Just give in and do the fix, complaining will get you nowhere as I am pretty sure that the moderators do not check this part of the forums anymore (just reference my previous post on this thread).Social Sin wrote...
Bioware you need to get on this, Earth DLC drops tomorrow and all I get to do is enjoy the logo of EA flashing before my eyes (talk about adding insult to injury) before it shows the earth and goes to black screen.
If you're going to let this continue to happen in your future products at the very least add some more weight to your discs so it's a viable paper weight, because as of now I have a waste of $60

Well considering I'm not a tech or computer savvy person I'm attempting his fix but am stuck right at part 2 where it says open horizon.exe downloaded the little package that contains horizon and the XBDF and when I double click horizon all I get is a pop up saying no application was specified to run it.Shepard Cmdr wrote...

So I'm stuck at step 2, I've transfered my profile to a USB, have said usb plugged into my comp and I'm at a loss on what to do, I can't open horizon to extract any "broken profile" I've already created a backup of my profile in case I screw something up which is highly likely

That sucks. Bioware really should fix this problem, however at this point I have given up all hope for an official fix.Social Sin wrote...
nvm apparently I can't even use that fix as I don't use a PC nor do I run bootcamp or anything else which I guess I need to be able to run .exe files and I'm not about to download/pay for bootcamp or anything else like that to play a game I should be able to play regardless.

How can this still be unresolved after 3 months?

Thank you for the post. I used the fix and can finally enjoy Mass Effect 3 again.

What good would a new copy do you though? If you have this you can't play it regardless. Those of us that got the BSoD in the first week tried that many times each. A disk has absolutely nothing to do with the problem.SasoChicken wrote...
Supposedly I'm getting my "follow up email" today. If better be "Here have a new copy"

So I get a "follow up" e-mail in 5-7 business days, I mentioned on the phone that Resante had made a quick home fix and her reaction was "Someone at home managed to fix it but nobody here has done anything yet?...huh"
Come on, when your own tech support is surprised by your lack of fixes for a problem a member of the community has helped solve (for some) you know you need to work on your CS and monitor and drop in to the forums more often and pay attention

Just got off the phone with tech support at Bio/EA called the bioware # and then through automation it took me to EA tech support. Explained everything to the woman according to her, half of the people at the tech support thing working on the ME3 issues haven't even heard of the BSoD.

Yeah...actually, it's going on five months now. Funny thing is, I recently heard that a similar issue on Bethesda's PS3 version of Skyrim still remains unfixed after an even longer time (8 months?). Crazy how beloved devs like Bioware and Bethesda can even retain their credibility amid such neglect. And, furthermore, consider the fact that the Skyrim glitch has been all over the gaming media, and the ME3 Black Hole glitch has recieved next to no coverage. It really doesn't bode terribly well for an eventual fix to this.

I do not think there is any risk to any of your other games (unless you really screw up and mod the wrong game), If you are playing the insanity playthrough for the achievement, you are out of luck as the fix resets all of your achievment progress. It will also delete all of your bonus powers. I think the risk of banning is low to nonexistent as you are only fixing your game not giving yourself an advantage (also it is a gamertag mod not a game mod).SasoChicken wrote...
Resante's article on how to fix it yourself says "Follow these steps at your own risk, you take responsibility for anything that happens to your profile/Xbox/PC"- what could happen (worst case scenario) in the process and are negative results commonplace when attempting this fix? I just want to be sure before actually trying it myself. I really would hate to lose all my Halo maps, 10 and 1/2 Mass Effect 2 playthroughs, A full ME3 playthrough + half an Insanity playthrough, a single Skyrim Character that I've had since it came out, a bunch of Forza 3 and 4 paintjobs, all my Battlefield guns and other unlocks, etc.
