okay so apparently he dies which brakes my heart, but according to the game guide if i dont talk to him andget further in the game that the salarian takes his place. i think his name is kerahe, he dies instead of thane. has anyone tested this? if not then ill just be on edge about it until i get to that part of the game.

If this is true then good bye random salrian. Rather keep my Thane alive even if he does not have long. Sorry but they die on my terms not for drama.

I feel the same way. I not that far yet but that's what the guide book says.guess i'll just have to try it out. I like the salarian but you get screwed if it saves Thane. I <3 Thane :)

Are you sure? I think he just dies anyway if you don't talk to him. I'll try this out later to see if it's true. If that's the case, then it looks like I'm restarting my game.

There is a way to get Kirrahe to die instead of Thane, but I think Thane just dies of Kepral's Syndrome later in the game. I'd rather he go out as a hero.

Yeah, apparently Thane dies of Kepral's Syndrome if you don't talk to him. His name just gets added to the memorial wall after a certain event on the Citadel if you haven't talked with him. Unfortunately, I was going to go talk to him after some sidequests, but oops, stupid event triggered. Not that there was much I could do about it at that point.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that there was a cure for it in ME3... idk maybe they were just saying stuff to be saying stuff.

Correct. If you speak to Thane he tells you he's been told he's had few months to live. Me, I passed up the chance on my first run so by the end of the game I saw his name on the wall in the Normandy's Crew section just in front of the elevator.

He's dying and IMO it's actually fitting to have him go out in a blazing glory against Kai.

See if you speak to Thane he tells Shepard that if it were months earlier he would of but now he has daily medical attention which would make it difficult for him to do anything.

Thane, Mordin, Legion died for Shepard's mission & cause. These 3 characters get an excellent send off because they died willingly and as heroes.

They all had excellent death scenes.

In some ways... I agree, but then a part of me is like... "Why the hell did I go through the trouble of making sure they survived the suicide mission if they were just going to die in ME3?!"

I think Bioware is Xenophobic :P

He has like few month left. I'm pretty sure Thane want a warrior death than anything else. Plus Kai Leng getting kick by a sick man is funny as hell.

No that's not a stretch at all <_<
It's quite different imo when it's someone else's life.  How would you feel if you saved one of your best friends' life only to watch them die in front of you two days later?
Granted, a lot of my angst about the game is coming from the bs ending I had to deal with about 3 hours ago.
They died doing something great, or protecting something important, there's very few of us in this world that will ever have that oppertunity. (NO that does not mean the endings are "ok"!!!)

His "hero" death scene had me crying like a little girl, I really liked Thane. The prayer for Shepard gave me chills and then made me blubber more.

Thane dies no matter what you do, unfortunately. If you get Kirrahe to stand in his place during the coup, you'll just end up losing both of them in the end.

He dies anyways and you get the death scene. He either dies saving the councilor and Kirrahe becomes an asset, o dies of disease.

True, all your loved ones will die one day... but unless you're a sick sick person, you don't replay their deaths over and over again, and enjoy them. I've played Mass Effect 3 once, and now I've got to forget it or my next few weeks will be spent in depression.

This ^

My eyes are still burning, my gf asked why my eyes were so red, I said from lack of sleep, which was also true after Moridin's death, then right after Thane's death+prayer I thought was for him but was for me...

His death is a very very good scene to watch though. Important to the plot.

I think his death was important too. It not only made him look like an hero but three races maybe more see him as an hero more than just the player. You got the humans, Salarians and best of all his own people. So yeah an good game from time to time does need someone take the ultimate sacrfice to ensure the player to suceed at all cost.
