I can confirm that the patch does not re-break the game,if you used Resante's fix (At least I can play the game, and have not lost my bonus powers)

Well damn Resante, your efforts have finally paid off. Good job my brother. As for BioWare --- you ought to be ashamed of your actions, but as a funny note, notice we finally got a fix after those two clowns that were guiding bio ware are now gone? Imagine that. After 7 months... well --- Ok. I did agree that when they did eventually fix it I would tone down - Thank you for finally fixing this terrible problem, though your timing is outraegeous, at least you still had some form of an ear towards this. I don't think it would have been done unless we put your entire body to the fire though. I shall be watching how they handle Dragon Age 3.

it wasn't supposed to, if it had it would have been nice.  But I didn't expect it to even work for the BSOD because it is Bioware making it, and their track record with this game is not very good.

It is really a shame it took this long, ME3 had the potential to be the best in the series.

I am going to actively try to avoid anything related to EA until they make a new Road Rash. Not some XBL / 3Ds garbage - a real Road Rash w/ NFS graphics and officially licensed bikes. Oh, and it has to have the original music from the 1st and 2nd Genesis titles and intermissions like the old ones. Am I delusional? Yes. But I'm serious.

So, just because there are a ton of posts on this, I haven't been able to read everything. I don't know if you would call my glitch the Black Hole Glitch persay, but I am having similar symptoms. Instead of my screen going black, it just has an infinite loading splash screen with Earth in the background. Not the Earth image you can press start on, the Earth image that most people see before the screen goes black. I've tried Resante's fix, and unfortunately it did not work :crying:. Also downloaded the patch, still to no avail. Not sure what to do about this one, but I really want to get back to the single player! I haven't gotten to play any of the DLC yet, nor have I got to play on Insanity. Has anyone else had the Black Hole Glitch minus the black hole?

Good, they need to edit their post if their fix DOESN'T erase the achievement progress. They made it sound like they didn't fix this properly but it sounds like perhaps they did. We'll see as more people check in.

I finished the Insanity playthrough I started back in May tonight and I can confirm that achievement progress on my machine remains untouched from where it was when I black holed.  Insanity and Unrelenting both pinged and my kills continue to climb toward 5000.  I did experience a particularly gnarly glitch which messed up the end cinematic beyond recognition.  I take it this is a known bug?

Anyway, from what I'm reading here, the effects of the patch would appear to be inconsistent.  Even with BW's own description of it, as you say.

Very interesting update I have on my issue. At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, I will share it. I've been very busy lately so I haven't had a ton of time to try a bunch of things, but finally had time to try some things out today. I unplugged my HDD from my own Xbox and the game still freezes at the splash screen. Absolutely baffling to me! I took the disc into the living room to use my other Xbox, and it proceeds to the menu just fine, even logged into my gamertag. However, when I would try to do anything from there, the game would eventually get stuck in another infinite loading screen. Finally, I tried my roommate's slim, proceeding only to install the disc this time. I received the dirty disc error at 45%, just like I did with my own console. I concluded that trying the game on his console would only yield the same results as one of the other consoles. Going to try one of my buddy's discs tonight and see if that works. I was so focused on trying to fix the issue via profile, I never did try the basic troubleshooting. Will post another update on the new disc later on.

Nah, ME2 was and is still the best in trilogy, for me at least.  One of my top ten games of time in fact.  ME3 had too many controversies and design changes that were for the worse IMO.  Side missions for example, lack of hub worlds. etc.

As demonstrated here. The abrupt cessation of communcation is as disturbing as the time it took. I don't care how easy it is if I can't play the game I paid for. Had we not come up with our own way of fixing it this would have been much worse.

When you buy Mass Effect 4 for Xbox there will be a 25% chance you're purchasing an empty case. Special Promotion.

no, but if you want the real ending then you will.  artistic integrity isn't free after all.

Crikey... I think I must be dreaming... are you guys saying that the BSOD problem has finally been fixed for some people? Wow!

You know, the only thing that really peed me off about this problem is the lack of communication from Bioware. THAT is what really drove me nuts and completely killed my love for the series.I know I could fix the problem myself but repeatedly editing my Xbox profile was worrying and annoying at the same time which was why I stopped fixing it after the fourth black hole.

Still, maybe I will do a run through and see the new ending now and get the new DLC stuff this weekend.

The BSOD didn't destroy my love of the series (though it has been substantially reduced) it has destroyed my faith in Bioware. After all people with broken games aren't even worth talking to according to them.

So an official fix has been released 6months after the fault occured and as many months since Resante found a fix(which it seems  they essentially copied)

I think a little someone should apply for a job, or at the very least get some free N7 Swag

they didn't copy the community fix (nothing was reset).  they seem to have found a better way, but we still have resante fo thank for the six months of play before they fixed it.
