So imagine this. Single Shepard romances Jacob in Mass Effect 2. In Mass Effect 3, Jacob falls in love with and impregnates another woman, cheating on Shepard. Shepard feels used but moves on to Kaidan. Ending comes, Shepard survives but Kaidan is stranded on unknown planet.
So...
Shepard sad and alone
Kaidan sad and alone
Jacob happy WITH NEW FAMILY??
I found Shepard's happy ending, Jacob stole it!! **** JACOB!! I was nothing but nice to that bastard and his cold shoulder bull**** and out of everyone he gets the happiest ending?!
I support rockets to the face for Jacob in Mass Effect 2 from now on! D:<

I doubt they changed anything despite saying that they may based on feedback.I just wanted to see how accurate the leakes were.Of all things why did they do that to Jacob lmao.

This post made my day.
That being said, I'm still angry about his treatment. Just because Jacob has fewer fans doesn't mean they deserve this, and it's a plotline that would never, ever fly for a LI like Tali or Garrus or Liara. FemShep's ME2 LIs were sort of thrown under the bus, even with the 'rocks fall, everyone dies' ending.

I was pissed when I first found about what happens to Jacob. But I cooled off after I realized that in the end, every romance gets screwed over.
Still, I really wish they found a better way to break off the romance than... that. Like a heroic sacrifice or something.
And yeah, they did this because he was unpopular and they knew they could get away with it. If they did this with any other romance then you can imagine what the forums would be like.

Very true! If they had Tali run off with Kal'reegar in ME3 despite romancing her in the previous game BSN would be in flames by now.

They made him into quite the **** huh? ME1 romances waited 2 years thinking you were dead, and Jacob can't wait for 6 months where he knew where you were.

I've been hoping for some time for all the rumors about this to be wrong, but I just confirmed it myself. I analyzed the dialogue, even finding ways that it worked without ruining the integrity of the Jacob romance. But in game? It's as bad as the leaks first indicated, and worse.
I love ME3. It's a great game. There isn't one thing I've run into yet that has hurt it for me, except this. There's NO reason to treat Jacob's character this way. As of now, he dies in the SM if romanced. So he goes out as the character I knew, not the mockery Bioware made him in ME3.
