I don't see my decisions having an impact on the main missions at all, just a few lines of dialogue here and there.  The Krogan DMZ is especially disappointing.  I kept Maelon's data and my brother had it destroyed, mission plays out the exact same way.

Not a spoiler because it was in the demo.  Next time just make a linear trilogy instead of teasing us with the concept of our decisions having impact okay?

The deeper I get into this game the more disappointment I find.

Yep, It would have been epic if the decisions you had in ME1 had a direct effect on the ending. Would really make those characters quest epic, but whats the point if you can just get every ending simply by playing just ME3.

This. It makes playing the games the way I wanted seem kinda pointless now.

Yeah, VO are expensive so there is only a couple of lines that would be different.

I'm not sure if I want to play anymore, I'm afraid of what else I'll discover that'll disappoint me. This game screams "cheap" in so many ways.

If I replay the previous entries ever again, I know those "tough decisions" are going to be a hell of a lot easier now that I know they don't even matter.

*sigh* So what was the point of the previous games if the ending never comes full circle?

I'll agree it's kind of disappointing to see that most of my choices simply come down to War Assets and the like, though it's somewhat better than ME2 so far where all you got for most of them were emails.

Edit: Though I did get a REALLY funny cutscene that took two of my choices from the game and combined them. (One from ME1 and the other was the result of several choices over the past two games.) Made me smile.

I don´t have a playtrough from ME1 with Wrex dead, he seems important so far in my story in ME3 so can someone confirm if Wrex is in if we got him killed in ME1?

They stopped caring about you when they realised they could throw in a few extra features and appeal to the gay market, the multiplayer market, the gears of war market, release day 1 DLC and pay for multiplayer packs and just get a hell of a lot of money for this.

Honestly thats what it comes down to. They sold the series out, same as they did Dragon Age.

I'm building a time machine so I can warn my past self and get him to cancel his preorder. If anyone would like to help me with that (building a time machine is hard!) I'll instruct your past selves too.

You say this as if there aren't any death retcons/sidesteps in ME3

That would be the logic lol, what i want is to know for sure because he seems to be rather important so far in my playthrough of ME3 and i´m wondering who would replace him.

Well, my first playthrough of ME3 is with my ME2 only character (FemShep Infiltrator). I can say that the default choice regarding Wrex that was made is that he is dead. He is definitely NOT in my ME3 playthrough, and he is replaced by the one that was leading Clan Urdnot during Me2, Urdnot Wreav. Both my other (so far) completed FemSheps (ME & ME2 for both) have Wrex alive, so i am looking forward to the differences between it being Wreav or Wrex that is leading the Krogan.

I think you can still say it with every bit of the intent 99% of people ever had saying it in the first place.

Seems like you can cancel away, to me. Preorder cancelled meme cancellation cancelled.

There's hundreds tiny bits that can be different based on your actions in past games. It might not change the outcome a lot but it still gives you the feeling like you shape the world around you. Even if it's just cosmetics.

The little things matter. If I told Liara to "buzz off" in ME2, but need her later in a life or death situation that may arise in ME3. If she doesn't show up. She still might, but buzz off may have been the wrong choice of words.

See how this works?

Side missions were meaningless to some the previous two entires; yet, even with MP now, they're pretty damn important. Choose not to do them ...

This game as the other two weren't pointless, unless you expected something you didn't get.

I think it's the old "grains on a chessboard" problem that Bioware didn't take into account. Look it up... take a chess board and put one grain on the first square and then double up on the next square so you get 2 on the next and 4 on the next... Doesn't sound much increase but by the time you get to the last square there will be 18,446,744,073,709,551,615 grains.

Now take into account all the different choices Shepard makes... More squares than on a chessboard for sure and just imagine how many different voiceover line changes to the plot will occur. Now take into account all the "Star" voice actors lines and you can see how that would make it impossible to make.

Bioware just got over-enthusiastic designing ME1 and didn't take into account that damned chessboard. So just cut them some slack maybe? Is the game enjoyable in itself? That's the main thing. I bet its story isn't half as bad as GOW3 heh.

So far my favourite RPG has to be Skyrim (and I much prefer SciFi over fantasy so that says something right there). Mass Effect was an RPG in ME1, turned into an Action RPG in ME2 and now sounds like an Action Shooter in ME3... THAT'S what's turning me off tbh (auto dialogue FTL).
