Resante- regarding achievements- Was your progress reset for the "Unwavering" one? or if you haven't attempted those yet IIRC, everything else was reset for you right? Whether you got it before the bug or not. You know, melee kills, do missions etc.

Yup, anything with a counter got reset. Its not too bad though, I have all of the counter achievements except for the overload and Insanity ones, which I haven't attempted yet. I am going to wait until there is a real fix for this before I start my Insanity playthrough.

Well we (about 8 of us) were tired of waiting and got a refund. I'm in utter shock that BioEAre doesn't care about there customers/fans. I know losing 8 people means anything to a big company but we just had to cut our ties.

I wish everyone here that WANTS to play all the luck and I hope you will be able to actually play some day. As for you BioWare... well doesn't matter because you don't read these things anyways.

If BioWare doesn't have this fixed (or announce a fix has been submitted for certification) by the time this thread reaches the age of 31 days then I will start demanding a refund from EA.  This is absolutely ridiculous.  Most of my friends have already moved on from Mass Effect 3 so I won't get to enjoy time with them in multiplayer.  Thanks EA/BioWare.

It definitely worked for me, but from the posts of others, people seem to be having different experiences. Mine locked up at different points in the startup process, one time it only took 5 goes to start, so there was simply no way to predict the result. Sorry to hear it didnt work for you, but I can only report my experience, and in fact was surprised it happened that way based on the posts here.

No way am I going back to the game until its fixed though, so Im still in the same boat as everone else. Will check the game post registration to see what happens, but the thought of hitting another bsod doesnt inspire at the moment.

Thanks to Bushido and Resante for working on this thread and for the workaround. Just joined the group in the hope we'll see a fix.

Also want to confirm I am still getting the bsod most attempts to start the game, it took 11 tries to get it started yesterday....and for the record this is not a disc error. Like most others here, I exchanged the first disc I bought.

Just have to wait and see - but am sure Resante's identification of the issue will help.

Yeah I was doing my SP, I earned eveything now after the fix, but only one seems to be stuck, Unwavering, which has a counter of 27 SP missions to do on Insanity.  Everything has been going fine.  But now its stuck on 26/27!
Either Im missing ONE mission since I started playing after the fix, or its bugged.  But thats because I was in the middle of a Insane playthough when I got BSOD.

So in your case, Its safe to start Insanity from the very beginning since you told me you never made one yet.

So did you do the fix on yours yet?  I haven't had the screen since I did mine on the 24th.  But Resante said he got a black screen again recently I think...

And while I have.. experimented with some mod/hacky wacky stuff in the past...(on a old GT) I stopped that type altogether after things didn't go so well... (salarian wink!) Wrex caught my sabotage! See? lol 

Resante is the one who found a real, legit, and justified use by giving us this CURE, while BW is silent... Time will tell!  I want an official patch myself. Just like them Italians lol =p

Not trying the fix yet - will see what comes out of PAX this weekend first. Happy to have a shot at the fix once they sort out the other issues with the game. Done plenty of modding with other games, but this one is some serious stuff under the xbox hood - still, who dares wins and all that. Will try it if BW fail to answer us.

Still think its great you managed to isolate the issue, or at least narrow it down to something that BW can run with. Even if BW don't fix, the efforts here give us a chance.

I loaded up the game last night and it gave me that "you played on a different console" line (which I hadn't, but it was an improvement on just getting the black screen!) then restarted, and now my game appears to be working perfectly (though it reset my progress for the Lost and Found achievement). ME2 works for my boyfriend too!

This is what we need to know from a mod

-How far along are they in looking for a fix
-What's the main obstacle they face in creating one
-Do they plan on waiting to bundle in with other fixes in a patch...thus delaying it's deployment some time
-Do they really thing that anyone with this problem will be buying more games made by Bioware if they just don't say anything. I men do they seriously think that in this day and age. Keeping the customer ignorant and in the dark worked in tech 15 years ago sure. Now...grow up, grab your balls and let us know exactly what's going on.

I can promis you that Mass Effect 3 will be my last BioWare game if this issue isn't resolved by the time I hit the 31 day mark and if we aren't compensated for all the N7 challenges that we've missed because of this.

 Because Bioware refuses to acknowledge this problem, I spent two hours on the phone with Xbox tech support yesterday. Neither of us knew such a problem existed, and he ended up telling me I had to reformat my hard drive. I lost every single game save I had and still not fixed. Then I found this thread, I will be demanding a refund for this game. I don't understand how they can't admit to a problem that has been talked about on their forums for 26 days

^^ I don't get the logic that would make them think that formatting the hard drive would fix this. Did they do ANY real troubleshooting with you? I would hope that the Xbox tech support team would know more than we random internet users know about how their systems work. The only time had to call them was for a RROD Xbox and I could tell the guy was reading straight off a script.

Well I just private messaged every moderator on the bottom whose name is in bold with the same message: "Our thread on the technical support for xbox forum has reached 55 pages, is almost always at the top of the boards and has been active for 26 days now.

It has been at least 26 days since some of us have been completely unable to play this game. People complained about the grissom academy glitch and it got fixed even though they could play every other mission besides that one. people complained about the ending and now they are getting a new one. well I haven't even been able to see the ending. I have only recruited 4 team members before the game crashed and locked me out for good. It took one of the members of the forum to find a homebrew fix within days but still nothing from bioware. I have been a very loyal and diehard fan giving hundreds of my dollars to bioware over the years to play their great games but this is unacceptable. I just want to play my game and the complete lack of even acknowledgment is insulting. We have had I believe a total of 3 posts from bioware employees, none of which give us any information while they posted daily in the grissom thread.

We just want to play, and we just want an update on how long until we can."

I'll report back with any responses but if I suddenly disappear they prob didn't take kindly to my message and got banned. but it was at least worth it to make them look at our problem

 Well I expressed my frustration to the Mass Effect Twitter and of course I'm delivered the usual copy/paste of "we'll pass your concerns on to the devs".  I'm honestly just about ready to say I no longer care about this game, sell it on Craigslist, read the rest of the plot on Wikipedia, and buy a couple of older games that are on sale this week (namely Assassin's Creed Revelations for $20 at BB/GameStop).

Revalations was a good game, although I think it was a bit short compared to the other AC games.

As soon as I saw those troops I thought wow they look like Cerberus. The original was watchable only because of Arnold. They should have remade the Running Man instead.

I agree, its either remake, remake in 3D, shoddy sequel for a money grab, or so derivative I can tell the plot and outcome inside of 5 minutes. That said, I will be accompanying my wife to see Titanic 3D this weekend
