The thing is, while I hated all possible endings, I think that they could have been good with only minor adjustments. This is part of why I am so upset about it.
Firstly, wtf was the Normandy using a Mass Relay? They got stranded on some unknown planet while barely escaping destruction because they were using the relay network as Shepard destroyed it. Why? They were fighting with the rest of the fleet above earth, so why didn't they just crash there? There was no reason for them to be leaving via the relay except to make an ending where they get stranded. It was a glaringly stupid plot hole.
Which brings me to my second point: After investing so much time in building relationships with other characters, which has been a cornerstone of ME gameplay, I would have preferred if my Shepard had been able to re-join them after the destruction of the relay network. Again, if Normandy had crash landed on Earth, and you unlock the best ending where Shepard lives, this would be possible.
I really would have been OK with the relay networks destruction. Quick summary of how I'll like to imagine the ME series ended:
1. Relay network destroyed along with the Reapers.
2. Shepard re-joining his crew for some well earned retirement.
3. The fleets of the galaxy stranded on Earth, left to help rebuild while they research alternative methods of FTL to rejoin their home worlds.
The End. Wouldn't have to explain everything. Just leave me with some hope that all the work I put in over three games building relationships with characters and alliances with other races wasn't a complete waste.

i'm a man with simple wishes. I want a ending that shows you and your LI together. I understand that several squadmates need/will die and that's ok, but i want those characters that really matter to you to be there at the end. The galaxy can even be in ruins with billions dead, and maybe even some/all relays destroyed (although not preffered). Just give shepard some peace (with LI) at the end of his epic yourney, the man deserves it.
Not going to start writing whole fanfics here, just want a semi-decent ending.

Just remember ST Voyager. And captain Janeway's line "There must be a way to have out cake and eat it". Or something like that. M.

Just one ending, however hard to get: Shep climbing on top of a pile of rubble on Earth, looks at destruction, then one by one, squaddies climb next to him, givving small nods.
EPIC LENSFLARE FROM BEHIND
The End.
Leaves way less questions open, also note: lensflare.
