Back when I could actually play I was mad about the face bug too. I still played after trying to duplicate what I had. Now im just in the black hole

well, it seem that i got past the bug, the only thing i did was to delete the xbox cache, move my profile to my usb, put the game and i got past the BSOD, also asked me again to login with my ea account, (supose Bioware and EA are doing their part i hope) too bad that i'm at work, so i can't play right now but i hope that when i return play some MP

I can see this being more difficult to fix properly than the Grissom bug, if that bug is just an issue with files on the disc and not the gpd. In our situation they have to figure out what is bad in the affected parts of the gpd, what caused the bad data, figure out how to fix the sections without removing the whole thing and losing your progress like we did, test it, determine who all is affected or make a blanket fix for everyone, somehow get the bad file off your system... all a pain in the rear.

To those wondering about getting banned, I don't see it. The only parts of the file that appears in your XBL profile are the achievements, which we're not changing. The .gpd has a section where it lists all achievements, and each one shows the icon of the achievement, whether you unlocked it, and if so what date / time and if you were online or offline when it happened. I don't see how you can get banned for editing the bad parts of it because think about it... if you were offline and got an achievement the file gets changed then, right?  When you go online the file is sent to MS and the profile gets saved in their systems. They don't give a rat's ass about the ME3 specific stuff. I don't see how they could even determine it was you changing it and not the game itself.

If you edit the file, BW writes to it, whatever... that version is what gets sent to MS servers. This appears to be why it broke... bad file gets on system, gets uploaded to MS at some point, you're playing and the game attempts to read bad sections of gpd, freeze. Reboot and you're in the black hole. Redownload profile and you're still blacked out. I think BW will create a patch that runs before the game loads, checks some data in the .gpd to see if it has the bad data markers and if so, fixes it and you're on your way.

What everyone here is saying makes sense... game freezing after passing achievement counter milestones, that sort of thing. I believe we got hit with a more severe version of whatever caused the achievement progress reset bug since the part of the gpd that has that info in it is also what causes the black hole. I would have thought  that that the acheivement progress was in the gamesaves but in retrospect that wouldn't make sense because it doesn't use those in MP. More than coincidence IMO.

I'm playing Dark Souls. I've already beaten it twice but... Spring Break starts this weekend. I might just do the manual-fix if we continue to have no word from Bioware (extremely disappointing, by the way).

Tis a bummer! We had one day where we were getting talked to. Now nothing, hah.

They have to as not everybody checks the BioWare forums and I'm sure Microsoft doesn't appreciate people toying around with files on their hard drives.

Just got another reply for the e-mail ticket. It thanked me for contacting EA support and asked what game and system i was contacting them about and to detail the problem. Seriously. They hit 'reset' on me!

My prediction, we won't get a response from bioware until Friday before they go home just saying something generic about how they are aware of the problem and working hard on fixing it. In the mean time the mp packs will expire forever for all of us and the new mp event will be missed evade it won't still be fixed. After the weekend they will release a statement saying that next weekend there will be another mp event because of 2 successful ones in a row and that the team is currently working on a new ending via dlc. We will all continue to ****** an moan and be ignored until at the end I April w/o another update when they release the dlc ending (which they will expect us to pay for) and if the dlc doesn't have the patch we need attached after it comes out is when they will really devote anyone specific to our situation. In which case I expect to see maybe 1 or 2 bioware people posting here regularly with updates.

Final assumption, I won't be able to play mass effect 3 until mid may after everyone else finishes the dlc ending ( which they will all **** about how they had to pay for it)

I've grown increasingly pessimistic during this process. Especially because they seem to be completely ignoring us

Don't bother, I gave up on those people long ago.  Maybe later I'll post a transcript of my conversations with them from the time I was pissed off.  And kept getting generic responses with bad grammar as usual lol.

Go do the fix already.  It will let out all your built up frustration and steam! Especially for an Elcor like you.

I'll be optimistic tho:  That BW hasn't posted anything new since last time because they're still working on a fix as we speak.  I mean thats why Thomas Abram PM'd most of us to send him more info and circumstances before the black hole.

I really don't like that the work around loses all of the achievement progress. I saw something somewhere else that made me think it might be possible to find that information so I will see what I can come up with.

First step delete your saves

Second step buy a new gamer tag

If that deosn't work we'll get back to you in 2-3 weeks time
