LMAO after reading this thread.. ofcourse, the reason i was reading this is that I have the same problem...

What I gather from this thread though is the simple statement by EA & Bioware : "Day 1 DLC that doesn't work offline after you have acquired it? We have dismissed that claim!" xD

They aren't even admitting that this is a problem, let alone trying to fix it. :alien:

People who actually want to play offline, well use just google ;)

Yeah, but in my country such methods are not legal, so I'm still hoping for an official fix from Bioware for this issue.

I've always hated this kind of DRM. It does nothing to stop piracy and typically just inconveniences the user. I guarentee you the DLC protection will probably be cracked by somebody in a week or two. This has always been the case.

Quoted for truth. I already read something about a crack and there are good enough programmers, that they can crack every game (and they do).

This always just hurts the people like us who pay for everything.

And they did say that you only needed to activate it once with origin.

I didn't believe them, but they said it.

This is false advertising, I was offline in Origin, while connected to the internet, that worked, but when i was offline completely, i turned off my wireless switch and everything, it wouldn't let me load my save game, I'm so far in it and I worked so hard in mass effect 3 to get 100% preparedness rating, and it won't even let me load, according to your wording Bioware it should be one time authorization, this is ridiculous and it's punishing legitimate buyers, I support you guys, come on work with us!

Same story as always. Punishes the people who purchased the game through legitimate means while the pirates are playing problem free.

I just tried it, and it worked fine, but it looks like your problem is storing your save games on the cloud? You sure your save games are being stored locally?

my dlc needs to verify every time i start the game. the other day my internet cut out and i wanted to start the game, I had to tether my phone to my laptop so it could verify.

If i didn't have that option i would off been completely screwed

Seems to me your game's offline mode does not work consistently.

All DRM does these days is punish those of us who actually buy the games.  Anyone sufficiently motivated to pirate a game is going to find away around the DRM.

i just feel that if we purchased this content we have a right to use it however we please not have it held over our heads by EA and we have to jump through loops, we already have to use the Origin service just to play mass effect 3 exclusively on pc no matter where or how you buy it, but this, where we have to be online all the time to even LOAD our save files regardless on whether or not we even went to the DLC planet or got the character is just an outrage, either issue refunds or give us what we paid for offline, this is genuinely ridiculous!

I've played Bioware games since Baldur's Gate 1 and have been generally very pleased with their work. This is the first negative post I ever recall posting, directed at them (and EA):

Re: "I just tried it offline and turned off cloud storage, i contacted EA about this too they said i have to be online at all times to be able to access it"

This is a disgusting, unacceptable implementation of what's supposed to be primarily a single-player game. OMG... I've spent close to $200 for two copies of ME3 (for myself and my daughter) and I CAN'T LOAD MY SAVEGAME BECAUSE MY INTERNET CONNECTION IS &#$@! DOWN AGAIN?????? I am cancelling our SWTOR accounts in retribution. And I am NEVER buying another Bioware/EA game unless they rectify this UTTER NONSENSE!!!

I think for From Ashes being false advertising and because of EA's unreliable services, I think we should demand refunds or sue for false advertisement, who's with me?!

Saurabh: Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is Saurabh how may I help you?
you: I would like to formally ask for a points refund for the From Ashes DLC i purchased for mass effect 3
Saurabh: This is indeed upsetting. I'll do my best to cheer you up.
you: i was never told that i had to be online all the time just to verify From Ashes, let alone even touch my saved game
Saurabh: I apologize for the inconvenience caused. I'll do my best to address your concern.
Saurabh: May I know do you want to get refund of Bioware points?
you: sorry but that statement made no sense to me, can you rephrase?
Saurabh: I’m afraid I didn’t quite understand your last message. Please elaborate?
Saurabh: Could you please be more specific about the issue?
you: the reason i want a refund for From Ashes for the bioware points i spent was because i was unaware of the DRM that EA has placed on it, so if im offline, Im not even able to touch my save file, let alone verify the From Ashes DLC, so i feel that it was false advertising, because it was never when i looked at it in the Origin Store it just showed a brief description then it said purchase so i feel that either im entitled to a BioWare points refund, or this issue is fixed because EAs servers are (no offense) not really reliable
Saurabh: I apologize for the inconvenience caused. Ill do my best to address your concern.

I have tried to contact them for a refund, i waited for 10 minutes and no reply so i have a feeling they ignored me

UPDATE: I made a petition to allow you to play offline with this DLC: http://www.change.or...dlc-drm-in-me3#

Temporarily lost my Internet service and could not play single player mode because of the Ashes DLC. No matter what I did. Either Origin or ME 3 tries to authenticate the DLC and fails.

Starting a new game was allowed.

I ran ME 2 which has several DLCs. NO PROBLEMS offline. Of course it doesn't have Origin either.

So how long will it take to get Origin out of beta? And some people wonder why we complain about having to go through Origin.

same exact problem here except I can't even connect all the time when tethered through my phone

it's become incredibly exasperating... I just want to play the damn game

You don't even need to torrent it.. install the game you paid for, then swap the exe for the fixed version. Bingo, you can now play your game with all your DLC offline and without starting origin

It's not piracy if you paid for it. NoCD and the likes have been going on for generations of PC games allowing people to play what they bought wherever and whenever they want

absolutely, when I was younger I never paid for my games, now that I am gown up have an income I do value what the developers do and I understand that they need to get paid for that. But this whole crap really gets me thinking to return to the old days.

what ea does not understand is, that a lot of people pay for the game by choice and that they are making them regret that choice!!

If it wasn't for Origin, and my BF3 experience, I would have bought ME3. I don't get why EA thinks Origin will ever be a success, or who decided to create that waste of time/work/money. Glad I didn't though.

I would do a lot for playing mass effect games (Huge fan and mass effect addict) however
Titles I probably would have purchased, but will not (not even as low price < 10): Kingdoms of Amalur
Titles I might buy as low price ( < 10) but not sure: Dragon Age3

origin is saving me a lot of money (same as ubisoft, they have titles that interest me, but I don't like being accused of piracy, when I buy stuff, and I don't like all the complications I have to endure -give up privacy and stuff- that's they are on my ignore list, and ea is on the way of getting there)

Just went through the whole thread...is there any way of ensuring DLC is activated? Because I always run into that error when I start ME3 without an internet connection.

It's supposed to work as is.. there's really no way to force it. Sometimes it will cache your permissions, sometimes it will wig out

Won't know until you try
