So. Your final conversation with the Illusive Man in the top secret Citadel control room. Aside from the renegade shooting thing (which I'm still not sure why there isn't a Paragon option to just shoot the gun out of his hand or something), I hit a Paragon/Renegade option set that I was entirely unable to use in the discussion. Just both greyed out.

Given that I've taken every paragon option for the last three games... I find it boggling. Has anybody experienced this or been able to take the paragon/renegade options in this conversation? And if so... does it even do anything, since he's failed to actually react to ANY paragon option EVER?

I picked paragon on all of them. It is basically just like talking to Saren again. You can fight this, we can win just help me! IM: No Shepard, I'm in control not them, etc. Then he shoots himself.

I had that as well.

I could have been missing 2 reputation points perhaps from absolute max but im pretty sure im maxed.

Perhaps its an option that only opens on the new game + thingy?

no idea.

edit: beaten to the punch! I must have been missing those last few rep points. Cheers Strive!

I was able to use this option, it gets him to realize his mistake and shoot himself like Saren.

WTF? I KNOW I'm maxed on paragon and both options are grayed out. What gives?

I did all paragon on him, and he does like Saren and apologizes then shoots himself in the head to stop himself due to indoctrination. I honestly felt sorry for him in the end because of it, he want to help humanity but just went about it the wrong way.

What were your readiness levels? Perhaps that has an effect on it?

I went all renegade (Intimidate). Didn't seem to achieve anything except pissing him off. Get a do-or-die interrupt to shoot him (he shoots and kills you if you fail it)

In order to get the Paragon option on TIM you must have successfully convinced him before (not sure if it has to be Paragon as well). If you didn't do it before (I think there are 3 opportunities... don't know if you need to hit all 3 because I did) this option won't come up.

I couldn't get this option either. Even though every other time I spoke to him and the blue option was there, I took it throughout the whole game. I also know my paragon was maxed out.

with maxed paragon I used all the blue conversations... but in the end he don't kill himself, he take his gun and tried to shoot (But I hit the renegade trigger).

If I don't hit the trigger, then he kills himself? or I die in a stupid way?

Lol don't know what I did but I convinced him he was wrong and he turns the gun on himself and shot himself in the head. In the end he died a hero, just like Saren in my me1 playthrough.

I both paragon and renegaded my way through the conversation and got both options at the end. Did you use the paragon/renegade options in all the other conversations you had with him in the game? That's the only thing I can think of, unless for some reason both options weren't auto-win this time.

I'd like to add my name to this list. I've done every possible +Para thing out there and still can't choose this final option. In every single conversation I did the Para response in ME3.

I'm playing a ME1/ME2 imported character that was also fully Para.

Remember you have to persuade him on Mars to do so in the end.

If you do Paragon until the final line of his dialog then renegade he tries to shoot you and somehow despite being controlled you shoot him. He does say a final line after being shot tho.

Kite - You're saying there was a conversation on Mars that already determined my outcome hours later in this game; that was just a normal dialogue option back on Mars?

Because whatever kind of talking I did with him; I always choose the Para-way; both regular and blue text.

Uh he didn't die a hero, he died a war criminal beyond comprehension who had a last second change of heart (in a 1% sense).

The final paragon/renegade options were greyed out for me as well. Not sure why.

And honestly I don't care either.  It's not like it really changes anything.

Aesieru - My issue is that both are grayed out options for me during the final conversation. I think there is a total of 3, or 4 choices during the whole thing but what seems to be the final one (when he's about to shoot someone) is completely grayed out even though I'm full Para.

There was an option that led to a para/renegade decision on mars.

Mars, Cerberus Station, Citadel Foundry Control are the three areas you can talk to him.

If you are consistent and have enough reputation you should be able to talk to him.

Wow, that is amazing. Something that early on in the game can have such a huge impact on something at the end. As a casual player I don't have the time to do another damn playthrough to make sure I select one conversation option that means the life or death of someone 10+ Gameplay hours later.

I'm nearly 100% positive that I would have/did follow the correct 'conversation order' on Mars that would have lead to this. Just amazing... All that Para bull for nothing. Very dissapointed.

I liked it.
.
And I don't see TIM as Saren 2.0. The former not only was a much better character, but his motives were vastly different. The very end is similar though.
