The guys on xbox360 have it worst, only 6 buttons to use and only 3 are at a click only.

@op - why you need that much quick bar then the maximum can provided? Its not like you gonna be a buff bot, heal bot, nuker, cc , summoner, shape-shifter, debuffer and stealing your enemy while at the same time drinking a cool Aids with your other hand.

Bombs, potions and other abilities you earn during play. They all add up.

Hell my 1024 resolution is nearly full with my Rogue set-up with all the various poisons, bombs and traps he has access to along with his skills.

Unfortunately, it looks like you're just going to have to be selective. Surely you can get rid of some spells--there have to be a few you only picked up because they were on the way to something better.

An expandable (vertically!!) quickbar and more hotkeys for spells would be great.

If we could just expand the quickbar up to take up a second row, that would be fine. Or even have a hidden one that can be toggled or something like that.

I would love that. If you could hold down Ctrl or Alt and get a second and third row that would be amazing!

Can't imagine why they didn't do that since old as dirt MMOs have been doing it for ages.  (The only good thing about MMOs is their ******-proof interfaces, amiright?)

100% agree on the keybindings thing...been saying it since day 1. to me, i feel like having to look at the bar and drag my mouse there is immersion-breaking. I like to watch my character, not my quickbar....

Well, when u have mods that allow you to level up when ever you want, and so u have more access to spells that you wouldn't normally have, the issue of insufficient quick bar slots still stands. I have a Blood Mage, augmented with soo many spells due to mods, and I'm playing the game on a 42 inch tv. We definately need more slots, or some sort of stackablequick bar like in MMOs

I'd sleep easier if Bioware just acknowledged that this is a problem.

This is an unexpected way to effectively limit the abilities of mine Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage. I need all my spells and buffs (with cooldown timer), really. And my old CRT monitor can't handle 1600x1200.

Wow....

People playin on PC have 20-25 slots and they complain about not having enough?

I'm forced to play with 6, I would be extremely happy if I had 20.

The situation is intolerable on the consoles, and just bothersome on the PC's.

Probably worst for mages.

There is a quickbar mod that gives you a 2nd quickbar.

But, yah, it would be ideal if there was a Bio patch that either gave you a permanent "2nd row", or "rotatable" 2nd quickbar (i.e. you jump from one to the other).

For PC users there are always mods such as this one that add additional quickslot bars.  Just in case you want every single spell, trap, poison, bomb, poultice, injury kit and dog treat quickslotted.

Suggestion for the console: Remember, there is room for an A) button talent when holding the trigger.

The left trigger could EASILY be allocated to bringing up a new set of talents.

Then holding both triggers could bring up a fourth set of talents:

3 on the standard screen (X, Y, B)

4 on the screen when holding right trigger (X, Y, B, A)

4 on the screen when holding left trigger (X, Y, B, A)

4 on the screen when holding left and right trigger (X, Y, B, A)

That would erradicate the NEED to have the quick-menu on the left trigger, and it could have been moved to a bumper instead, with the D-pad used to switch between partymembers.

I also think a quick cast menu like the one in NWN2 would be the best solution, if not can we at least have extra rows? please?

If we can't expand it up (doubling its size) having alternate quickbars like NWN did (Shift, Ctrl, and Alt) would work just as well.

I believe there's a mod out there somewhere that does exactly this.

I find rather interesting the attitude displayed here by most console owners who expressed themselves about this issue. The general attitude seems to be "Why are you complaining, considering you're considerably better off than me?"

So, if the game has a flaw, albeit small, in the PC version, we should not make suggestions or seek alternatives, just because the consoles are even worse? Should we be happy about not being able to fully explore the game experience just because the console experience is somehow minimalist?
Consoles are very good at performing a limited set of tasks for which they are optimized, but the consequence is a terrible lack of flexibility. PCs on the other end, are very flexible, but lack the advantages of console streamlined hardware. This usually reflects on game design for both platforms, with console games often lacking sophistication and innovation in comparison with PC games. It's a trade-off, which console owners should learn to live with, as us PC gamers also must.
Whenever there are cross-platform games, one of the sides always loses, IMHO.

That said, the add-on bar suggested above works perfectly and solves the problem, although it would be even better if we got 2 rows of buttons instead of switching toolbars.

I wish they had made use of the empty space on the right side of the screen, they could have separate quickbars for separate talents, like a small one on the left for sustained abilities, the bottom one for activated ones, and a vertical one on the right of the screen for usable items...

I wouldn't mind the ability to shrink the size of the buttons either, it's easy to remember where each talent is if you sort them logically and it's not hard to identify them by color...
