So...you're saying that repeatedly trying to start up the game actually got you past the startup screen? I'm sure I tried about 10 times, but just concluded that it wasn't going to work. Tempted to try the stubborn approach, but all that switching on and off can't be good for the console.
It got me there eventually but the damage to the console is an issue I didnt think about at the time. I tended to play for long sessions and keep the game on when doing something else as a workaround.
Hopefully the xbox doesnt die as a result, that would be the final insult.
One other thing, after I finished the game i went back and registered the game through my origin account on the pc.The game fired up fine first time but crashed in game, I fired it up again and it went through the startup fine. Havent been back again to see if that is always the case, will test that though and post later.

There is no way that works. The day I got the BSOD I restarted my Xbox 20 plus times in desperation to no avail
It definitely worked for me, but from the posts of others, people seem to be having different experiences. Mine locked up at different points in the startup process, one time it only took 5 goes to start, so there was simply no way to predict the result. Sorry to hear it didnt work for you, but I can only report my experience, and in fact was surprised it happened that way based on the posts here.
No way am I going back to the game until its fixed though, so Im still in the same boat as everone else. Will check the game post registration to see what happens, but the thought of hitting another bsod doesnt inspire at the moment.

Someone save our ship!! "This is the SSV We-wanna-play-our-product! We've been hit by an unknown hole!!"
"Shepard! Will Bioware QA save us in time??"
"The BW people won't abandon us..." "Jokers still in the cockpit! He's not leaving, and neither will I"
"Ash, go. NOW.."
*Topic gets blown up by Collectors, then gets sucked into BLACK HOLE, and forgotten by everyone...*

I know there are only about 100 of us here, but our products which we bought with our money do not work. Fix this now. It's not a question of entitlement; it's simple ethics.

This approach I think will let you play multiplayer and "share" combat readiness with your other, broken gamertag.
1. I created a new gamertag on my console.
2. I successfully imported my ME1 save into my new gamertag. I just copied the autosave from the original gamertag hard drive to USB, then signed into new gamertag and copied file back from the USB to the hard drive. You cant import the "complete game" save so I imported the autosave before the final battle, did that and it created a new "complete game" which now works on the new gamertag. I had ME as a download under my original gamertag and it worked under the new gamertag BTW.
3. I successfully imported this new ME1 complete-save into ME2.
Now the way the online pass seems to work is that it looks like you can share the same, original EA account login with your original gamertag. This way you dont have to pay for a pass again, and can download the cerberus network items freely (I did this from within the ME2 game itself) which includes zaeed, firewalker and a bunch of other weapons and armors. It does NOT let you access paid DLC shadowbroker, overlord or kasumi so I had to pay for kasumi download (I def want her in ME3 and I think if you dont get her in ME2, she wont be in ME3). I dont care about overlord or shadowbroker as I have them on the other gamertag and I dont need them for my ME3 import save.
Now, I also tried ME3 with the new gamertag but linking to the same EA account as my original, ME3-broken gamertag. To my surprise this works, and I dont think I needed to make a new online pass - I can access multiplayer from the menu, and see my characters but when I try to start a game it says lack of xbox live privilege (new gamertag is silver, I intend using "1 month free" cards when I want to play multiplayer. or use the 2 months for $2 deal shown on the home page).
I checked my ea/bioware profile and it now shows both my original gamertag and my new gamertag as linked so bioware already accounted for multiple gamertags per account.
Under my new gamertag, all my multiplayer characters are gone/reset (all progress gone). However, galactic readiness was 70% and therefore inherited from my other gamertag which makes sense as its using the same linked EA profile.
So I am planning to finish ME2, and then import into ME3 under the new gamertag. I THINK the online pass works fine and the only DLC I need to pay for is From Ashes. Total cost for me would be for kasumi and for From Ashes I think, thats acceptable for me given I got hundreds of hours of gameplay from ME1 and ME2 - its probably NOT acceptable for many other people though, but posted my results for anyone interested anyway

Might be the dirty disc issue you have going by the original post you made.

An excellent start. Now can we get Kotaku or the Escapist in on the act?

I have tipped them numerous times via comments in other news posts, tips in their #tips forum, and via email.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if there was any update on when we can expect this bug to get fixed. I'm sure it's somewhere in the thread, but i haven't been following so if someone knows that'd be a great help.

My Birthday is the 11th. It would be a sick Birthday present from Bioware/EA if they let me play on my Birthday!
Abram was the only one to contact us so far. I'll assume he's been busy this whole time finaliazing a fix.
Why not just do the home fix like half of us already did? I've been playing ever since lol. Beat the game on insanity finally. Enjoyed the fight. whew.

This is bull. It just happened to me yesterday. Does anybody know when a fix is going to be out? Does anyone know what the compensation will be? I tried clearing the cache and that did not work.
As of now, there is no good idea of what's going to happen with compensation and repair. What we know is that they are aware of the issue and are looking into fixing it. There is a way to fix the error by editing some files in your profile. We'll just have to wait and see when they find out how to fix it.
