There was an option that led to a para/renegade decision on mars.

Wow, that is amazing. Something that early on in the game can have such a huge impact on something at the end. As a casual player I don't have the time to do another damn playthrough to make sure I select one conversation option that means the life or death of someone 10+ Gameplay hours later.

I'm nearly 100% positive that I would have/did follow the correct 'conversation order' on Mars that would have lead to this. Just amazing... All that Para bull for nothing. Very dissapointed.

It's possible you overlooked something, over-arching personality choices are pretty 100% common in most RPG's these days, especially anything from BioWare, that being said, I think the Assets and reputation are a bit bugged at times, more than likely tho, you just didn't have enough Rep.

The Para Rep isn't the problem. I even grabbed a Trainer (to test it) just to be sure; has/had to be a conversation bug some where in the past.

I'd like to add my name to this list. I've done every possible +Para thing out there and still can't choose this final option. In every single conversation I did the Para response in ME3.

I'm playing a ME1/ME2 imported character that was also fully Para.

I too am in this boat.  I did Paragon with him at every single opportunity, and finished the game with full Paragon, and yet was unable to do the very last Paragon choice (both were grayed out).

Anyone know what additional pre-conditions there are?  Or is this just a bug?  (I am 100% sure I did Paragon everywhere, even Mars).

Am I the only one who likes shooting TIM? He even gets another line. I love "saving" Anderson and shooting TIM to get his extra line. Very beautiful end.

In my game, I got to use the Paragon action. I don't know why you guys aren't getting it but I did use the Paragon option with TIM every single time I got the option to.

And let me just say I was a complete hater of TIM until I got to this scene and saw him shoot himself. You know that the story is great when you can get someone like me to feel this bad for a character that I've hated ever since I laid eyes on him in ME2. He seemed like nothing but a selfish bigshot that prefers to get others to do his work for him. But wow, to see himself shoot himself like that, I almost felt like crying. ;(

Okay so i think this is how it works. You can be both renegade and paragon and still get both options IF you have a high enough reputation. It is reputation that matters, not the allignment you have. This is good for people who play paragade or renegons.

Ok that makes sense cause I had th same ending as ridersDX. The only difference is I really liked him as a bad guy and not just because Martin sheen voiced him though I gotta say it didn't hurt.

I, for the life of me, cannot understand why the final Paragon/Renegade option at the end of the convo w/ the Illusive Man was greyed out for me. I made sure to do every single side-quest and choose (unless maybe I mis-clicked once in one of the first 2 games. I know for 100% sure I did every single Para in ME:3) every single Paragon option.

What gives?

EDIT: Nevermind... I'm fairly certain that I didn't choose the "You're wasting time!" option on Mars when I was talking to him to unlock that Paragon option. Damnit... The one time in the entire game I didn't click that middle-left option when it was available. *sigh*

You're not alone. Even with my NG+ my paragon and rep couldn't get any higher and that last bit of dialog is grayed out. I really don't know what else to do.

Each class has a power that boosts reputation, did you go with that or the one that just boosts shields/damage? I know on my first playthrough I didn't have the +rep one and I had those options greyed out, even though my paragon score was very high.

Yeah, I have the same problem. The final charm/intimidate options were greyed out for me, meanwhile my Paragon was maxed out and my rep bar was up to seemingly high heaven. I did every possible side quest, scanned almost all things in levels and the galaxy map (really only missed out on some credits and fuel) and had my class power set to boost my rep. I also went back and played my save on Mars to make sure I wasn't dreaming and I was able to select the charm option after "You're wasting time!" during that convo. And of course during the subsequent two conversations with TIM (Thessia and the Cerberus base) I was able to and did choose the charm dialogue there. In short, I'm 100% sure I did everything possible I can think of.

So that leaves two options: it's either A) a bug or B) dependent on some other condition, such as NG + only, or something to do with your import from ME2. I just wish someone could confirm what it is so that when I do my insanity playthrough I know what I did wrong and/or what to expect in that scene. I had no problem with using the only Renegade interrupt my Para Shep ever used to shoot him in my 1st playthrough, but I'd really like the option to see him realize the error of his ways the 2nd time around.

Unless it's a bug, in which case it needs to be addressed. But given the laundry list of game-breaking bugs already present, I'm not too hopeful...
