After thinking about it for a while and from the way it's written, I think all this update is going to do is exactly what Resante suggested people do.  It seriously sounds like all it does is delete/wipe clean title specific 1, 2, and 3.  In which case it isn't a fix, it's just slapping duck tape on it and hoping it holds.

Seriously, if Bioware would communicate with us at all (I'd say better, but I won't lie for them) maybe we'd know more about the specifics of this patch.

yah, but if they included a line of code to check if those files are corrupted, and if they are to delete them, then it could work. The only problem being the wiping of achievment progress, and bonus powers.  Although if it is resante's fix, then I feel he deserves some credit.

If that is basically what the patch is doing, yea imo all credit to Resante. Based on previous posts from Bioware, I think it'd be safe to say they had no idea where to even begin looking before Resante thought up what he did.

Having said that, I don't think they'd credit him. They don't seem the type to 'share' anything.

I doubt it, it probably won't fix half the problems it says it will, let alone ones it doesn't.

I feel a strange sense of satisfaction from this, because we've been able to do the same damn thing for the last 6 months. No proper fix = fail. If they were going to do the same thing we're doing they could have developed a fix months ago, its pretty easy to compare the bad title specific portions to a good one, the bad ones I've seen are always the same size. Someone over there must have said "F it we give up."

I don't feel like reading the entire thread with the patch notes, did they say anything about fixing the issues that caused this in the first place? If not... I can see it now. This is going to continue forever and people are going to randomly have their progress reset without even knowing it.

that part that I quoted was the entire section for the Xbox specific fixes, I do not think they have updated it since.  Some people will start complaining that their bonus powers were reset though,  just imagine their code for checking for bad files is bad, and it resets everyone.

did any of you purchase any MP packs with microsoft points after performing the fix, and if so could you approximate the amount you spent. I was thinking that if Bioware is using Resante's work to fix their game, then Resante should be paid for any profits that they made from people who would have been otherwise unable to make those purchases.

Edit: also post if you purchased any paid dlc for the game

I purchased Leviathan way after using resante's fix.

might get me back in the game (well that or a couple ultra rares maxed).  Of course that would be after I am done with Borderlands 2, which is definitely GOTY material.

I finally got around to testing the patch today and it would appear that the achievement progress has NOT reset itself. The numbers under the achievements are exactly how I left them and even my Galactic Readiness was at 99. No way of knowing whether they will ping until I actually get around to finishing, but here's hoping.

was your game broken until you installed the patch?  an easy way to check if it works like Resante's fix would be to see if you still have your bonus powers in SP.

Edit: And to answer your question fully, yes, my game had been broken from mid-May to earlier tonight.

Good, they need to edit their post if their fix DOESN'T erase the achievement progress. They made it sound like they didn't fix this properly but it sounds like perhaps they did. We'll see as more people check in.

Now even though I've no longer got the 360; I won't feel guilty about picking up BF3 or the ME compilation when it comes out.

Well I am suprised. 7 months later games fixed. But now I don't care becouse borderlands is better.... But will be nice to have the option of playing it. But I'm seriously not buying your dlc til its on sale. I spent extra for your "limited edition" and you guys repayed me with 7 months of not being able to play. I refuse. Hey guys, I'm back after a few days. Been playing other games, but only NOW I read the patch notes from Priestly. Black hole FINALLY fixed?? But when I read it, it looks like it does EXACTLY what resantes method did. Since it said current achievements will be reset...

Wow lol. How late. oh well. Look forward to the new MP DLC. I love Collectors!

EDIT- looks like it wasn't the Resante method.  The bonus powers are still in SP.  Whew.
