At first glance I thought it was depicting the reapers entering earth's atmosphere with long trails of plasma following them as they ionized the gas at high realative velocities.

But after being forced to look at it while a page took forever to load-I realized that the trails were some glowing crap coming out of......erm.....the reaper equivilent of a sphincter on their tail ends?  Hell if I know.

WTF is up with that crap?  (No pun intended)
