Any more news? I recently beat I Am Alive. That was real depressing. Didn't help me feel any better lol.

I just got Resident Evil and it sucks.  I'm now becoming concerned that this issue is going to be very difficult to fix. They even admit that they had no repro steps before Resante showed them whats up. But to QA's credit, what Resante did is not something that QA normally knows about. What other game has this ever occured on!?

On the 360...none I know about.

And yah we'll see.  Figure cert. takes a minimum of 2 weeks after a fix is even made.

Then you have what...one issue is it a standalone patch or do they wait to bundle it

And/Or

Do they have to interact with MS to create a fix.

Though I'm not really a tech guy....I can see either of those postonging a fix being released for awhile.

The Grissom patch was expedited. we deserve the same. Its far worse.

Italians should just go and enjoy their game already, celebrate, eat some rigatoni.

I on the other hand won't stop coming here until this dark matter is resolved.

We are still investigating this - We have received a very large amount of support from BSN users but are looking for some different information now. If you could take the time to send me the following information it would be greatly appreciated (on top of what has already been requested):

- What were you doing in the last play session before the crash (MP, SP, level, etc.)?
- Did you crash or make a save during your last play session?
- Do you recall any odd behavior during your last play session (temporary errors, anything out of place/acting weird)?

Thanks!

Last play was many hours of Multiplayer
It crashed on me during multiplayer, then did multiple freezes. turned off. never worked again.

It happened with GOW3.  Not sure if it's exactly the same, but when I went to google this problem, that title kept popping up.

Sweet thanks. Knowing my luck in life, ill regret doing it. The worse case always happens to me. Thing is, resante has identified the issue and a workaround. If the work around is supported and facilitated by bioware and Ms, then that's a start.

As others have said, they know the symptom they just need to find the cause. I would expect that's the easy part. Use the good old compiler debugger and the memory watch, while stepping through the code. Resante has done the hard part

AGAIN THANK YOU RESANTE:innocent:

Lol no problem bro, do it at your own risk though... I haven't had time to get any achievements using this workaround so I don't know what will happen when you go online. If I get time this weekend I may test it, but as of right now I am content not playing the game.

Lol they think the problem is on the PC all because the dev asked for our Origin info.

Did anyone else notice the line "
For now you'll just have to play it safe and play soft...because playing too hard just might break the game "

Props to all the hard playing gamers that got this.

lol they told me too much video games was bad for me, but they didnt say it was bad for the game. Guess i should have gone outside at one point

I just thought about it for a little while and realized whatever was causing the problem had to meet these criteria

1) Specific to each profile
2) Specific to Mass Effect 3
2) Stored on the local system

In the past I had backed up my hdd and gamesaves to my pc so I knew the basic layout of the hdd. It wasn't too difficult to track down and I'm sure BW would have figured it out eventually once they could reproduce it. Would they have tried messing with the profile? Probably not. Unless you were having the issue or knew exactly what the contents of the file should be, you wouldn't really know if deleting the file fixed anything.

It wasn't another Gamertag. It was a extensive process that required file editing software and uploading your gamertag to you computer and manually rewriting any corrupted files. It was too much work for me, but Resante put in the time. Props.

Ahhh, now I see... hacking your profile which actually could result in you getting your gamertag banned completely... No thanks.

And not just that... Online (which is what I was actually wanting to play) is totally out of the question...

***Problems***
I connected to Xbox Live and the game downloaded the 4
MB update. I then got the message that I had played the game on a
different console and it immediately locked up. I believe BW checks the
contents of the .gpd file or attempts to write values to it right after
the omni-tool scene, because after the first lockup I deleted the .gpd
file again, disconnected from the Internet and was able to play again
(game creates a new .gpd). I connected the ethernet cable, rebooted the
xbox, and got the dreaded black screen right after the omni-tool scene.
Unfortunately this means MP is still out of the question right now. I
will send all of this info to Bioware, I like to hope that if I figured
this out in one night they certainly already had it figured out and are
working on finding out what their game is doing to this .gpd file. I
will keep investigating myself. If anyone else wants to attempt this,
let us know if you're successful.

At least we know it is Bioware's faulty gpd file that is the cause... They REALLY should hotfix this asap.

Edit: .... and thanks for tracking down the faulty file, Resante. It's definitely the symptom which is stopping the game working. The cause is the thing that broke the file. Bioware now have to fix the game so that it doesn't repeat the problem and keep trashing the gpd file every time you link to EA. In the meantime my damned GaW ratings are going to drop just when I was getting ready to do my final run again.

I wonder who is the root cause of this problem... Bioware, EA or Microsoft?

It could be all three. EA and their messed up online pass/authentication, BW's code, and Microsoft servers.

Like Resantes said, the clues point directly to our GT's, and something is wrong when the game reads its you after starting up ME3. As its proven that the game works not signed in or with a unaffected GT.

Also like many here, i remember being inside MP before shutting down, Then when I restarted the game, I got the black screen.

I'm lvl 60 and beat the game offline on a second playthrough set on insanity(which was way to easy compared to ME2). That just shows how long this has been in effect. For some reason Jack is always dead on all my playthroughs.

Jack is dead by default. You have to import a ME2 file with her alive.

By default, I think only Miranda, Jacob, and Mordin are alive.

**opinion alert**

I'm going with EA and Microsoft. EA beacuse I'm sure they rushed rushed rushed bioware and they seem so have odd issues with there servers (Bad company 2, BF3, etc etc).  Microsoft due the the weird patching rules and the delay with a fix going live? I would of gotten this for PC but I don't like that orgin client . I love bioware games to much for it to be them!

Non the less I hope it gets fixed soon as I wanted to play some co-op tonight with friends :(

Ah four player co-op that is more than just Horde mode.

And I can actually play it.

Much as I love ME, that's two things ORC has over it.

I'm just really debating returning ME, because I got the Collector's Edition...

If its a CE, keep it.

When you trade in, (GameStop in my case) you only get credit for the base game disc, and its not worth very much depending on age and popularity. Better to keep you CE package complete with the steel case and all the extras in the nicer box.

If you had standard then yeah I would trade it in. The CE is will be rare as time goes on.

How much does it matter that I've already used all the codes for costumes, the DLC, and avatar items?

You're in the US right?  Well based on GameStop's current data, For the the FIRST 30 days of release, ME3 is gonna get you $30, then it will drop to $25.

Trust me, just keep you games, I used to trade in alot before, then I REGRET it and wish I had it, then end up BUYING it again later.  Using more money.

Here:
http://www.cheapassg....php?do=tradein - Search for Mass Effect in bar

http://www.gamestop....ection/trade-in  - GameStop current promotion. $30 ME3.
