hello other black holers. im sure this as already been suggested but i would like to pitch the idea of an EA/Bioware boycot untill either a fix is released or an official announcement of a timeline is released. This would involve cancelling TOR accounts, not playing EA titles like Battlefield and Sports titles. and not seeing the mass effect movie in may. hopefully a fix doesnt take that long but i am not hopeful. Lets force EA and Bioware to take this problem seriously.

1) EA/BioWare could care less.  They have our money already and we a small portion of the userbase.  A boycot almost never works anyways.
2) There is no Mass Effect movie coming out in May.

I think they would care if it meant revenue out of their pocket. depending on how long a fix would take that means no C&C, no DA3, no new sports titles. and i dont know how many of us are TOR players but the loss of money from that alone might prompt them to do something.

It's a nice ideal, but, the number of people who have this bug on here is 2-300 at best. You'd need a boycott in the thousands, maybe even tens of thousands for EA/Bioware to notice the effect of a boycott in their sales figures. Even then it might not be enough for them to actually care about it. A variance of a few hundred sales at any given time is well within normal expectations when we talking about products that sells millions of copies.

I mean there is a reason EA beat out Bank of America for worst company in the United States.

Maybe this idea is just born of frustration, but i love Bioware. I have all their games since NWN. and i just hate how EA has changed things. Well thanks for the feedback guys, and your probably right about the minimal to no effect a boycott would have. just feel like i have to do something.

Join groups, facebook pages etc. Mention it to people publicly, on forums, blogs etc. Be calm and polite about it at all times, don't get irate, don't call EA/Bioware evil or anything like that. The best thing that can be done is to give the issue good publicity - that is make sure that the people affected don't get seen by the wider community as "entitled" or "whiney" or any of those other god awful buzz words that are doing the rounds at the moment, but instead get seen as people who are affected by a game breaking bug and are making the best of a bad situation but need Bioware's help to resolve it properly.

Even though there is only so many members here does not mean this is not an issue for more. Some just don't join, post on here, or are maybe just waiting for these supposed fixes. Personally I am most likely done with EA, Bioware anyway. Who really cares about another Tiger Woods game! They need to give some hope on this issue soon or I will say goodbye to all my EA, Bioware products.

There's 150 members in the group (at the time of writing) - i'd already doubled that in my estimates for people on the forums who haven't joined the group. I'm sure there are many more people out there who are affected and aren't on these forums. However, if they're not on here, chances of them hearing anything about a boycott in time to make a difference are slim, meaning that figures outside of BSN are irrelevant, at least to begin with.

Also, look at the amount of people affected in this topic or the group, compared to the amount of people who are complaining about the face import issue, or the Grissom Academy bug. Like it or not, people suffering from the BSOD are (currently) a very small minority, something that is easily ignored, should EA/BW choose to. The sad thing is that the community as a whole doesn't care about something like this unless it actually affects them. They may be sympathetic to our plight, but at the end of the day their game works and they won't make much of an effort on our behalf. In order to get the numbers to make EA/Bioware listen, we'd need a lot more people being affected.

That's not to say that we shouldn't still do stuff, but more that we should channel our efforts into spreading the word, trying to make people aware of this problem as much as possible, rather than trying to take direct action to force EA/BW to address the issue. You need an army before you can win a war.

Yah the BSN community is pretty awful tbh.  I expected more out of them.

You have to keep in mind that most of the community doesn't even realize the BSOD exists. I didn't know about it until it happened to me. Promoting awareness about our problem can't hurt, and it might catch some people's attention.

...Or they might just ignore it and keep complaining about the ending. One of those.

If it was a PC game we'd have a ton of people in here.

But being a console game, game breaks, it gets returned or traded in.

Somebody who know english well should create a facebook site about black screen of death. I want to do this but my english is not perfect so it will be look unprofessional. Many people have a facebook so it is a good idea just look on facebook site "Demand a better ending to Mass Effect 3" 61.412 people like this. Definitely we should try to do that... perhaps it will help

I just anted to pop in and urge everyone out there still getting the black screen with the ability to get their hands on a pc an flash drive to do the home brew fix resents posted. It was super easy with the step by step instructions found in the black hole discussion board, the 2 programs used were free and easy to get (just google the names, one of which I had to create a free account to download but it was still easy)

I fixed my own game because I got sick of waiting for bioware. I was nervous about doing it because I didn't want to screw anything up or get in trouble and I'm actually mad at myself for not doing it sooner. I kept my game save ea online pass all my multiplayer unlocks and everything, just the progress counters towards achievements were reset. You can even play online do there's no reason not to at this point since a real fix is obviously a long way away

Ok Bioware, it's Monday...what was that update you said would come out today?

They're too busy prepping their DLC for tomorrow.  Fixing our problem would cut into any profits that are going to be generated by the new DLC.

DLC is free though, and will have its own packs.  I never spend real money on packs, I can make good credits as I play Silver alot.  I'll be getting this tonight.

Extended Cut dlc is also free.
