@masseffect Whilst the black screen error isn't mentioned in the patch list for next week, does this mean there's no fix coming soon?
Mass Effect ‏- @masseffect
@capnraccoon We are definitely still looking into this :)

It's something at least.

Agreed. Bioware has been telling some of us they've been "looking into it" since the day after launch. It's something  but it's the same something from 30 days ago.

To hell with this. I'm doing the Resante fix on Tuesday when I get home and if they want to ban me or give me grief for it then they can go ************************** as they should have got off their arses and fixed it themselves in a timely manner instead of indirectly telling us to go **** ourselves since our problem is of little to no concern to them.

Up until now I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of BioWare's single-player sci-fi offerings but if this is how they are going to be treating their customers who have legitimate problems with their product then I hope EA runs the company into the ground like they have with many great developers of old.

I might be slightly over-reacting but this is one of (if not the) the worst customer service experiences I've ever experienced

It certainly it frustrating on a level that is staggering in this day and age. I really wouldn't care if it took six months to test and fix, but if Bioware simply told us that, it would all work out. Its not so much the lack of fix, its the lack of attention and replies from Bioware.

Well, the fact that a bug of this magnitude exists in the final game at all is pretty embarassing in and of itself. Indicates a lack of playtesting and/or quality control.

But yeah -- it would be a lot easier to forgive if they just told us what was going on instead of leaving us in the dark.

See the group link in my sig. The fix is in the first topic on the board there. I myself have not gotten a chance to try it yet, but other people have done it successfully.

I like to think "We're looking into this" means they have three people at Bioware sitting in front of a television watching the screen go completely black, and then they just stare into it for hours on end trying to come to terms with the universe.

Holy crud, they really are looking into this!

 LOL at this load:

All bugs are investigated by the team and are prioritized in a process called triage. Bugs are triaged based on how important they are to the game and how many people are encountering them. This means an issue can be extremely important if it effects a lot of people OR that an issue that effects a few people, but prevents them from playing the game can both be equally important. The team works to fix as many issues as possible in a given patch process.

think that means our bug should be at the top of the list. Though its true that face imports are a very important issue that is WAY more serious and dameging then our little bug.

I had  forgotten all about that completely BS post.  If they're "equally important," you'd think they'd have fixed it by now, but this just goes to show you Biowares true colors.  They don't give a sh*t, because they already have our money.

I don't see how they can release DLC while some consumers are completely incapable of playing their game. It's fantastic to see new content coming down the pipeline, especially without charge, and yet disappointing to not truly be able to enjoy it. This bug affects more than just those who are stuck in the black hole; I can't enjoy my game online, which is completely bug free, because my friends are stuck in the black hole. Thanks for the free stuff guys, but a patch for this needs to be top of the list of priorities.

On a side note:  Recieved a response from Kenny regarding an email I sent him a few days ago.  I had to clarify something for him, so it's not the actual reply I was looking for.  But I should *hopefully* have an actual update for everyone on Monday about this.

Still no progress here? BW giving the silent treatment still?? Hmmmmm.

MISSION UPDATE:

PRIORITY: Bioware Headquarters.
"-Assault Casey Hudsons base (Illusive Man)"
"-Retrieve VI containing the PATCH"

Optional: Search and rescue Ray Muzyka. Kai Leng may have already killed him. As Leng had complained about his copy getting a black screen defect..

=P Have a good weekend.

i have had this issue for a while now, instead of using the self fix i just hijacked my wifes profile and the game works fine minus all my saved games on my profile, granted i had to activate xbox live for her so i could get my online fix,

my next concern is how long can i continue to play on her profile until it falls into the black hole. i have gotten farther in the story than last time and finally got the 100% readyness again.

oh the joys of buying a preorder limited addition and not being able to use my saves from the first and second game....

on a side note, i did the thing where ea contacts me and i had the guy look up these forums and see all 60+ pages of complaints. he was needless to say shocked, funny he never herd of this bug before i contacted him, he said he was so shocked he will immideatly put this up his food chain to his boss because in his words, this is unacceptable, we will only hope he ment it and wasn't trying to just playcate me to get me off the phone

You know, in a totally messed up Dilbert/Office Space way, it would be really funny if Bioware had never heard of this bug. That all the Indian tech-support people we talked to never forwarded any emails or notices and we were just ignored. At this point, I would simply laugh at that. No tears, no rage...just honest laughter. And at the end, Bioware just says "LOL u mad?"

That would make my year!

Still looking into it... WHY NOT FIX THE DAMNED THING FIRST.

Sorry, it's a bit annoying when face morphing seems to be ahead of bugs that totally kill the game. Why is it that a community member can fix the problem and yet Bioware can't? A hotfix to let players back into the game while they continue to investigate would have been a good thing to do... so why aren't they doing it?

This mess is frustrating, and I hope your update brings good news, but I feel like bioware/ea are starting to get the picture. They both took a ton of flak for the prothean stunt and their choice of game endings, and now we have two free DLC's coming at us. They're trying at least. We should try making nice; I'm confident it will get us better results faster. I understand that the big picture is always making money and keeping us happy now will lead to us buying more product in the future, but at least they aren't blatantly cheating us anymore.  Try to keep positive guys and I'm sure we'll get positive back from them.
