I would let the CPU bus speed at 333 (if you're not overclocking), but instead I would try to manually lock PCI-e frequency at 101 MHz (default is 100).

But in generall I would try few things:
1. Load clean system backup / reinstall OS
2. Before reinstalling OS, download latest drivers for mainboard, chipset, etc. + last stable GPU drivers (not necessary the newest ones)
3. If you're not installing aditional software from original CDs, then I would suggest to download them again. You never know what might be the source of system infection, which might cause instability.
4. Check, if you have newest BIOS flashed (before you try to flash new BIOS version, check if you got the right version for your motherboard! Not recommended for BFU users)
5. Check your temperamentures. Use software, which can give you log output - playing game and switching into Windows really isn't accurate testing method
6. Issue might be also "cheap" PSU - would not hurt to give it some burn testing, or if you're not sure / don't want to risk some damage, you may simply put here PSU manufacturer and model - I am quite sure that I can tell you, if your PSU might be source if issue, or not.
7. Check your firewall / antivirus settings. Might be not connected to the issue, but it never hurts to be sure that there is no software infighting.
8. If nothing worked, then it's too bad and I am afraid, that there is really nothing you can do about it - might worth a shot to test playing ME3 in lowest possible setting with disabled features. If it will crash even with lowest possible graphical settings, you can be quite sure, that issue is definetely not at your side.

Glad I could help. But don't punch you screen if it still freezes sometime, you just have to tweak it a LITTLE bit more down :)

:D Who would have thought I'd need to downgrade my PC to be able to play Mass Effect 3

I'll keep that in mind, if anything comes up in the future. But the system is stable now. Thanks

So how do you do that?

If you don't know how to change your clocks then I think you shouldn't attempt to change them anyway because it's too risky a process. You can simply end up not being able to boot at all. If I were you though I would take my PC to a technician or a friend who has done it before and who knows what he's doing then watch carefully what he changes and what he doesn't and how he does it.

Also download the free utility called cpu-z and post your cpu, memory and graphics values here

Seems like quite a few with the freezing problem have Windows 7 64bit. I'm having the freezing problem too, but with a Radeon card.

Yes the windows 7 64Bit seems to be the common thing with all the hard system freezes reported so far.

Not me, I am running XP SP3.

Cdchi1 send me a PM, because he couldn't post on the forums. He said disabling "dynamic shadows" in the game worked for him. I couldn't try it at the moment, because i had to reinstall Windows. Thanks to Cdchi1 for this tip, maybe it will work..

Having very similar problem. Game freezes and then crashes at the exact same point every time. Don't know what more to try, and Bioware's "T3 tech support" has yet to reply.

It's extremely upsetting & insulting that they can devote manpower/time to something as trivial as the face import bug, while many of us CANT PLAY THE GAME!

Is it really possible, that this problem is not in fixed with the next patch? Haven't found it in the notes. o_O

I have the same problem. When the "dynamic shadows" are included, then the game crashes at the Citadel and Noveria. When the switch off, the game works fine.

My system froze while playing the multiplayer. It has only happenend once and my temperatures were all within acceptable paramiters. No log could be found that can be traced back to this error.

Installing the game while posting here. I will disable dynamic shadows. Well, I think I will post here if it works or not tomorrow.

Well.. I turned off dynamic shadows and played 4-5 hours without freezing. But I think this proves nothing. 10-20 hours will be much better. :D

I tried turning off dynamic shadows when it was first mentioned. Still saw some freezes. And the latest patch didn't fix it for me either.

Same here, patch and no dynamic shadows has done nothing to stop the lockups.

Strange.. it seems to work for me. Played additional 5-6 hours without any freezes. o.O My system is new. Could it be a compatibility problem with installed software? It's sad to see, that turning off dynamic shadows doesn't help for everyone. Would've been helpful for BW to fix it. >.<
