Well something has changed... I found out which parts of the .gpd were causing the crash then deleted just those parts. Able to sign in to Live and said F it I'll sign in to EA servers. Signed in, no crash... Launched multiplayer, see the Operation Fortress info, all my MP stuff appears intact... about to analyze the current gpd and see if anything is different.

Unfortunatly I am now hit with the achievement progress reset bug. I am not quite sure yet what the 3 areas I removed really contained but 2 of them are now different than they were before. 1 is slightly different and one is completely different. Dunno if the progress is in this section but it was a risk I was willing to take. Looking at that section in a hex editor, though, it contains info about my multiplayer class. All my MP stuff was intact, from weapons to credits though, so BW has that part.

I honestly don't know that this would have worked if BW hadn't changed something, so it seems they are in fact working on it.

I've just made a group specifically for us peeps who are stuck at the black screen off death. I will be passing off the leadership to Resante when he joins. I think JustinSaneV2 deserves to be officer as well as he has compiled the list of all who have contributed to this thread...
I've called it The Mass Effect 3 Black Hole Group... but perhaps ME3 Dark Matter Group would be better heh. Join up if you are suffering this bug.

Joined. Nice artwork too. You made the font yourself?
And yeah I'm still getting the BSOD.

Hey Resante,
Used your steps to delete the .gpd file from the gamertag, and everything occurred as you described in your original post. Worked fine offline, connected it and got the same "on another console" error you reported, and it locked up in the same BSOD place. Could you provide more detail on how you edited the .gpd and the parts you deleted. I'll give it a shot, and see if it has any further results.

In response to why deleting the gpd from the file doesn't work, I believe that when the game provides the "other console" error, the game connects to xbox live and downloads what was essentially a "restore point" from when you last connected. Hence, the issue is still present when reconnecting to XBL.
So it definitely seems that only certain parts of the .gpd get corrupted. As well, yes, achievement progress is reset (had over 3000 kills going, but I actually was expecting this issue to pop up when the game was working again).

You do the hack up that Resante posted somewhere in here and you're now fully back in action except your accumulation towards acheivments is re-started?
Your back to being fully online?

When you say achievement prog is reset, you mean just in game right?
And is this permanent once you do it? cuz I had over 3000 kills, I don't wanna start at 0 again..

I'd hate for anyone to lose their progress but for me personally I'd rather just play the darn game. ALL achievement progress gets reset. Kills, levels toward achievements (not the levels themselves), gun upgrade progress, probe dispatch counts, anythjng you have to complete a certain amt of... say goodbye to it. I got most of these achievements already and plan on playing a second playthrough on Insanity anyway so this isn't a big deal to me.

This is actually a new hack-up , instead of deleting the gpd in its entirety you have to remove specific parts of it and those parts get recreated when you go online.

Yes you will start at 0 kills... thing the people in the achievement progress reset thread had happen to them. I don't feel like messing with the gpd any further, to me its worth it to start playing the thing again.

Anyway, if you are willing to attempt it, Resante's method is solid and easy to follow. If anyone is overly timid, I have not had any problems with XBL. I have messed with the ME2 saves before this to bypass planet scanning, and never had any problems.

So in theory, with a little more experimentation, you can improve this gpd method and preserve achievement progress somehow? You think its possible?
Is it possible? Maybe. The problem is you'd have to hex edit one or possibly 2 files that have no clear indicator of if this information is in them and if so... where it is and what values to change. The only intelligible thing in any of them was the name of the multiplayer class I was playing. I definitely didnt want to risk changing anything values that might screw up my MP. There has to be a brave / knowledgable soul out there who wants to try
