondering how much i should worry about it as a 2h using Reaver. either going
reaver/templar or reaver/berserker, havent decided yet and really
wondering if i need to bother with this stat at all for chance to hit
or armor or anything since i'll need to pour most into con/str with
some willpower for sta pool

dex:
improves defense
improves attack (attack bonus is 50/50 strength & dex... a point in either has the same effect on attack)

str:
improves damage
improves attack (attack bonus is 50/50 strength & dex... a point in either has the same effect on attack)

I played a 2h using warrior, berserker / champion.

I focused on getting my Strength and Willpower as high as possible, and wearing the heaviest most protecting armour as possible. Got my amour value up to around 35 or so? also went for bonus stamina and stamina regen on gear...

my 2h warrior absolutely wrecked havok with spamming all the active combat abilities as fast as the cool downs would allow... and I'd spend time activating sustained abilities when I was stuck with all my abilities cooling down...

(the only sustained ability that should ALWAYS be on is indomitable... nothing more awesome than getting fireballed and then rest of your party gets knocked over and scattered on the ground, and you're still on your feet, closing in on the mage to cut his head off).

thanks, so sounds like the to hit is split evenly with str/dex with damage for melee being entirely based on STR, even for daggers right now (which are suposed to be 50% str/ 50% dex but are bugged) Correct? just want to be 100% on this since im starting tomorrow night

i guess for a 2h reaver/templar it would be best to focus on str/con/will and just pepper a few points in dex for some def and a tiny attack jump. Actually, Id think stacking str would be the better bet, wouldn't it? Wonder if its safe to totally ignore dexx

any idea when they plan on fixing the dagger bug? i was originally gonna be a rogue but decided not to after hearing about it

I pretty much totally ignored dex, beyond what I needed to get "Perfect Striking" (which is a fantastic ability... towards the end of the game I'd activate that just before I started attacking, and then activate the "Precise Striking" mode as well, the upkeep of which is lower than the activation cost of "Perfect Striking", so you get two buffs for the price of one, with absolutely zero cast time on both of them).

tnx that helps a lot, good little strat there. Im looking into my main intended class reavers right now and am a bit underwhelmed. I actually saw someone mention some of their skills are bugged or something, trying to dig for more info. THe last skill seems kinda garbage down the reaver tree

Uh, more damage if your health gets down is garbage ? Cant agree there, in combination with the second last ability its a great thing.

my understanding is the damage gain is pathetic and not worth it at all, and one post on gamefaq mentioned something about it being glitched as well as the devour corpse ability. Im trying to dig through posts there and here to see if theres more info on it

You can install the Dex Hotfix to make daggers get 0,5 damage from Dex and Str each.

If playing on normal you can probably safely ignore Dex. On Nightmare however I get the feeling that often more defence is better then more armour (even with max armour hits will still hurt a lot).

Damage the mobs deal scales with difficulty level, but their Attack accuracy supposedly does not. Just something to consider.
