So, speaking with a certain Asari bartender, Liara was referred to as my girlfriend, even though I was SUPPOSED to be staying Loyal to Kaidan.
Is this a glitch in her conversation or is Liara the Isabella of Mass Effect 3 and making nice with her automagically makes her my LI?
I was curious if there was a way to tell how my game is going, because if Liara is going to crash my quarters at the end of the game, I am going to be upset. I have a completely different Shepard planned for Liara. =( If I have to restart my game, I wanna know now before I get any further.
Kaidan Romance Glitch? "NO! She is not my girlfriend!!!"

I'd love to know the answer too. My Shep confirmed her romance with Garrus after their meeting, but Aethita calls Liara Sheps's girlfriend. It got me worried.
Should I reload and avoid this quest now to screw up relationships with Garrus?
Or it is just a conversation bug/writer oversight (we all know how writers prefer Liara to all other characters) and doesn't affect your romance?

Just started Act 2, so I will see how Kaidan reacts when I see him.

I bet Aethyta says that to every Shepard. Probably a glitch. Apparently, Liara doesn't recognize the reunion with Shepard after LotSB.

Yeah, just started Act II and as soon as Kaidan rejoins the Normandy, you can go back to the cafe and talk with him. Woot.

Son of a... and here I thought I was special because she said that after I had stayed faithful to Liara in 2 and reunited after LotSB.

Maybe she's just using it casually/"modernly". You hear women refer to their group of female friends as "girlfriends" all the time now.

Where is Atheyta? I've heard she's on the presidium commons, but I've looked all over and can't find her.

She said it to my Shepard too, and she was completely faithful to Kaidan. I kind of assumed she said it in that way that family members sometimes do... where they automatically assume that anyone they meet that is of the right gender/species/etc (which for asari would be pretty much anyone) that their child/sister/cousin/whatever has a significant interpersonal relationship with is automatically a romantic interest.

Well, romance with Garrus is ok despite the phrase, so phew:) Must be some conversation glitch.
But part of me is paranoid that it could be an attempt to establish 'canon' LI. For example, someone could hear that conversation and start a rumor about Shepard/Liara. Maybe this rumor got into Shepard's legend and the truth was lost.Convenient workaround for future series.
Though after what they did to Revan, I doubt they will use such subtle approach:(
