Offline mode is a bit decieving. You Offline for Friends etc, but its still connected to EA servers.

If I launch the game in Offline mode, all works fine.
If the internet connection is disconnected, saves can not be loaded because a internet connection is required (Due to the Ashes DLC)

EAs Offline mode is NOT like Steams offline mode, where you activate once and thats it. No connection required again.

Wish I would have known this. I try to avoid premanant connection required games.

Just out of a curiosity.. When you start ME3 do you log into origin?

The check on DLC is made by Origin and you can log into Origin even if you are not connected to internet.

It should be enough that you are connected to internet and logged into Origin the first time you install the game and the DLC. Once you have been authorized you should be able to log into Origin offline and then your game should start without any authorization problem.

I've played DA2 and ME3 without needing any internet connection except when I added some new DLC, but just to authorize it the first time. And my network cable wasn't plugged into my PC while I was playing, so I'm 100% sure that I wasn't connected to internet.

Edit: The issue has been fixed in patch 1.02

It certainly wasn't for me as of 40 seconds ago.

I verified this DLC about a dozen times now. This has to be corrected COMPLETELY.

I disconnect the computer from the internet (literally pull the router cable out) and then I open the Origin client. It asks for my credentials and then starts in offline mode. I can then get into ME3 CE (in offline mode) just fine even though I have the From Ashes DLC installed. Once the EA servers have validated the DLCs the first time after installation then you should be able to play offline afterwards with no issues. The trick I've found is as I've said, for the computer to be physically disconnected to the internet so that the EA servers cannot be contacted. With mine, the game just lets me resume the game even though I have various DLC installed. Now if I'm connected but the EA servers are unavailable then I get the usual cannot authorise From Ashes DLC error and cannot play.

I am cancelling our SWTOR accounts in retribution. And I am NEVER buying another Bioware/EA game unless they rectify this UTTER NONSENSE!!!

I did the same, i don't even want to mention the terrible fps drop in ilum, the worst support ingame it self and on their forum.

They killed world pvp in the last 2 patches and raised the points in warzone 4 medals x 500 points .... everyone has the same ranks, armor/gear etc.

Less content, if your above valor rank 65 you get very bored in this game as well.

SWTOR = Crap and i won't even bother to invite friends to it.

Yup, what patch. I'm pretty sure my Origin and Mass Effect 3 are both absolutely patched and in their newest version. But still the same:

This needs to be fixed NOW.

Um, you CAN play the single-player off-line. ;)

I just tried it, disconnected my internet, started the game. Origin still runs in the background in off-line mode but I had no problems playing.

Still got the DLC check message, but since the DLC is already installed and verified to my account, there wasn't a problem.

You only need to be on-line all the time for the multiplayer part for obvious reasons.

:wizard:

No, if you have the DLC and you're offline it wont let you play SP.

Not so sure about that. Some players seem to have no problem with it and I wonder why. Alas, I won't play ME3 much until this is fixed once and for all. :( :( :(

/edit: I think I found something, but I have to try that a few times before I'd definitely confirm that it serves as a "workaround" on my PC. I experienced offline mode surprisingly working with DLC when I started Mass Effect 3 immediately after booting my PC, before I even established an internet connection once.

If this works as well for other users, or if it doesn't, please post it here.

This would be similar to some of the descriptions above (the one with pulling the network cable out of the PC to solve the problem...).

...Bioware. FIX NOW.

With Origin in offline mode, all Pre-Order and Collector's Edition material is unavailable in my newly started game, even though it had already been available to a previous character.
There's not even an error or warning message.

Not decent.

Ummmm....yeah... I agree with other people, this needs to be fixed, for you to disable all network adapters for you to even play it offline is a true outrage, below are 2 screenshots that i have made when i tried this, i didn't disable my adapters completely just turned off my wireless switch and disconnected my ethernet i didn't disable the adapters from the control panel (i had hamachi at the time hence why it says limited ethernet connection)

Image IPB

that above image shows when you cant connect to the Alliance Network (which isn't unusual it can happen even if you have the most stable internet connection in the world

Image IPB

And this above image shows when the DLC cannot be authorized, it tells you it can't even load your single player save file for some reason

PLEASE NOTE: the workaround people have mentioned does work, where you manually disable everything and it won't check, but I don't think you should have to do that just to play your own game offline

So, I take it the new patch does fix a lot of DLC-related issues, but definitely not this one, which HAS to be known and been evaluated by Bioware by now?

I was wrong.

I apologize to BioWare and agree that Tobey2011 has mislead us. This is disappointing.

new patch comes out in a few days, right?

In any case, it's really frustrating to not be able to play my SP, not because I don't have an internet connection, but because EA servers are down.

*Go on to play MP, servers are down. "I guess I'll play some SP until they fix the servers." And then you get the dumb "could not authorize DLC message" ಠ_ಠ

Wait, so can you play ME3 offline or not?

And by offline I mean starting the GAME without starting ORIGIN. That's what playing offline is.

No. Read the last pages.

You must always start Origin before ME3 will start. This thread is about a problem that has occurred - and still occurs - to SOME players who could not load their games while being offline because Origin keeps trying to validate installed DLC that has already been validated before. With this problem, playing offline is impossible.

I started my 2nd play-through offline and it worked. Well sort of. In offline mode it doesn't credit your new game with the dlc you purchased. Unless you play as online for a bit just to authorise everything. So every time I start a new play-through I will have to be in online mode for the first bit of the game. Not cool.

This worked for me. Thank you!!!

I'm still trying to decide which is more annoying - steam or origin. It's just so hard to choose...

The thing that really pisses me off is that the EA servers are down at the moment most likely because of the "free weekend". So, not only does the paying customer suffer while the pirate goes unpunished, the paying customer suffers because EA is giving concessions to the free customer. It's adding insult to injury.

No it's not. Please don't confuse the issue more than it already is. \\

Offline means internet is not required. Which is much different from "a third party launching app is not required", which is what you're talking about. (Origin can be run without internet connection)

I won't be buying this game until either Origin is removed as a requirement or I am assured that beyond the initial setup, the game does not need an internet connection, ever.

That and they remove the ridiculous multiplayer requirement

So, Origin 8.6 supposedly fixed some DLC-related stuff, my game is also updated and... voila, still the same error. I can not imagine that Bioware and EA are not aware of the issue, so fact must be they just refuse to fix it. I have ME3 with paid DLC and I can't play offline because of it, and that's that. I hope you know what it means to lose a customer forever.

It doesn't fix the DLC stuff you have in mind, it fixes the DLC download system so it doesn't time out on you, and it just adds a release date for pre-release DLC

seeing as the best ending is a photoshopped ending, I think EA and BioWare should be sued for false advertising for the DLC let alone all of the false advertising they did, even the Better Business Bureau said it is false advertising, so I think someone should sue them for the false advertising, i tried getting a refund for the DLC pack and the advisor kinda ignored me
