All this work that Resante has done points to one conclusion... The profile was probably updating when we turn our 360's off. Because the profile doesn't trigger the spinning disc icon that a savegame does we didn't know it occurred. Bet you that's what happened.

And I bet you any money that the culprit is something like the Veteran (5000 kills) achievement.

To stop this happening to others I wonder if we should suggest hitting the guide button and going to the dashboard before turning off the Xbox... or at the minimum going right back to the Main Menu of ME3.

Another side effect I noticed is that the settings reset back to default (subtitles were turned off, difficulty was on Normal etc.)

^^ it shouldn't, but then again the only thing I've heard about people getting banned for are modded consoles. This isn't giving any unwarranted achievements or items, but proceed at your own risk. I considered it thoroughly.

But if I load one of my save files, will my settings be restored?  Like my files were on insanity, subtitles on etc.

So this Community Fix... it lets you pick up campaign saves in progress still, right? But if you have, say, a level 10 Krogan in multiplayer, everybody is reverted to one and you lose any extra characters you unlocked.

That's the jist of it? Well done though for as far as you've gotten. I know it's bad, but I'm sort of glad a computer whiz got this issue too.

Is this fix something I can do on my grandmother's 10 year old computer? And will it make it so I can't get the achievements? (I don't really care about achievements.

But more importantly, will I lose my Quarian Infiltrator from doing this?

And I don't think you'll lose the Quarian. You'll only lose that if you switch to another gamertag.

No you still have that level 10 Krogan with all of the weapons, items, etc you had before. The only thing you lose is your progress toward achievements, like "Reach level 15 in multiplayer or level 50 in single-player." that counter would be back to 0/15 and 0/50 instead of 10/15 for multiplayer and whatever your single player rank/50.

So the 'level 20 or level 60 in single player' deal isn't just' you hit 20/60, ding!'? It's a counter that you can lose progress on? Interesting, although since you're bound to get 20 on another character eventually regardless it's hardly an issue.

ty for the fix but i don't know anything about technology so I'm afraid ill just mess things up. I'll just wait until bioware fixes the problem. i just started playing through the old Mass effect games so hopefully by the time I'm done with one and two the bug will be fixed.

....this is the Xbox tech support forum, lol.  I'm just checking this forum on PC.  My game is on Xbox.

At first I was getting the black screen just after the Bioware logo (only on disk 2) then after about 3 rounds of that it changed to an Unrecognizable Disk error at startup of disk 2.

I deleted corrupted avatar data and that did not help.  I tried using a different gamertag but that did not work.
Upon contacting EA they told me it was likely that my save file had been corrupted and suggested I delete all of the game files off of my drive.  That did work to a degree as once I did that disk 2 worked (and installed) fine but I had to start the game over.  Sucks but at least I had only invested a few hours at this point.

But now it is freezing in the middle of Eden Prime mission just after you see the first video to get the stasis code.
