Still no reply from EA. This is getting ridiculous, we want answers.

Just got off the phone with EA customer support and they acknowledged that there may be an issue with the gamertag. Referred me to Microsoft's customer support...

Yeah, that's not going to do anything. MS will check that your profile works...and it will, because likely, just like me and most everyone else here, it does work fine with every other game.

This is an EA/Bioware issue, and the fact that they haven't answered the thread and haven't given anyone a straight answer simply means they don't have a clue what's going on or how to fix it right now.

Hate to say it but given how old this thread is, with no useful responses or anything, might not be a bad idea to just trade it in

Got a response from EA this morning giving pretty generic advice - recalibrate your controller, clear the cache, delete your save file (based on that not working for others, I'm not just going to give up my 25 hour save!). No indication that it's a glitch they're working on, so I really don't know what to do at this point.

i got the suggestion to change my gamertag from EA

though I don't see how changing the name would help, plus that's 10 bucks so

Reekus, nothing the bottom of the barrel EA "tech support" suggests fixes this issue. Before contacting them I had already tried almost everything they suggested I try. The one thing I had forgotten was resetting the date, which didn't work anyway. When that doesn't work, they "escalate" your complaint to the "higher department," and by that I mean it just gets shelved and forgotten.

Case in point:
I filed my Support claim March 10th 2012, when the person who first contacted me (Screen name: Akshun) couldn't help he escalated my issue to the "higher department" and told me I would have a response from them in 24-48 hours. Well as you can guess it's now 48 hours PAST THEIR OWN 48 hour DEADLINE. Still no word from them, nothing at all. Repeated attempts to contact them again have not succeeded.

Secondly, as I'm sure you already know, posting on this forum has gotten us nothing either. As far as I can tell this problem only seems to be growing, why is it still being ignored?

I'm actually shocked.
It seems no-one is even looking at this.

Everyone Post what they're using.

Xbox: Slim Xbox 360 - Halo: Reach Edition
Game Version: North American (NTSC)
Edition: N7
Kinect: No
DLC: Pre-order + N7 content + From Ashes
XBL: Yes, always up to date

First encountered the freeze when loading from the main menu into the multiplayer menu.  After reboot it froze in the main menu, subsequent attempts never got to the "Press Start" screen.  Very rarely will the "Press Start" show, when it does it will immediately freeze.  The game will load up if I am not signed into my account, but will instantly freeze upon signing into my account.  This occurs on any Xbox.

Things I have tried to remedy this situation:

  • Clearing the Cache
  • Reseting the Date
  • Changing the Resolution (all resolutions tried)
  • Changing the color scheme (all schemes tried)
  • Deleting Saved games
  • Deleting the corrupted ME3 avatar items
  • Booting the game then signing into my profile
  • Booting game w/o update installed
  • Deleting the From Ashes DLC
  • Deleting all ME3 DLC
  • Formating the Xbox 360's internal HDD
  • "Motivating" it by screaming obscenities at it

Xbox: Premium with 60GB hard drive (Xbox 360 Pro in the US according to Wikipedia)
Game Version: European
Edition: N7
Kinect: Nope
DLC: Collector's Edition DLC
XBL: Up to date

The usual details - it doesn't work regardless of whether or not I am connected to the internet and it works perfectly when another profile is signed in (then freezes as soon as I switch to my own). Saved and quit on Saturday night at the beginning of the Geth Dreadnought mission and it magically hasn't worked since I tried to play on Sunday evening. I've spent the past few days feeling insanely jealous of my friends, who have had no trouble with the game whatsoever.

Oh it's definetly on their end.  Which sucks when it doesn't seem they are looking at it.  When you talk to CS they've no idea what you are talking about so.

using my own profil or my girlfriend one wont change anything. the only way for me to make it work is using No profil when creating new game (without ability to save)
So is this really gamertag related? not sure now.
im about to go trade it in...i paid 70$ and now i will get 35 for it. Thats so disapointing.
It might change my perception forever toward video game and its evil industry

That's weird, I can get it to play on my gf's profile offline.

Is your gf's profile linked to Galatic Awareness at all?

I have been on a collective 2 1/2 hrs of live chat and telephone tech support for the last 2 days and I believe I have an answer to our problem (or at least the cause)  It is with the gamer profile communicating with the game.  Heres why I think that, then how I came to this conclusion.

The game will load signed out of my profile and will boot and play signed into another profile.  When attempting to sign in on the "press start" screen the sign in freezes as well.

Its not a problem with your Xbox Live account, EA account, disc, system, console, servers, updates or gamesaves.

Heres what I have done so far to support my claim:

Removed the hard drive (was able to boot the game create a new profile using a flash drive as memory and play the game)
un-install the game
re-install the game
clear cashe 6 times in a row
clear cashe about 20 other times
attempt to launch w/o updating
attempt to launch just after updating
deleted gamer profile (profole only not with items)
recovered profile
transfered gamesaves to flash drive
deleted online pass
deleted all save date on hard drive
moved gamesave to cloud
moved gamesave to flash drive
disconnected from live
launched game signed out and attempeted to sign in on "press start" screen
chached system date/time
checked hard drive space
checked hard drive for corrupted files
registered my game on the bioware website
registered my xbox with microsoft
exchanged the game for a new copy
transfered save to cloud then attempted to log on disconnected from live
launch from disc 2
pointed fan at already well ventilated system to cool down
downloaded mass effect 3 demo
deleted demo
tested EA servers by successfully playing battlefield 3 online
successfully able to play modern warfare 3

The reason I believe its the gamer profile is because none of that stuff worked, however being signed in on another profile on my hard drive or creating a new profile on a flash drive made it possible for the game to load and play meaning the only logical solution after eliminating everything else is that there is a gamebreaking glitch in the way the game encoded to the gamer profile which causes the game to lock up and crash when signing into the game under the glitch profile.

My solution... wait for bioware to notice us and release a patch, or make a new profile and start mass effect 3 from scratch w/o being able to apply achievements or import mass effect 1 or 2 character stats and choices

I think stygian has the dirty disc error, which is slightly different. Still game breaking but actually comes up with an error message. Where as we get a freeze of the xbox before when signing in with our gamertag.

Yeah making a new profile is BS man, mainly because of live.  I could live without my imports, but I really like the online and I'm not paying 60 bucks to play this game online.  F--- that.  So for me whether it gets patched or it won't be played again, nor will I be buying any future Bioware products.

That's just me as a consumer.

well there is a new topic on the boards talking about patches. I'm not sure if its in indirect response to all these issues, but at least some reinsurance that someone has looked at our thread would be all that I ask.

Not to mention making a new profile means we lose everything, all DLC. Not to mention we run the risk of running into the exact same problem later.

I'd of felt better if CS had been aware of the issue tbh.

It has to be some corrupted files in the profile to do with this game, Problem being this has also been uploaded to MS server making it impossible to get rid of by us i would say, plus no comments from EA on what is actually happening
